ヨハネの福音書 8
1 イエスはオリーブ山に行かれた。
Jesus went unto the mount of Olives.
2 そして、朝早く、イエスはもう一度宮にはいられた。民衆はみな、みもとに寄って来た。イエスはすわって、彼らに教え始められた。
And early in the morning he came again into the temple, and all the people came unto him; and he sat down, and taught them.
3 すると、律法学者とパリサイ人が、姦淫の場で捕えられたひとりの女を連れて来て、真中に置いてから、
And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto him a woman taken in adultery; and when they had set her in the midst,
4 イエスに言った。「先生。この女は姦淫の現場でつかまえられたのです。
They say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act.
5 モーセは律法の中で、こういう女を石打ちにするように命じています。ところで、あなたは何と言われますか。」
Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what say you?
6 彼らはイエスをためしてこう言ったのである。それは、イエスを告発する理由を得るためであった。しかし、イエスは身をかがめて、指で地面に書いておられた。
This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not.
7 けれども、彼らが問い続けてやめなかったので、イエスは身を起こして言われた。「あなたがたのうちで罪のない者が、最初に彼女に石を投げなさい。」
So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.
8 そしてイエスは、もう一度身をかがめて、地面に書かれた。
And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground.
9 彼らはそれを聞くと、年長者たちから始めて、ひとりひとり出て行き、イエスがひとり残された。女はそのままそこにいた。
And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst.
10 イエスは身を起こして、その女に言われた。「婦人よ。あの人たちは今どこにいますか。あなたを罪に定める者はなかったのですか。」
When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those your accusers? has no man condemned you?
11 彼女は言った。「だれもいません。」そこで、イエスは言われた。「わたしもあなたを罪に定めない。行きなさい。今からは決して罪を犯してはなりません。」］
She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn you: go, and sin no more.
12 イエスはまた彼らに語って言われた。「わたしは、世の光です。わたしに従う者は、決してやみの中を歩むことがなく、いのちの光を持つのです。」
Then spoke Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that follows me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.
13 そこでパリサイ人はイエスに言った。「あなたは自分のことを自分で証言しています。だから、あなたの証言は真実ではありません。」
The Pharisees therefore said unto him, You bear record of yourself; your record is not true.
14 イエスは答えて、彼らに言われた。「もしこのわたしが自分のことを証言するなら、その証言は真実です。わたしは、わたしがどこから来たか、また、どこへ行くかを知っているからです。しかしあなたがたは、わたしがどこから来たのか、またどこへ行くのか知りません。
Jesus answered and said unto them, Though I bear record of myself, yet my record is true: for I know whence I came, and where I go; but all of you cannot tell whence I come, and where I go.
15 あなたがたは肉によってさばきます。わたしはだれをもさばきません。
All of you judge after the flesh; I judge no man.
16 しかし、もしわたしがさばくなら、そのさばきは正しいのです。なぜなら、わたしひとりではなく、わたしとわたしを遣わした方とがさばくのだからです。
And yet if I judge, my judgment is true: for I am not alone, but I and the Father that sent me.
17 あなたがたの律法にも、ふたりの証言は真実であると書かれています。
It is also written in your law, that the testimony of two men is true.
18 わたしが自分の証人であり、また、わたしを遣わした父が、わたしについてあかしされます。」
I am one that bear witness of myself, and the Father that sent me bears witness of me.
19 すると、彼らはイエスに言った。「あなたの父はどこにいるのですか。」イエスは答えられた。「あなたがたは、わたしをも、わたしの父をも知りません。もし、あなたがたがわたしを知っていたなら、わたしの父をも知っていたでしょう。」
Then said they unto him, Where is your Father? Jesus answered, All of you neither know me, nor my Father: if all of you had known me, all of you should have known my Father also.
20 イエスは宮で教えられたとき、献金箱のある所でこのことを話された。しかし、だれもイエスを捕えなかった。イエスの時がまだ来ていなかったからである。
These words (rhema) spoke Jesus in the treasury, as he taught in the temple: and no man laid hands on him; for his hour was not yet come.
21 イエスはまた彼らに言われた。「わたしは去って行きます。あなたがたはわたしを捜すけれども、自分の罪の中で死にます。わたしが行く所に、あなたがたは来ることができません。」
Then said Jesus again unto them, I go my way, and all of you shall seek me, and shall die in your sins: where I go, all of you cannot come.
22 そこで、ユダヤ人たちは言った。「あの人は『わたしが行く所に、あなたがたは来ることができない。』と言うが、自殺するつもりなのか。」
Then said the Jews, Will he kill himself? because he says, Where I go, all of you cannot come.
