Lucas 14
1 Aconteceu n'um sabbado que, entrando elle em casa de um dos principaes dos phariseos para comer pão, elles o estavam espiando.
And it came to pass, as he went into the house of one of the chief Pharisees to eat bread on the sabbath day, that they watched him.
2 E eis que estava ali adiante d'elle um certo homem hydropico.
And, behold, there was a certain man before him which had the dropsy.
3 E, Jesus, tomando a palavra, fallou aos doutores da lei, e aos phariseos, dizendo: É licito curar no sabbado?
And Jesus answering spoke unto the lawyers and Pharisees, saying, Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath day?
4 Elles, porém, calaram-se. E, tomando-o, elle o curou e despediu.
And they held their peace. And he took him, and healed him, and let him go;
5 E, respondendo-lhes, disse: Qual será de vós o que, caindo-lhe n'um poço, em dia de sabbado, o jumento ou o boi, o não tire logo?
And answered them, saying, Which of you shall have an ass or an ox fallen into a pit, and will not immediately pull him out on the sabbath day?
6 E nada lhe podiam replicar a estas coisas.
And they could not answer him again to these things.
7 E disse aos convidados uma parabola, reparando como escolhiam os primeiros assentos, dizendo-lhes:
And he put forth a parable to those which were bidden, when he marked how they chose out the chief rooms; saying unto them.
8 Quando por alguem fôres convidado ás bodas, não te assentes no primeiro logar, não aconteça que esteja convidado outro mais digno do que tu;
When you are bidden of any man to a wedding, sit not down in the highest room; lest a more honourable man than you be bidden of him;
9 E, vindo o que te convidou a ti e a elle, te diga: Dá o logar e este; e então, com vergonha, tenhas de tomar o derradeiro logar.
And he that bade you and him come and say to you, Give this man place; and you begin with shame to take the low room.
10 Mas, quando fores convidado, vae, e assenta-te no derradeiro logar, para que, quando vier o que te convidou, te diga: Amigo, sobe mais para cima. Então terás honra diante dos que estiverem comtigo á mesa.
But when you are bidden, go and sit down in the low room; that when he that bade you comes, he may say unto you, Friend, go up higher: then shall you have worship in the presence of them that sit to eat with you.
11 Porque qualquer que a si mesmo se exaltar será humilhado, e aquelle que a si mesmo se humilhar será exaltado.
For whosoever exalts himself shall be brought low; and he that humbles himself shall be exalted.
12 E dizia tambem ao que o tinha convidado: Quando deres um jantar, ou uma ceia, não chames os teus amigos, nem os teus irmãos, nem os teus parentes, nem visinhos ricos, para que não succeda que tambem elles te tornem a convidar, e te seja isso recompensado.
Then said he also to him that bade him, When you make a dinner or a supper, call not your friends, nor your brethren, neither your kinsmen, nor your rich neighbours; lest they also bid you again, and a recompence be made you.
13 Mas, quando fizeres convite, chama os pobres, aleijados, mancos e cegos,
But when you make a feast, call the poor, the physically disabled, the lame, the blind:
14 E serás bemaventurado; porquanto não teem com que t'o recompensar; porque recompensado te será na resurreição dos justos.
And you shall be blessed; for they cannot recompense you: for you shall be recompensed at the resurrection of the just.
15 E, ouvindo isto um dos que estavam com elle á mesa, disse-lhe: Bemaventurado aquelle que comer pão no reino de Deus.
And when one of them that sat at food with him heard these things, he said unto him, Blessed is he that shall eat bread in the kingdom of God.
16 Porém elle lhe disse: Um certo homem fez uma grande ceia, e convidou a muitos.
Then said he unto him, A certain man made a great supper, and bade many:
17 E á hora da ceia mandou o seu servo a dizer aos convidados: Vinde, que já tudo está preparado.
And sent his servant at supper time to say to them that were bidden, Come; for all things are now ready.
18 E todos á uma começaram a escusar-se. Disse-lhe o primeiro: Comprei um campo, e importa ir vêl-o: rogo-te que me hajas por escusado.
And they all with one consent began to make excuse. The first said unto him, I have bought a piece of ground, and I must essentially go and see it: I pray you have me excused.
19 E outro disse: Comprei cinco juntas de bois, e vou a experimental-os: rogo-te que me hajas por escusado.
And another said, I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I go to prove them: I pray you have me excused.
20 E outro disse: Casei, e portanto não posso ir.
And another said, I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come.
21 E, voltando aquelle servo, annunciou estas coisas ao seu senhor. Então o pae de familia, indignado, disse ao seu servo: Sae depressa pelas ruas e bairros da cidade, e traze aqui os pobres, e aleijados, e mancos e cegos.
So that servant came, and showed his lord these things. Then the master of the house being angry said to his servant, Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in here the poor, and the physically disabled, and the halt, and the blind.
22 E disse o servo: Senhor, feito está como mandaste; e ainda ha logar.
And the servant said, Lord, it is done as you have commanded, and yet there is room.
23 E disse o senhor ao servo: Sae pelos caminhos e vallados, e força-os a entrar para que a minha casa se encha.
And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.
24 Porque eu vos digo que nenhum d'aquelles varões que foram convidados provará a minha ceia.
For I say unto you, That none of those men which were bidden shall taste of my supper.
25 Ora ia com elle uma grande multidão; e, voltando-se, disse-lhe:
And there went great multitudes with him: and he turned, and said unto them,
26 Se alguem vier a mim, e não aborrecer a seu pae, e mãe, e mulher, e filhos, e irmãos, e irmãs, e ainda tambem a sua propria vida, não pode ser meu discipulo.
If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple.
27 E qualquer que não levar a sua cruz, e não vier após mim, não pode ser meu discipulo.
And whosoever does not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple.
28 Pois qual de vós, querendo edificar uma torre, não se assenta primeiro a fazer as contas dos gastos, para ver se tem com que a acabar?
For which of you, intending to build a tower, sits not down first, and counts the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it?
29 Para que não aconteça que, depois de haver posto o alicerce, e não a podendo acabar, todos os que a virem comecem a escarnecer d'elle,
Lest lest by any means, after he has laid the foundation, and is not able to finish it, all that behold it begin to mock him,
30 Dizendo: Este homem começou a edificar e não poude acabar.
Saying, This man began to build, and was not able to finish.
31 Ou qual é o rei que, indo á guerra a pelejar contra outro rei, não se assenta primeiro a consultar se com dez mil pode sair ao encontro do que vem contra elle com vinte mil?
Or what king, going to make war against another king, sits not down first, and consults whether he be able with ten thousand to meet him that comes against him with twenty thousand?
32 D'outra maneira, estando o outro ainda longe, manda-lhe embaixadores, e pede condições de paz.
Or else, while the other is yet a great way off, he sends an embassy, and desires conditions of peace.
33 Assim, pois, qualquer de vós, que não renuncia a tudo quanto tem, não pode ser meu discipulo.
So likewise, whosoever he be of you that forsakes not all that he has, he cannot be my disciple.
34 Bom é o sal; porém, se o sal degenerar, com que se adubará?
Salt is good: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be seasoned?
35 Nem presta para a terra, nem para o monturo; lançam-n'o fóra. Quem tem ouvidos para ouvir, ouça.
It is neither fit for the land, nor yet for the dunghill; but men cast it out. He that has ears to hear, let him hear.
