使徒の働き 4
1 彼らが民に話していると、祭司たち、宮の守衛長、またサドカイ人たちがやって来たが、
And as they spoke unto the people, the priests, and the captain of the temple, and the Sadducees, came upon them,
2 この人たちは、ペテロとヨハネが民を教え、イエスのことを例にあげて死者の復活を宣べ伝えているのに、困り果て、
Being grieved that they taught the people, and preached through Jesus the resurrection from the dead.
3 彼らに手をかけて捕えた。そして翌日まで留置することにした。すでに夕方だったからである。
And they laid hands on them, and put them in hold unto the next day: for it was now evening.
4 しかし、みことばを聞いた人々が大ぜい信じ、男の数が五千人ほどになった。
Nevertheless many of them which heard the word (logos) believed; and the number of the men was about five thousand.
5 翌日、民の指導者、長老、学者たちは、エルサレムに集まった。
And it came to pass on the next day, that their rulers, and elders, and scribes,
6 大祭司アンナス、カヤパ、ヨハネ、アレキサンデル、そのほか大祭司の一族もみな出席した。
And Annas the high priest, and Caiaphas, and John, and Alexander, and as many as were of the kindred of the high priest, were gathered together at Jerusalem.
7 彼らは使徒たちを真中に立たせて、「あなたがたは何の権威によって、また、だれの名によってこんなことをしたのか。」と尋問しだした。
And when they had set them in the midst, they asked, By what power, or by what name, have all of you done this?
8 そのとき、ペテロは聖霊に満たされて、彼らに言った。「民の指導者たち、ならびに長老の方々。
Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, (pneuma) said unto them, All of you rulers of the people, and elders of Israel,
9 私たちがきょう取り調べられているのが、病人に行なった良いわざについてであり、その人が何によっていやされたか、ということのためであるなら、
If we this day be examined of the good deed done to the impotent man, by what means he is made whole;
10 皆さんも、またイスラエルのすべての人々も、よく知ってください。この人が直って、あなたがたの前に立っているのは、あなたがたが十字架につけ、神が死者の中からよみがえらせたナザレ人イエス・キリストの御名によるのです。
Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom all of you crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him does this man stand here before you whole.
11 『あなたがた家を建てる者たちに捨てられた石が、礎の石となった。』というのはこの方のことです。
This is the stone which was set at nothing of you builders, which is become the head of the corner.
12 この方以外には、だれによっても救いはありません。世界中でこの御名のほかには、私たちが救われるべき名としては、どのような名も、人間に与えられていないからです。」
Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is no other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
13 彼らはペテロとヨハネとの大胆さを見、またふたりが無学な、普通の人であるのを知って驚いたが、ふたりがイエスとともにいたのだ、ということがわかって来た。
Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus.
14 そればかりでなく、いやされた人がふたりといっしょに立っているのを見ては、返すことばもなかった。
And beholding the man which was healed standing with them, they could say nothing against it.
15 彼らはふたりに議会から退場するように命じ、そして互いに協議した。
But when they had commanded them to go aside out of the council, they conferred among themselves,
16 彼らは言った。「あの人たちをどうしよう。あの人たちによって著しいしるしが行なわれたことは、エルサレムの住民全部に知れ渡っているから、われわれはそれを否定できない。
Saying, What shall we do to these men? for that indeed a notable miracle has been done by them is manifest to all them that dwell in Jerusalem; and we cannot deny it.
17 しかし、これ以上民の間に広がらないために、今後だれにもこの名によって語ってはならないと、彼らをきびしく戒めよう。」
But that it spread no further among the people, let us strictly threaten them, that they speak henceforth to no man in this name.
18 そこで彼らを呼んで、いっさいイエスの名によって語ったり教えたりしてはならない、と命じた。
And they called them, and commanded them not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus.
19 ペテロとヨハネは彼らに答えて言った。「神に聞き従うより、あなたがたに聞き従うほうが、神の前に正しいかどうか、判断してください。
But Peter and John answered and said unto them, Whether it be right in the sight of God to hearken unto you more than unto God, judge all of you.
