San Lucas 17

1 Dijo después a los discípulos: Imposible es que no vengan escándalos; mas ¡ay de aquel por quien vienen!

Jesus said to his disciples. "It is not possible but that occasions of stumbling should occur, but woe to him through whom they come!

2 Mejor le sería, si una piedra de molino de asno le fuera puesta al cuello, y fuese echado en la mar, que escandalizar a uno de estos pequeñitos.

"It were well for him if a millstone were tied about his neck, and he were hurled into the sea, rather than he should cause one of these little ones to stumble.

3 Mirád por vosotros. Si pecare contra ti tu hermano, repréndele; y si se arrepintiere, perdónale.

"Be on you guard! "If your brother sins, rebuke him, and if he repents forgive him.

4 Y si siete veces al día pecare contra ti, y siete veces al día se volviere a ti, diciendo: Pésame: perdónale.

"And if he sins against you seven times a day, and seven times a day turns to you saying ‘I repent,’ you shall forgive him."

5 Y dijeron los apóstoles al Señor: Auméntanos la fe.

The apostles said to the Lord, "Increase our faith!"

6 Y el Señor dijo: Si tuvieseis fe como un grano de mostaza, diríais a este sicómoro: Desarráigate, y plántate en la mar, y os obedecería.

"If your faith," answered Jesus, "were like a grain of mustard-seed, you would say to this tree, ‘Tear yourself up and be planted in the sea,’ and it would obey you.

7 ¿Mas cuál de vosotros tiene un siervo que ara, o apacienta ganado, que vuelto del campo le diga luego: Pasa, siéntate a la mesa?

"But who of you who has a slave plowing or keeping sheep, will say to him, when he is come in from the field, ‘Come at once, sit down to dinner,’

8 ¿No le dice antes: Adereza que cene yo, y cíñete, y sírveme hasta que haya comido y bebido; y después de esto come tú y bebe?

"and will not rather tell him, ‘Get ready something for me to eat, and gird yourself to wait on me until I have eaten and drunken. Then you shall eat and drink.’

9 ¿Hace gracias al siervo porque hizo lo que le había sido mandado? Pienso que no.

"Does he think the slave because he did the things that were commanded?

10 Así también vosotros, cuando hubiereis hecho todo lo que os es mandado, decíd: Siervos inútiles somos; porque lo que debíamos de hacer, hicimos.

"Even so, you also, after you have done all the things that are commanded you, should say, ‘We are but slaves, we have only done what it was our duty to do.’"

11 Y aconteció que yendo él a Jerusalem, pasaba por medio de Samaria, y de Galilea.

Now it happened that as he went his way to Jerusalem, he passed between Samaria and Galilee.

12 Y entrando en una aldea, viniéronle al encuentro diez hombres leprosos, los cuales se pararon de lejos;

And as he was going certain village ten lepers met him.

13 Y alzaron la voz, diciendo: Jesús, Maestro, ten misericordia de nosotros.

They stood at a distance and lifted up their voices, saying, "Jesus, Master, take pity on us."

14 Y como él los vio, les dijo: Id, mostráos a los sacerdotes. Y aconteció, que yendo ellos, fueron limpios.

Perceiving this he said to them, "Go and show yourselves to the priest." And as they went they were made clean.

15 Y el uno de ellos, como se vio que era limpio, volvió, glorificando a Dios a gran voz.

Now one of them, as he saw that he was cured, came back, glorifying God in a loud voice,

16 Y se derribó sobre su rostro a sus pies, haciéndole gracias; y éste era Samaritano.

and he fell on his face at the feet of Jesus and thanked him. He was a Samaritan.

17 Y respondiendo Jesús, dijo: ¿No son diez los que fueron limpios? ¿Y los nueve, dónde están?

"Were there not ten cleansed?" asked Jesus, "but where are the nine?

18 ¿No fue hallado quien volviese, y diese gloria a Dios, sino este extranjero?

"Are there none found to return and give glory to God except this foreigner?"

19 Y le dijo: Levántate, vete: tu fe te ha sanado.

And he said unto him, "Rise and go, your faith has healed you."

20 Y preguntado de los Fariseos, cuando había de venir el reino de Dios, les respondió, y dijo: El reino de Dios no vendrá manifiesto;

The Pharisees asked him when the kingdom of God was coming. He answered. "The kingdom of God does not come so that you can catch sight of it,

21 Ni dirán: Héle aquí, o héle allí; porque, he aquí, el reino de Dios dentro de vosotros está.

"nor will they say, ‘Look here it is!’ or ‘See there!’ - for the kingdom of God is now in your midst."

22 Y dijo a sus discípulos: Tiempo vendrá, cuando desearéis ver uno de los días del Hijo del hombre, y no lo veréis.

Then he said turning to his disciples. "The days will come when you shall long to see one of the days of the Son of man, you shall not see it.

23 Y os dirán: Héle aquí, o héle allí. No vayáis tras ellos, ni los sigáis.

"And they shall say to you, ‘Lo there! Lo there!’ But do not go away or follow them.

24 Porque como el relámpago relampagueando desde una parte que está debajo del cielo, resplandece hasta la otra que está debajo del cielo, así también será el Hijo del hombre en su día.

"For as the lightning when it lightens out of the one part under heaven shines to the other part under heaven, so shall the Son of man be in his day.

25 Mas primero es menester que padezca mucho, y sea reprobado de esta generación.

"But first he must suffer many things, and be rejected buy his generation.

26 Y como fue en los días de Noé, así también será en los días del Hijo del hombre:

"And this was in the time of Noah, so will it be in the time of the Son of man.

27 Comían, bebían, se casaban y se daban en casamiento, hasta el día que entró Noé en el arca; y vino el diluvio, y destruyó a todos.

"Men were eating and drinking; they were marrying and being married, until the day that Noah entered into the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all.

28 Asimismo también como fue en los días de Lot: comían, bebían, compraban, vendían, plantaban, edificaban;

"The same was true in the time of Lot; they were eating and drinking, buying and selling, planting and building;

29 Mas el día que Lot salió de Sodoma, llovió del cielo fuego y azufre, y destruyó a todos:

"but on the day that Lot left Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven and destroyed them all.

30 Como esto será el día que el Hijo del hombre se manifestará.

"In the same manner it shall be in the day that the Son of man shall be revealed.

31 En aquel día, el que estuviere en el tejado, y sus alhajas en casa, no descienda a tomarlas; y el que en el campo, asimismo no vuelva atrás.

"On that day, if a man is on the housetop and his goods inside, let him not go down to take them away; nor should a man in the field turn back.

32 Acordáos de la mujer de Lot.

"Remember Lot’s wife!

33 Cualquiera que procurare salvar su vida, la perderá; y cualquiera que la perdiere, la vivificará.

"Whoever seeks to keep his life shall lose it; but whoever loses it shall preserve it.

34 Os digo, que en aquella noche estarán dos hombres en una cama: el uno será tomado, y el otro será dejado.

"I tell you that in one night there shall be two men in one bed; one shall be taken and the other left.

35 Dos mujeres estarán moliendo juntas: la una será tomada, y la otra será dejada.

"There shall be two women grinding together; the one shall be taken and the other left."

36 Dos hombres estarán en el campo: el uno será tomado, y el otro será dejado.

37 Y respondiéndole, le dicen: ¿Dónde, Señor? Y él les dijo: Donde estuviere el cuerpo, allá se juntarán también las águilas.

"Where, Master?" they asked him. "Where the dead body is," he answered, "there will the vultures be gathered together."