23 それでイエスは彼らに言われた。「あなたがたが来たのは下からであり、わたしが来たのは上からです。あなたがたはこの世の者であり、わたしはこの世の者ではありません。
And he said unto them, All of you are from beneath; I am from above: all of you are of this world; I am not of this world.
24 それでわたしは、あなたがたが自分の罪の中で死ぬと、あなたがたに言ったのです。もしあなたがたが、わたしのことを信じなければ、あなたがたは自分の罪の中で死ぬのです。」
I said therefore unto you, that all of you shall die in your sins: for if all of you believe not that I am he, all of you shall die in your sins.
25 そこで、彼らはイエスに言った。「あなたはだれですか。」イエスは言われた。「初めからわたしがあなたがたに話して来たことは何でしたか。
Then said they unto him, Who are you? And Jesus says unto them, Even the same that I said unto you from the beginning.
26 あなたがたについて言うべきこと、さばくべきことがたくさんあります。しかし、わたしを遣わした方は真実であって、わたしはその方から聞いたことをそのまま世に告げるのです。」
I have many things to say and to judge of you: but he that sent me is true; and I speak to the world those things which I have heard of him.
27 彼らは、イエスが父のことを語っておられたことを悟らなかった。
They understood not that he spoke to them of the Father.
28 イエスは言われた。「あなたがたが人の子を上げてしまうと、その時、あなたがたは、わたしが何であるか、また、わたしがわたし自身からは何事もせず、ただ父がわたしに教えられたとおりに、これらのことを話していることを、知るようになります。
Then said Jesus unto them, When all of you have lifted up the Son of man, then shall all of you know that I am he, and that I do nothing of myself; but as my Father has taught me, I speak these things.
29 わたしを遣わした方はわたしとともにおられます。わたしをひとり残されることはありません。わたしがいつも、そのみこころにかなうことを行なうからです。」
And he that sent me is with me: the Father has not left me alone; for I do always those things that please him.
30 イエスがこれらのことを話しておられると、多くの者がイエスを信じた。
As he spoke these words, many believed on him.
31 そこでイエスは、その信じたユダヤ人たちに言われた。「もしあなたがたが、わたしのことばにとどまるなら、あなたがたはほんとうにわたしの弟子です。
Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If all of you continue in my word, (logos) then are all of you my disciples indeed;
32 そして、あなたがたは真理を知り、真理はあなたがたを自由にします。」
And all of you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
33 彼らはイエスに答えた。「私たちはアブラハムの子孫であって、決してだれの奴隷になったこともありません。あなたはどうして、『あなたがたは自由になる。』と言われるのですか。」
They answered him, We be Abraham's seed, and were never in bondage to any man: how say you, All of you shall be made free?
34 イエスは彼らに答えられた。「まことに、まことに、あなたがたに告げます。罪を行なっている者はみな、罪の奴隷です。
Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever commits sin is the servant of sin.
And the servant abides not in the house for ever: but the Son abides ever. (aiōn g165)
36 ですから、もし子があなたがたを自由にするなら、あなたがたはほんとうに自由なのです。
If the Son therefore shall make you free, all of you shall be free indeed.
37 わたしは、あなたがたがアブラハムの子孫であることを知っています。しかしあなたがたはわたしを殺そうとしています。わたしのことばが、あなたがたのうちにはいっていないからです。
I know that all of you are Abraham's seed; but all of you seek to kill me, because my word (logos) has no place in you.
38 わたしは父のもとで見たことを話しています。ところが、あなたがたは、あなたがたの父から示されたことを行なうのです。」
I speak that which I have seen with my Father: and all of you do that which all of you have seen with your father.
39 彼らは答えて言った。「私たちの父はアブラハムです。」イエスは彼らに言われた。「あなたがたがアブラハムの子どもなら、アブラハムのわざを行ないなさい。
They answered and said unto him, Abraham is our father. Jesus says unto them, If all of you were Abraham's children, all of you would do the works of Abraham.
40 ところが今あなたがたは、神から聞いた真理をあなたがたに話しているこのわたしを、殺そうとしています。アブラハムはそのようなことはしなかったのです。
But now all of you seek to kill me, a man that has told you the truth, which I have heard of God: this did not Abraham.
41 あなたがたは、あなたがたの父のわざを行なっています。」彼らは言った。「私たちは不品行によって生まれた者ではありません。私たちにはひとりの父、神があります。」
All of you do the deeds of your father. Then said they to him, We be not born of fornication; we have one Father, even God.
