使徒の働き 5
1 ところが、アナニヤという人は、妻のサッピラとともにその持ち物を売り、
But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession,
2 妻も承知のうえで、その代金の一部を残しておき、ある部分を持って来て、使徒たちの足もとに置いた。
And kept back part of the price, his wife also being privy to it, and brought a certain part, and laid it at the apostles' feet.
3 そこで、ペテロがこう言った。「アナニヤ。どうしてあなたはサタンに心を奪われ、聖霊を欺いて、地所の代金の一部を自分のために残しておいたのか。
But Peter said, Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit, (pneuma) and to keep back part of the price of the land?
4 それはもともとあなたのものであり、売ってからもあなたの自由になったのではないか。なぜこのようなことをたくらんだのか。あなたは人を欺いたのではなく、神を欺いたのだ。」
While it remained, was it not your own? and after it was sold, was it not in your own power? why have you conceived this thing in your heart? you have not lied unto men, but unto God.
5 アナニヤはこのことばを聞くと、倒れて息が絶えた。そして、これを聞いたすべての人に、非常な恐れが生じた。
And Ananias hearing these words (logos) fell down, and gave up the spirit: and great fear came on all them that heard these things.
6 青年たちは立って、彼を包み、運び出して葬った。
And the young men arose, wound him up, and carried him out, and buried him.
7 三時間ほどたって、彼の妻はこの出来事を知らずにはいって来た。
And it was about the space of three hours after, when his wife, not knowing what was done, came in.
8 ペテロは彼女にこう言った。「あなたがたは地所をこの値段で売ったのですか。私に言いなさい。」彼女は「はい。その値段です。」と言った。
And Peter answered unto her, Tell me whether all of you sold the land for so much? And she said, Yea, for so much.
9 そこで、ペテロは彼女に言った。「どうしてあなたがたは心を合わせて、主の御霊を試みたのですか。見なさい、あなたの夫を葬った者たちが、戸口に来ていて、あなたをも運び出します。」
Then Peter said unto her, How is it that all of you have agreed together to tempt the Spirit (pneuma) of the Lord? behold, the feet of them which have buried your husband are at the door, and shall carry you out.
10 すると彼女は、たちまちペテロの足もとに倒れ、息が絶えた。はいって来た青年たちは、彼女が死んだのを見て、運び出し、夫のそばに葬った。
Then fell she down immediately at his feet, and yielded up the spirit: and the young men came in, and found her dead, and, carrying her forth, buried her by her husband.
11 そして、教会全体と、このことを聞いたすべての人たちとに、非常な恐れが生じた。
And great fear came upon all the church, and upon as many as heard these things.
12 また、使徒たちの手によって、多くのしるしと不思議なわざが人々の間で行なわれた。みなは一つ心になってソロモンの廊にいた。
And by the hands of the apostles were many signs and wonders wrought among the people; (and they were all with one accord in Solomon's porch.
13 ほかの人々は、ひとりもこの交わりに加わろうとしなかったが、その人々は彼らを尊敬していた。
And of the rest durst no man join himself to them: but the people magnified them.
14 そればかりか、主を信じる者は男も女もますますふえていった。
And believers were the more added to the Lord, multitudes both of men and women.)
15 ついに、人々は病人を大通りへ運び出し、寝台や寝床の上に寝かせ、ペテロが通りかかるときには、せめてその影でも、だれかにかかるようにするほどになった。
Insomuch that they brought forth the sick into the streets, and laid them on beds and couches, that at the least the shadow of Peter passing by might overshadow some of them.
16 また、エルサレムの付近の町々から、大ぜいの人が、病人や、汚れた霊に苦しめられている人などを連れて集まって来たが、その全部がいやされた。
There came also a multitude out of the cities round about unto Jerusalem, bringing sick folks, and them which were vexed with unclean spirits: (pneuma) and they were healed every one.
17 そこで、大祭司とその仲間たち全部、すなわちサドカイ派の者はみな、ねたみに燃えて立ち上がり、
Then the high priest rose up, and all they that were with him, (which is the sect of the Sadducees, ) and were filled with indignation,
18 使徒たちを捕え、留置場に入れた。
And laid their hands on the apostles, and put them in the common prison.
19 ところが、夜、主の使いが牢の戸を開き、彼らを連れ出し、
But the angel of the Lord by night opened the prison doors, and brought them forth, and said,
20 「行って宮の中に立ち、人々にこのいのちのことばを、ことごとく語りなさい。」と言った。
Go, stand and speak in the temple to the people all the words (rhema) of this life.
21 彼らはこれを聞くと、夜明けごろ宮にはいって教え始めた。一方、大祭司とその仲間たちは集まって来て、議会とイスラエル人のすべての長老を召集し、使徒たちを引き出して来させるために、人を獄舎にやった。
And when they heard that, they entered into the temple early in the morning, and taught. But the high priest came, and they that were with him, and called the council together, and all the senate of the children of Israel, and sent to the prison to have them brought.
