エペソ人への手紙 1
1 神のみこころによるキリスト・イエスの使徒パウロから、キリスト・イエスにある忠実なエペソの聖徒たちへ。
Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, to the saints which are at Ephesus, and to the faithful in Christ Jesus:
2 私たちの父なる神と主イエス・キリストから、恵みと平安があなたがたの上にありますように。
Grace be to you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.
3 私たちの主イエス・キリストの父なる神がほめたたえられますように。神はキリストにおいて、天にあるすべての霊的祝福をもって私たちを祝福してくださいました。
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:
4 すなわち、神は私たちを世界の基の置かれる前からキリストのうちに選び、御前できよく、傷のない者にしようとされました。
According as he has chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: (agape)
5 神は、ただみこころのままに、私たちをイエス・キリストによってご自分の子にしようと、愛をもってあらかじめ定めておられたのです。
Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,
6 それは、神がその愛する方によって私たちに与えてくださった恵みの栄光が、ほめたたえられるためです。
To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he has made us accepted in the beloved.
7 私たちは、この御子のうちにあって、御子の血による贖い、すなわち罪の赦しを受けているのです。これは神の豊かな恵みによることです。
In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;
8 神はこの恵みを私たちの上にあふれさせ、あらゆる知恵と思慮深さをもって、
Wherein he has abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence;
9 みこころの奥義を私たちに知らせてくださいました。それは、神が御子においてあらかじめお立てになったご計画によることであって、
Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he has purposed in himself:
10 時がついに満ちて、この時のためのみこころが実行に移され、天にあるものも地にあるものも、いっさいのものが、キリストにあって一つに集められることなのです。このキリストにあって、
That in the dispensation of the fullness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him:
11 私たちは彼にあって御国を受け継ぐ者ともなったのです。私たちは、みこころによりご計画のままをみな実現される方の目的に従って、このようにあらかじめ定められていたのです。
In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who works all things after the counsel of his own will:
12 それは、前からキリストに望みを置いていた私たちが、神の栄光をほめたたえる者となるためです。
That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.
13 またあなたがたも、キリストにあって、真理のことば、すなわちあなたがたの救いの福音を聞き、またそれを信じたことによって、約束の聖霊をもって証印を押されました。
In whom all of you also trusted, after that all of you heard the word (logos) of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that all of you believed, all of you were sealed with that holy Spirit (pneuma) of promise,
14 聖霊は私たちが御国を受け継ぐことの保証であられます。これは神の民の贖いのためであり、神の栄光がほめたたえられるためです。
Which is the earn of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.
15 こういうわけで、私は主イエスに対するあなたがたの信仰と、すべての聖徒に対する愛とを聞いて、
Wherefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus, and love (agape) unto all the saints,
16 あなたがたのために絶えず感謝をささげ、あなたがたのことを覚えて祈っています。
Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers;
17 どうか、私たちの主イエス・キリストの神、すなわち栄光の父が、神を知るための知恵と啓示の御霊を、あなたがたに与えてくださいますように。
That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit (pneuma) of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:
18 また、あなたがたの心の目がはっきり見えるようになって、神の召しによって与えられる望みがどのようなものか、聖徒の受け継ぐものがどのように栄光に富んだものか、
The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that all of you may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,
19 また、神の全能の力の働きによって私たち信じる者に働く神のすぐれた力がどのように偉大なものであるかを、あなたがたが知ることができますように。
And what is the exceeding greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to the working of his mighty power,
20 神は、その全能の力をキリストのうちに働かせて、キリストを死者の中からよみがえらせ、天上においてご自分の右の座に着かせて、
Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places,
Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: (aiōn g165)
22 また、神は、いっさいのものをキリストの足の下に従わせ、いっさいのものの上に立つかしらであるキリストを、教会にお与えになりました。
And has put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church,
23 教会はキリストのからだであり、いっさいのものをいっさいのものによって満たす方の満ちておられるところです。
Which is his body, the fullness of him that fills all in all.
