ヨハネの福音書 9
1 またイエスは道の途中で、生まれつきの盲人を見られた。
And as Jesus passed by, he saw a man which was blind from his birth.
2 弟子たちは彼についてイエスに質問して言った。「先生。彼が盲目に生まれついたのは、だれが罪を犯したからですか。この人ですか。その両親ですか。」
And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind?
3 イエスは答えられた。「この人が罪を犯したのでもなく、両親でもありません。神のわざがこの人に現われるためです。
Jesus answered, Neither has this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him.
4 わたしたちは、わたしを遣わした方のわざを、昼の間に行なわなければなりません。だれも働くことのできない夜が来ます。
I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night comes, when no man can work.
5 わたしが世にいる間、わたしは世の光です。」
As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.
6 イエスは、こう言ってから、地面につばきをして、そのつばきで泥を作られた。そしてその泥を盲人の目に塗って言われた。
When he had thus spoken, he spat on the ground, and made clay of the spittle, and he anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay,
7 「行って、シロアム（訳して言えば、遣わされた者）の池で洗いなさい。」そこで、彼は行って、洗った。すると、見えるようになって、帰って行った。
And said unto him, Go, wash in the pool of Siloam, (which is by interpretation, Sent.) He went his way therefore, and washed, and came seeing.
8 近所の人たちや、前に彼がこじきをしていたのを見ていた人たちが言った。「これはすわって物ごいをしていた人ではないか。」
The neighbours therefore, and they which before had seen him that he was blind, said, Is not this he that sat and begged?
9 ほかの人は、「これはその人だ。」と言い、またほかの人は、「そうではない。ただその人に似ているだけだ。」と言った。当人は、「私がその人です。」と言った。
Some said, This is he: others said, He is like him: but he said, I am he.
10 そこで、彼らは言った。「それでは、あなたの目はどのようにしてあいたのですか。」
Therefore said they unto him, How were your eyes opened?
11 彼は答えた。「イエスという方が、泥を作って、私の目に塗り、『シロアムの池に行って洗いなさい。』と私に言われました。それで、行って洗うと、見えるようになりました。」
He answered and said, A man that is called Jesus made clay, and anointed mine eyes, and said unto me, Go to the pool of Siloam, and wash: and I went and washed, and I received sight.
12 また彼らは彼に言った。「その人はどこにいるのですか。」彼は「私は知りません。」と言った。
Then said they unto him, Where is he? He said, I know not.
13 彼らは、前に盲目であったその人を、パリサイ人たちのところに連れて行った。
They brought to the Pharisees him that in old times was blind.
14 ところで、イエスが泥を作って彼の目をあけられたのは、安息日であった。
And it was the sabbath day when Jesus made the clay, and opened his eyes.
15 こういうわけでもう一度、パリサイ人も彼に、どのようにして見えるようになったかを尋ねた。彼は言った。「あの方が私の目に泥を塗ってくださって、私が洗いました。私はいま見えるのです。」
Then again the Pharisees also asked him how he had received his sight. He said unto them, He put clay upon mine eyes, and I washed, and do see.
16 すると、パリサイ人の中のある人々が、「その人は神から出たのではない。安息日を守らないからだ。」と言った。しかし、ほかの者は言った。「罪人である者に、どうしてこのようなしるしを行なうことができよう。」そして、彼らの間に、分裂が起こった。
Therefore said some of the Pharisees, This man is not of God, because he keeps not the sabbath day. Others said, How can a man that is a sinner do such miracles? And there was a division among them.
17 そこで彼らはもう一度、盲人に言った。「あの人が目をあけてくれたことで、あの人を何だと思っているのか。」彼は言った。「あの方は預言者です。」
They say unto the blind man again, What say you of him, that he has opened your eyes? He said, He is a prophet.
18 しかしユダヤ人たちは、目が見えるようになったこの人について、彼が盲目であったが見えるようになったということを信ぜず、ついにその両親を呼び出して、
But the Jews did not believe concerning him, that he had been blind, and received his sight, until they called the parents of him that had received his sight.
19 尋ねて言った。「この人はあなたがたの息子で、生まれつき盲目だったとあなたがたが言っている人ですか。それでは、どうしていま見えるのですか。」
And they asked them, saying, Is this your son, who all of you say was born blind? how then does he now see?
20 そこで両親は答えた。「私たちは、これが私たちの息子で、生まれつき盲目だったことを知っています。
His parents answered them and said, We know that this is our son, and that he was born blind:
21 しかし、どのようにしていま見えるのかは知りません。また、だれがあれの目をあけたのか知りません。あれに聞いてください。あれはもうおとなです。自分のことは自分で話すでしょう。」
But by what means he now sees, we know not; or who has opened his eyes, we know not: he is of age; ask him: he shall speak for himself.
