San Lucas 18
1 Y les propuso también una parábola, para enseñar que es menester orar siempre, y no desalentarse,
He also taught them by a parable how they ought always to pray and never to lose heart.
2 Diciendo: Había un juez en una ciudad, el cual ni temía a Dios, ni respetaba a hombre alguno.
"There was a certain town," he said, "a judge who had neither reverence for God, nor respect for man.
3 Había también en aquella ciudad una viuda, la cual venía a él, diciendo: Házme justicia de mi adversario.
"In that same town there was a widow who came again and again before him, saying, "‘Do for me the justice of my adversary.’
4 Mas él no quiso por algún tiempo: empero después de esto, dijo dentro de sí: Aunque ni temo a Dios, ni tengo respeto a hombre;
"For a while he would not, but afterwards he said to himself, ‘Though I have neither reverence for God nor regard for man,
5 Todavía, porque esta viuda me es molesta, le haré justicia; porque no venga siempre y al fin me muela.
"‘yet because this woman annoys me I will give her justice, lest by her continual coming she wear me out.’
6 Y dijo el Señor: Oíd lo que dice el juez injusto.
"Listen" said the Lord, "to what this unjust judge says.
7 ¿Y Dios no defenderá a sus escogidos que claman a él día y noche, aunque sea longánimo acerca de ellos?
"And will not God see justice done to his elect who are crying unto him day and night, even if he seems to delay helping them?
8 Os digo que los defenderá presto. Empero el Hijo del hombre, cuando viniere, ¿hallará fe en la tierra?
"I tell you that he will quickly see justice done to his elect! Nevertheless, when the Son of man comes, will he find faith upon the earth?"
9 Y dijo también a unos, que confiaban de sí como justos, y menospreciaban a los otros, esta parábola:
Moreover he spoke this parable to some who trusted in themselves because they were righteous, and looked down upon the rest.
10 Dos hombres subieron al templo a orar, el uno Fariseo, y el otro publicano.
"Two men are going up to the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, the other a tax-gatherer.
11 El Fariseo puesto en pie oraba consigo de esta manera: Dios, te hago gracias, que no soy como los otros hombres, ladrones, injustos, adúlteros; ni aun como este publicano.
"The Pharisee stood apart and thus began to pray by himself. "‘O God, I thank thee that I am not like the rest of men, extortioners, rogues, adulterers, or even like this tax gatherer;
12 Ayuno dos veces en la semana: doy diezmos de todo lo que poseo.
"‘I fast twice a week, I pay tithes of all my possessions.’
13 Mas el publicano estando lejos, no quería, ni aun alzar los ojos al cielo; mas hería su pecho, diciendo: Dios, ten misericordia de mí, pecador.
"But the tax-gatherer, standing far back, would not lift up so much as his eyes to heaven, but kept beating his breast and saying, "‘O God be merciful to me, the sinner!’
14 Os digo que éste descendió a su casa justificado más bien que el otro; porque cualquiera que se ensalza, será humillado; y el que se humilla, será ensalzado.
"I tell you that this man went down to his house justified rather than the other; for every one who exalts himself shall be humbled; but he who humbles himself shall be exalted."
15 Y traían también a él niños para que les tocase, lo cual viéndo lo sus discípulos, les reñían.
And they kept bringing their babies for him to touch them; but when his disciples saw it they began to rebuke them.
16 Mas Jesús llamándolos, dijo: Dejád los niños venir a mí, y no los impidáis; porque de tales es el reino de Dios.
But Jesus called for the babies. "Let the little children come to me," he said, "do not hinder them; for of such is the kingdom of heaven.
17 De cierto os digo, que cualquiera que no recibiere el reino de Dios como un niño, no entrará en él.
"I tell you in solemn truth that whoever will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child, he will never get into it."
18 Y le preguntó un príncipe, diciendo: ¿Maestro bueno, qué haré para poseer la vida eterna? (aiōnios g166)
A ruler put this question to him. "Good teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?" (aiōnios g166)
19 Y Jesús le dijo: ¿Por qué me dices, bueno? ninguno hay bueno, sino uno solo, Dios.
"Why are you calling me ‘good’?"said Jesus to him; "no one is good but God.
20 Los mandamientos sabes: No matarás: No adulterarás: No hurtarás: No dirás falso testimonio: Honra a tu padre, y a tu madre.