20 私たちは、自分の見たこと、また聞いたことを、話さないわけにはいきません。」
For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard.
21 そこで、彼らはふたりをさらにおどしたうえで、釈放した。それはみなの者が、この出来事のゆえに神をあがめていたので、人々の手前、ふたりを罰するすべがなかったからである。
So when they had further threatened them, they let them go, finding nothing how they might punish them, because of the people: for all men glorified God for that which was done.
22 この奇蹟によっていやされた男は四十歳余りであった。
For the man was above forty years old, on whom this miracle of healing was showed.
23 釈放されたふたりは、仲間のところへ行き、祭司長たちや長老たちが彼らに言ったことを残らず報告した。
And being let go, they went to their own company, and reported all that the chief priests and elders had said unto them.
24 これを聞いた人々はみな、心を一つにして、神に向かい、声を上げて言った。「主よ。あなたは天と地と海とその中のすべてのものを造られた方です。
And when they heard that, they lifted up their voice to God with one accord, and said, Lord, you are God, which have made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all that in them is:
25 あなたは、聖霊によって、あなたのしもべであり私たちの先祖であるダビデの口を通して、こう言われました。 『なぜ異邦人たちは騒ぎ立ち、 もろもろの民はむなしいことを計るのか。
Who by the mouth of your servant David have said, Why did the heathen rage, and the people imagine vain things?
26 地の王たちは立ち上がり、 指導者たちは、主とキリストに反抗して、 一つに組んだ。』
The kings of the earth stood up, and the rulers were gathered together against the Lord, and against his Christ.
27 事実、ヘロデとポンテオ・ピラトは、異邦人やイスラエルの民といっしょに、あなたが油を注がれた、あなたの聖なるしもべイエスに逆らってこの都に集まり、
For truthfully against your holy child Jesus, whom you have anointed, both Herod, and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles, and the people of Israel, were gathered together,
28 あなたの御手とみこころによって、あらかじめお定めになったことを行ないました。
In order to do whatsoever your hand and your counsel determined before to be done.
29 主よ。いま彼らの脅かしをご覧になり、あなたのしもべたちにみことばを大胆に語らせてください。
And now, Lord, behold their threatenings: and grant unto your servants, that with all boldness they may speak your word, (logos)
30 御手を伸ばしていやしを行なわせ、あなたの聖なるしもべイエスの御名によって、しるしと不思議なわざを行なわせてください。」
By stretching forth your hand to heal; and that signs and wonders may be done by the name of your holy child Jesus.
31 彼らがこう祈ると、その集まっていた場所が震い動き、一同は聖霊に満たされ、神のことばを大胆に語りだした。
And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, (pneuma) and they spoke the word (logos) of God with boldness.
32 信じた者の群れは、心と思いを一つにして、だれひとりその持ち物を自分のものと言わず、すべてを共有にしていた。
And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul: neither said any of them that ought of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things common.
33 使徒たちは、主イエスの復活を非常に力強くあかしし、大きな恵みがそのすべての者の上にあった。
And with great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all.
34 彼らの中には、ひとりも乏しい者がなかった。地所や家を持っている者は、それを売り、代金を携えて来て、
Neither was there any among them that lacked: for as many as were possessors of lands or houses sold them, and brought the prices of the things that were sold,
35 使徒たちの足もとに置き、その金は必要に従っておのおのに分け与えられたからである。
And laid them down at the apostles' feet: and distribution was made unto every man according as he had need.
36 キプロス生まれのレビ人で、使徒たちによってバルナバ（訳すと、慰めの子）と呼ばれていたヨセフも、
And Joses, who by the apostles was surnamed Barnabas, (which is, being interpreted, The son of consolation, ) a Levite, and of the country of Cyprus,
37 畑を持っていたので、それを売り、その代金を持って来て、使徒たちの足もとに置いた。
Having land, sold it, and brought the money, and laid it at the apostles' feet.