22 ところが役人たちが行ってみると、牢の中には彼らがいなかったので、引き返してこう報告した。
But when the officers came, and found them not in the prison, they returned and told,
23 「獄舎は完全にしまっており、番人たちが戸口に立っていましたが、あけてみると、中にはだれもおりませんでした。」
Saying, The prison truly found we shut with all safety, and the keepers standing without before the doors: but when we had opened, we found no man within.
24 宮の守衛長や祭司長たちは、このことばを聞いて、いったいこれはどうなって行くのかと、使徒たちのことで当惑した。
Now when the high priest and the captain of the temple and the chief priests heard these things, (logos) they doubted of them unto which this would grow.
25 そこへ、ある人がやって来て、「大変です。あなたがたが牢に入れた人たちが、宮の中に立って、人々を教えています。」と告げた。
Then came one and told them, saying, Behold, the men whom all of you put in prison are standing in the temple, and teaching the people.
26 そこで、宮の守衛長は役人たちといっしょに出て行き、使徒たちを連れて来た。しかし、手荒なことはしなかった。人々に石で打ち殺されるのを恐れたからである。
Then went the captain with the officers, and brought them without violence: for they feared the people, lest they should have been stoned.
27 彼らが使徒たちを連れて来て議会の中に立たせると、大祭司は使徒たちを問いただして、
And when they had brought them, they set them before the council: and the high priest asked them,
28 言った。「あの名によって教えてはならないときびしく命じておいたのに、何ということだ。エルサレム中にあなたがたの教えを広めてしまい、そのうえ、あの人の血の責任をわれわれに負わせようとしているではないか。」
Saying, Did not we strictly command you that all of you should not teach in this name? and, behold, all of you have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and intend to bring this man's blood upon us.
29 ペテロをはじめ使徒たちは答えて言った。「人に従うより、神に従うべきです。
Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.
30 私たちの先祖の神は、あなたがたが十字架にかけて殺したイエスを、よみがえらせたのです。
The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom all of you slew and hanged on a tree.
31 そして神は、イスラエルに悔い改めと罪の赦しを与えるために、このイエスを君とし、救い主として、ご自分の右に上げられました。
Him has God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, in order to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.
32 私たちはそのことの証人です。神がご自分に従う者たちにお与えになった聖霊もそのことの証人です。」
And we are his witnesses of these things; (rhema) and so is also the Holy Spirit, (pneuma) whom God has given to them that obey him.
33 彼らはこれを聞いて怒り狂い、使徒たちを殺そうと計った。
When they heard that, they were cut to the heart, and took counsel to slay them.
34 ところが、すべての人に尊敬されている律法学者で、ガマリエルというパリサイ人が議会の中に立ち、使徒たちをしばらく外に出させるように命じた。
Then stood there up one in the council, a Pharisee, named Gamaliel, a doctor of the law, had in reputation among all the people, and commanded to put the apostles forth a little space;
35 それから、議員たちに向かってこう言った。「イスラエルの皆さん。この人々をどう扱うか、よく気をつけてください。
And said unto them, All of you men of Israel, take heed to yourselves what all of you intend to do as concerning these men.
36 というのは、先ごろチゥダが立ち上がって、自分を何か偉い者のように言い、彼に従った男の数が四百人ほどありましたが、結局、彼は殺され、従った者はみな散らされて、あとかたもなくなりました。
For before these days rose up Theudas, boasting himself to be somebody; to whom a number of men, about four hundred, joined themselves: who was slain; and all, as many as obeyed him, were scattered, and brought to nothing.
37 その後、人口調査のとき、ガリラヤ人ユダが立ち上がり、民衆をそそのかして反乱を起こしましたが、自分は滅び、従った者たちもみな散らされてしまいました。
After this man rose up Judas of Galilee in the days of the taxing, and drew away much people after him: he also perished; and all, even as many as obeyed him, were dispersed.
38 そこで今、あなたがたに申したいのです。あの人たちから手を引き、放っておきなさい。もし、その計画や行動が人から出たものならば、自滅してしまうでしょう。
And now I say unto you, Refrain from these men, and let them alone: for if this counsel or this work be of men, it will come to nothing:
39 しかし、もし神から出たものならば、あなたがたには彼らを滅ぼすことはできないでしょう。もしかすれば、あなたがたは神に敵対する者になってしまいます。」彼らは彼に説得され、
But if it be of God, all of you cannot overthrow it; lest lest by any means all of you be found even to fight against God.
40 使徒たちを呼んで、彼らをむちで打ち、イエスの名によって語ってはならないと言い渡したうえで釈放した。
And to him they agreed: and when they had called the apostles, and beaten them, they commanded that they should not speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go.
41 そこで、使徒たちは、御名のためにはずかしめられるに値する者とされたことを喜びながら、議会から出て行った。
And they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for his name.
42 そして、毎日、宮や家々で教え、イエスがキリストであることを宣べ伝え続けた。
And daily in the temple, and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ.
