1 tataḥ paraṁ viśrāmavārasya śeṣe saptāhaprathamadinasya prabhote jāte magdalīnī mariyam anyamariyam ca śmaśānaṁ draṣṭumāgatā|
Now after the Sabbath, as it began to dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to see the tomb.
2 tadā mahān bhūkampo'bhavat; parameśvarīyadūtaḥ svargādavaruhya śmaśānadvārāt pāṣāṇamapasāryya taduparyyupaviveśa|
And look, there was a great earthquake, for an angel of the Lord descended from the sky, and came and rolled away the stone, and sat on it.
3 tadvadanaṁ vidyudvat tejomayaṁ vasanaṁ himaśubhrañca|
His appearance was like lightning, and his clothing white as snow.
4 tadānīṁ rakṣiṇastadbhayāt kampitā mṛtavad babhūvaḥ|
For fear of him, the guards shook, and became like dead men.
5 sa dūto yoṣito jagāda, yūyaṁ mā bhaiṣṭa, kruśahatayīśuṁ mṛgayadhve tadahaṁ vedmi|
The angel answered the women, "Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus, who has been crucified.
6 so'tra nāsti, yathāvadat tathotthitavān; etat prabhoḥ śayanasthānaṁ paśyata|
He is not here, for he has risen, just like he said. Come, see the place where he was lying.
7 tūrṇaṁ gatvā tacchiṣyān iti vadata, sa śmaśānād udatiṣṭhat, yuṣmākamagre gālīlaṁ yāsyati yūyaṁ tatra taṁ vīkṣiṣyadhve, paśyatāhaṁ vārttāmimāṁ yuṣmānavādiṣaṁ|
Go quickly and tell his disciples, 'He has risen from the dead, and look, he goes before you into Galilee; there you will see him.' See, I have told you."
8 tatastā bhayāt mahānandāñca śmaśānāt tūrṇaṁ bahirbhūya tacchiṣyān vārttāṁ vaktuṁ dhāvitavatyaḥ| kintu śiṣyān vārttāṁ vaktuṁ yānti, tadā yīśu rdarśanaṁ dattvā tā jagāda,
They departed quickly from the tomb, frightened yet with great joy, and ran to bring his disciples word.
9 yuṣmākaṁ kalyāṇaṁ bhūyāt, tatastā āgatya tatpādayoḥ patitvā praṇemuḥ|
And look, Jesus met them, saying, "Rejoice!" And they came and took hold of his feet, and worshiped him.
10 yīśustā avādīt, mā bibhīta, yūyaṁ gatvā mama bhrātṛn gālīlaṁ yātuṁ vadata, tatra te māṁ drakṣyanti|
Then Jesus said to them, "Do not be afraid. Go tell my brothers that they should go into Galilee, and there they will see me."
11 striyo gacchanti, tadā rakṣiṇāṁ kecit puraṁ gatvā yadyad ghaṭitaṁ tatsarvvaṁ pradhānayājakān jñāpitavantaḥ|
Now while they were going, look, some of the guards came into the city, and told the chief priests all the things that had happened.
12 te prācīnaiḥ samaṁ saṁsadaṁ kṛtvā mantrayanto bahumudrāḥ senābhyo dattvāvadan,
When they were assembled with the elders, and had taken counsel, they gave a large amount of silver to the soldiers,
13 asmāsu nidriteṣu tacchiṣyā yāminyāmāgatya taṁ hṛtvānayan, iti yūyaṁ pracārayata|
saying, "Say that his disciples came by night, and stole him away while we slept.
14 yadyetadadhipateḥ śrotragocarībhavet, tarhi taṁ bodhayitvā yuṣmānaviṣyāmaḥ|
If this comes to the governor's ears, we will persuade him and make you free of worry."
15 tataste mudrā gṛhītvā śikṣānurūpaṁ karmma cakruḥ, yihūdīyānāṁ madhye tasyādyāpi kiṁvadantī vidyate|
So they took the money and did as they were told. This saying was spread abroad among the Jewish people, and continues until this day.
16 ekādaśa śiṣyā yīśunirūpitāgālīlasyādriṁ gatvā
But the eleven disciples went into Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had sent them.
17 tatra taṁ saṁvīkṣya praṇemuḥ, kintu kecit sandigdhavantaḥ|
When they saw him, they bowed down to him, but some doubted.
18 yīśusteṣāṁ samīpamāgatya vyāhṛtavān, svargamedinyoḥ sarvvādhipatitvabhāro mayyarpita āste|
Jesus came to them and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth.
19 ato yūyaṁ prayāya sarvvadeśīyān śiṣyān kṛtvā pituḥ putrasya pavitrasyātmanaśca nāmnā tānavagāhayata; ahaṁ yuṣmān yadyadādiśaṁ tadapi pālayituṁ tānupādiśata|
Therefore go, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
20 paśyata, jagadantaṁ yāvat sadāhaṁ yuṣmābhiḥ sākaṁ tiṣṭhāmi| iti| (aiōn g165)
teaching them to obey all things that I commanded you. And look, I am with you every day, even to the end of the age." (aiōn g165)