42 イエスは言われた。「神がもしあなたがたの父であるなら、あなたがたはわたしを愛するはずです。なぜなら、わたしは神から出て来てここにいるからです。わたしは自分で来たのではなく、神がわたしを遣わしたのです。
Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, all of you would love me: for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me.
43 あなたがたは、なぜわたしの話していることがわからないのでしょう。それは、あなたがたがわたしのことばに耳を傾けることができないからです。
Why do all of you not understand my speech? even because all of you cannot hear my word. (logos)
44 あなたがたは、あなたがたの父である悪魔から出た者であって、あなたがたの父の欲望を成し遂げたいと願っているのです。悪魔は初めから人殺しであり、真理に立ってはいません。彼のうちには真理がないからです。彼が偽りを言うときは、自分にふさわしい話し方をしているのです。なぜなら彼は偽り者であり、また偽りの父であるからです。
All of you are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father all of you will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.
45 しかし、このわたしは真理を話しているために、あなたがたはわたしを信じません。
And because I tell you the truth, all of you believe me not.
46 あなたがたのうちだれか、わたしに罪があると責める者がいますか。わたしが真理を話しているなら、なぜわたしを信じないのですか。
Which of you convinces me of sin? And if I say the truth, why do all of you not believe me?
47 神から出た者は、神のことばに聞き従います。ですから、あなたがたが聞き従わないのは、あなたがたが神から出た者でないからです。」
He that is of God hears God's words: (rhema) all of you therefore hear them not, because all of you are not of God.
48 ユダヤ人たちは答えて、イエスに言った。「私たちが、あなたはサマリヤ人で、悪霊につかれていると言うのは当然ではありませんか。」
Then answered the Jews, and said unto him, Say we not well that you are a Samaritan, and have a devil?
49 イエスは答えられた。「わたしは悪霊につかれてはいません。わたしは父を敬っています。しかしあなたがたは、わたしを卑しめています。
Jesus answered, I have not a devil; but I honour my Father, and all of you do dishonour me.
50 しかし、わたしはわたしの栄誉を求めません。それをお求めになり、さばきをなさる方がおられます。
And I seek not mine own glory: there is one that seeks and judges.
Verily, verily, I say unto you, If a man keep my saying, (logos) he shall never see death. (aiōn g165)
52 ユダヤ人たちはイエスに言った。「あなたが悪霊につかれていることが、今こそわかりました。アブラハムは死に、預言者たちも死にました。しかし、あなたは、『だれでもわたしのことばを守るならば、その人は決して死を味わうことがない。』と言うのです。 (aiōn g165)
Then said the Jews unto him, Now we know that you have a devil. Abraham is dead, and the prophets; and you say, If a man keep my saying, (logos) he shall never taste of death. (aiōn g165)
53 あなたは、私たちの父アブラハムよりも偉大なのですか。そのアブラハムは死んだのです。預言者たちもまた死にました。あなたは、自分自身をだれだと言うのですか。」
Are you greater than our father Abraham, which is dead? and the prophets are dead: whom make you yourself?
54 イエスは答えられた。「わたしがもし自分自身に栄光を帰するなら、わたしの栄光はむなしいものです。わたしに栄光を与える方は、わたしの父です。この方のことを、あなたがたは『私たちの神である。』と言っています。
Jesus answered, If I honour myself, my honour is nothing: it is my Father that honors me; of whom all of you say, that he is your God:
55 けれどもあなたがたはこの方を知ってはいません。しかし、わたしは知っています。もしわたしがこの方を知らないと言うなら、わたしはあなたがたと同様に偽り者となるでしょう。しかし、わたしはこの方を知っており、そのみことばを守っています。
Yet all of you have not known him; but I know him: and if I should say, I know him not, I shall be a liar like unto you: but I know him, and keep his saying. (logos)
56 あなたがたの父アブラハムは、わたしの日を見ることを思って大いに喜びました。彼はそれを見て、喜んだのです。」
Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad.
57 そこで、ユダヤ人たちはイエスに向かって言った。「あなたはまだ五十歳になっていないのにアブラハムを見たのですか。」
Then said the Jews unto him, You are not yet fifty years old, and have you seen Abraham?
58 イエスは彼らに言われた。「まことに、まことに、あなたがたに告げます。アブラハムが生まれる前から、わたしはいるのです。」
Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.
59 すると彼らは石を取ってイエスに投げつけようとした。しかし、イエスは身を隠して、宮から出て行かれた。
Then took they up stones to cast at him: but Jesus hid himself, and went out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by.