"You know the commandments. "Do not commit adultery, Do not murder, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Honor your father and mother."
21 Y él dijo: Todas estas cosas he guardado desde mi juventud.
"All of these," he replied, "I have kept from my youth up."
22 Y Jesús oído esto, le dijo: Aun una cosa te falta: todo lo que tienes, véndelo, y da lo a los pobres, y tendrás tesoro en el cielo; y ven, sígueme.
And receiving this reply, Jesus said to him. "One thing you are still lacking. Sell all that you have and give it to the poor, and you shall have treasure in heaven. Then come and follow me."
23 Entonces él, oídas estas cosas, se entristeció sobre manera, porque era muy rico.
But when he heard these words he became deeply grieved, for he was exceedingly rich.
24 Y viendo Jesús que se había entristecido mucho, dijo: ¡Cuán dificultosamente entrarán en el reino de Dios, los que tienen riquezas!
Jesus looked at him and said. "How hard it is for those who have money to enter into the kingdom of God!
25 Porque más fácil cosa es entrar un camello por un ojo de una aguja, que un rico entrar en el reino de Dios.
Why, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God."
26 Y los que lo oían, dijeron: ¿Y quién podrá ser salvo?
"Who then can be saved?" exclaimed his hearers.
27 Y él les dijo: Lo que es imposible acerca de los hombres, posible es acerca de Dios.
"Things that are impossible with men," he answered them, "are possible with God."
28 Entonces Pedro dijo: He aquí, nosotros hemos dejado todas las cosas, y te hemos seguido.
Then Peter said, "Look! we have left our homes and followed you."
29 Y él les dijo: De cierto os digo, que nadie hay que haya dejado casa, o padres, o hermanos, o mujer, o hijos, por el reino de Dios,
And he said to them, "In Solemn truth I tell you that there is no one who, for the sake of the kingdom of God, has left houses, or wife, or brother, or parents, or children,
31 Y Jesús tomando aparte los doce, les dijo: He aquí, subimos a Jerusalem, y serán cumplidas todas las cosas que fueron escritas por los profetas del Hijo del hombre.
Then he took the twelve aside and told them. "See, we are on our way to Jerusalem, and all prophets regarding the son of Man will be fulfilled.
32 Porque será entregado a los Gentiles, y será escarnecido, e injuriado, y escupido;
"He will be betrayed to the Gentiles, and be mocked, and shamefully treated, and spit upon;
33 Y después que le hubieren azotado, le matarán; mas al tercero día resucitará.
"and they will scourge and kill him; and the third day he will rise again."
34 Mas ellos nada de estas cosas entendían, y esta palabra les era encubierta; y no entendían lo que se decía.
But they understood none of these sayings. His words were a mystery to them, and they did not know what he meant.
35 Y aconteció, que acercándose él de Jericó, un ciego estaba sentado junto al camino mendigando,
As Jesus drew near to Jericho, there was a blind man who sat by the wayside begging.
36 El cual como oyó la multitud que pasaba, preguntaba qué era aquello.
He heard the crowd passing and asked what the matter was.
37 Y le dijeron: que Jesús Nazareno pasaba.
They told him, "Jesus of Nazareth is passing by."
38 Entonces dio voces, diciendo: Jesús, Hijo de David, ten misericordia de mí.
Then he shouted out, saying, "Jesus, son of David, take pity on me!"
39 Y los que iban delante, le reñían para que callase; empero él clamaba mucho más: Hijo de David, ten misericordia de mí.
Those who went ahead began to reprove him and to tell him to be still; but he kept clamorously shouting all the more, "Son of David, take pity on me!"
40 Jesús entonces parándose, mandó traerle a sí. Y como él llegó, le preguntó,
So Jesus stopped and ordered him to be brought to him. When he was come near to him he asked him
41 Diciendo: ¿Qué quieres que te haga? Y él dijo: Señor, que vea yo.
"What do you want me to do for you?" "Lord," he answered, "that I might see again."
42 Y Jesús le dijo: Ve: tu fe te ha hecho salvo.
"Receive your sight," said Jesus, "your faith has saved you."
43 Y luego vio, y le seguía, glorificando a Dios; y todo el pueblo como vio esto, dio alabanza a Dios.
Instantly he regained his sight and followed Jesus, giving glory to God; and all the people who saw it gave praise to God.
