Proverbios 19
1 Más vale el pobre que vive rectamente, que el rico fatuo y de lengua perversa.
Betere is a pore man, that goith in his simplenesse, than a riche man bitynge hise lippis, and vnwijs.
2 Es un mal si el alma carece de ciencia, pues tropieza el que anda precipitado.
Where is not kunnyng of the soule, is not good; and he that is hasti, in feet hirtith.
3 La necedad le tuerce al hombre sus caminos, y luego murmura su corazón contra Yahvé.
The foli of a man disseyueth hise steppis; and he brenneth in his soule ayens God.
4 Las riquezas aumentan mucho el número de los amigos, el pobre, empero, es abandonado de su propio compañero.
Richessis encreessen ful many freendis; forsothe also thei ben departid fro a pore man, whiche he hadde.
5 Testigo falso no quedará sin castigo, y no se librará el que profiere mentiras.
A fals witnesse schal not be vnpunyschid; and he that spekith leesingis, schal not ascape.
6 El dadivoso tiene muchos aduladores; todos son amigos del que da regalos.
Many men onouren the persoone of a myyti man; and ben frendis of hym that deelith yiftis.
7 Si al pobre le aborrecen todos sus hermanos, ¡Cuánto más se alejarán de él sus amigos! Quiere ganarlos con palabras pero no están a su alcance.
The britheren of a pore man haten hym; ferthermore and the freendis yeden awei fer fro hym. He that sueth wordis oonli, schal haue no thing;
8 El que adquiere inteligencia ama su alma, quien se acomoda a la prudencia hallará la dicha.
but he that holdith stabli the mynde, loueth his soule, and the kepere of prudence schal fynde goodis.
9 El testigo falso no quedará impune, y el que propala mentiras perecerá.
A fals witnesse schal not be vnpunyschid; and he that spekith leesyngis, schal perische.
10 No está bien al necio una vida regalada, mucho menos a un esclavo el mandar a los príncipes.
Delices bicomen not a fool; nether `it bicometh a seruaunt to be lord of princes.
11 El hombre sabio detiene su ira; su gloria es olvidar las injurias.
The teching of a man is knowun bi pacience; and his glorie is to passe ouere wickid thingis.
12 Como rugido de león es la ira del rey; y su favor cual rocío sobre el césped.
As the gnasting of a lioun, so and the ire of the king; and as deewe on eerbe, so and the gladnesse of the kyng.
13 Dolor de su padre es el hijo insensato, y gotera continua la mujer rencillosa.
The sorewe of the fadir is a fonned sone; and roofes droppynge contynueli is a womman ful of chiding.
14 Casa y riqueza se heredan de los padres, pero la mujer discreta es don de Yahvé.
Housis and richessis ben youun of fadir and modir; but a prudent wijf is youun propirli of the Lord.
15 La pereza trae el sueño, y la indolencia el hambre.
Slouth bringith in sleep; and a negligent soule schal haue hungur.
16 Quien guarda los mandamientos, guarda su alma; mas el que menosprecia los caminos de (Yahvé) morirá.
He that kepith the comaundement of God, kepith his soule; but he that chargith not his weie, schal be slayn.
17 Quien se apiada del pobre, presta a Yahvé, el cual le recompensará su obra.
He that hath mercy on a pore man, leeneth to the Lord; and he schal yelde his while to hym.
18 Castiga a tu hijo, pues hay esperanza; pero no te dejes llevar a darle muerte.
Teche thi sone, and dispeire thou not; but sette thou not thi soule to the sleyng of hym.
19 El que mucho se aíra sufrirá penas, de las cuales aun cuando le libras has de sacarle siempre de nuevo.
Forsothe he that is vnpacient, schal suffre harm; and whanne he hath rauyschid, he schal leie to anothir thing.
20 Escucha el consejo, y acepta la corrección, para que seas sabio en tu fin.
Here thou counsel, and take thou doctryn; that thou be wijs in thi laste thingis.
21 Muchos proyectos hay en el corazón del hombre, pero siempre se cumple el designio de Yahvé.
Many thouytis ben in the herte of a man; but the wille of the Lord schal dwelle.
22 Al hombre le gusta ser compasivo; más vale ser pobre que mentiroso.
A nedi man is merciful; and betere is a pore iust man, than a man liere.
23 El temor de Yahvé conduce a la vida; así queda (el hombre) satisfecho y libre de todo mal.
The drede of the Lord ledith to lijf `of blis; and he `that dredith God schal dwelle in plentee, with outen visityng `of the worste.
24 El haragán mete su mano en el plato, pero no la lleva a su boca.
A slow man hidith his hond vndur the armpit; and putteth it not to his mouth.
25 Castiga al burlador, y se hace cuerdo el necio; amonesta al sensato y entenderá la sabiduría.
Whanne a man ful of pestilence is betun, a fool schal be wisere. If thou blamist a wijs man, he schal vndurstonde techyng.
26 Quien maltrata a su padre y echa de sí a su madre, es un hijo desvergonzado y sin honor.
He that turmentith the fadir, and fleeth fro the modir, schal be ful of yuel fame, and schal be cursid.
27 Hijo mío, si dejas de oír consejos, te desviarás de las palabras de la sabiduría.
Sone, ceesse thou not to here techyng; and knowe thou the wordis of kunnyng.
28 El testigo perverso se ríe de la justicia; y la boca de los impíos se traga la iniquidad.
A wickid witnesse scorneth doom; and the mouth of vnpitouse men deuourith wickidnesse.
29 Los castigos han sido hechos para los burladores, y los azotes para las espaldas de los insensatos.
Domes ben maad redi to scorneris; and hameris smytynge ben maad redi to the bodies of foolis.