22 彼の両親がこう言ったのは、ユダヤ人たちを恐れたからであった。すでにユダヤ人たちは、イエスをキリストであると告白する者があれば、その者を会堂から追放すると決めていたからである。
These words spoke his parents, because they feared the Jews: for the Jews had agreed already, that if any man did confess that he was Christ, he should be put out of the synagogue.
23 そのために彼の両親は、「あれはもうおとなです。あれに聞いてください。」と言ったのである。
Therefore said his parents, He is of age; ask him.
24 そこで彼らは、盲目であった人をもう一度呼び出して言った。「神に栄光を帰しなさい。私たちはあの人が罪人であることを知っているのだ。」
Then again called they the man that was blind, and said unto him, Give God the praise: we know that this man is a sinner.
25 彼は答えた。「あの方が罪人かどうか、私は知りません。ただ一つのことだけ知っています。私は盲目であったのに、今は見えるということです。」
He answered and said, Whether he be a sinner or no, I know not: one thing I know, that, whereas I was blind, now I see.
26 そこで彼らは言った。「あの人はおまえに何をしたのか。どのようにしてその目をあけたのか。」
Then said they to him again, What did he to you? how opened he your eyes?
27 彼は答えた。「もうお話ししたのですが、あなたがたは聞いてくれませんでした。なぜもう一度聞こうとするのです。あなたがたも、あの方の弟子になりたいのですか。」
He answered them, I have told you already, and all of you did not hear: wherefore would all of you hear it again? will all of you also be his disciples?
28 彼らは彼をののしって言った。「おまえもあの者の弟子だ。しかし私たちはモーセの弟子だ。
Then they reviled him, and said, You are his disciple; but we are Moses' disciples.
29 私たちは、神がモーセにお話しになったことは知っている。しかし、あの者については、どこから来たのか知らないのだ。」
We know that God spoke unto Moses: as for this fellow, we know not from whence he is.
30 彼は答えて言った。「これは、驚きました。あなたがたは、あの方がどこから来られたのか、ご存じないと言う。しかし、あの方は私の目をおあけになったのです。
The man answered and said unto them, Why herein is a marvellous thing, that all of you know not from whence he is, and yet he has opened mine eyes.
31 神は、罪人の言うことはお聞きになりません。しかし、だれでも神を敬い、そのみこころを行なうなら、神はその人の言うことを聞いてくださると、私たちは知っています。
Now we know that God hears not sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of God, and does his will, him he hears.
Since the world began was it not heard that any man opened the eyes of one that was born blind. (aiōn g165)
33 もしあの方が神から出ておられるのでなかったら、何もできないはずです。」
If this man were not of God, he could do nothing.
34 彼らは答えて言った。「おまえは全く罪の中に生まれていながら、私たちを教えるのか。」そして、彼を外に追い出した。
They answered and said unto him, You were altogether born in sins, and do you teach us? And they cast him out.
35 イエスは、彼らが彼を追放したことを聞き、彼を見つけ出して言われた。「あなたは人の子を信じますか。」
Jesus heard that they had cast him out; and when he had found him, he said unto him, Do you believe on the Son of God?
36 その人は答えた。「主よ。その方はどなたでしょうか。私がその方を信じることができますように。」
He answered and said, Who is he, Lord, that I might believe on him?
37 イエスは彼に言われた。「あなたはその方を見たのです。あなたと話しているのがそれです。」
And Jesus said unto him, You have both seen him, and it is he that talks with you.
38 彼は言った。「主よ。私は信じます。」そして彼はイエスを拝した。
And he said, Lord, I believe. And he worshipped him.
39 そこで、イエスは言われた。「わたしはさばきのためにこの世に来ました。それは、目の見えない者が見えるようになり、見える者が盲目となるためです。」
And Jesus said, For judgment I am come into this world, that they which see not might see; and that they which see might be made blind.
40 パリサイ人の中でイエスとともにいた人々が、このことを聞いて、イエスに言った。「私たちも盲目なのですか。」
And some of the Pharisees which were with him heard these words, and said unto him, Are we blind also?
41 イエスは彼らに言われた。「もしあなたがたが盲目であったなら、あなたがたに罪はなかったでしょう。しかし、あなたがたは今、『私たちは目が見える。』と言っています。あなたがたの罪は残るのです。」
Jesus said unto them, If all of you were blind, all of you should have no sin: but now all of you say, We see; therefore your sin remains.
