マタイの福音書 23
1 其時イエズス群衆と弟子とに語りて、
THEN Jesus spake to the multitudes and to his disciples,
2 曰ひけるは、律法學士とファリザイ人とはモイゼの講座に坐せり。
saying, The scribes and Pharisees are seated on the chair of Moses;
3 然れば彼等の汝等に云ふ所は、悉く守りて行へ、然れど彼等の行に倣ひて行ふこと勿れ、彼等は言ひて而も行はざればなり。
all things therefore which they prescribe for you to observe, observe and practise; but do not according to their works, for they say, yet do not practise.
4 即彼等は、重く擔ひ難き荷を括りて人の肩に載すれど、己が指先にて之を動かす事をすら否む。
For they bind burdens grievous, and difficultly borne, and lay them on men’s shoulders; but they will not move them with a finger of their own.
5 其凡ての行は人に見られん為にして、即其経牌を闊くし、其繸を大くす。
And all their works they do to be seen of men: they make their phylacteries broad, and deepen the fringes of their garments,
6 また宴席にては上席、會堂にては上座、
and love the principal couch at suppers, and the chief seats in the synagogues,
7 衢にては人の敬禮、又ラビと呼ばるる事を好む。
and salutations in the places of public concourse, and to be called of men, Rabbi, Rabbi.
8 汝等はラビと呼ばるる事勿れ、汝等の師は一個にして、汝等は皆兄弟なればなり。
But be not ye called Rabbi, for one is your leader, the Messiah; and ye all are brethren.
9 又地上の人を汝等の父と稱ふること勿れ、汝等の父は天に在す一個のみなればなり。
And call no man your father upon earth; for one is your father, who is in heaven.
10 又指導師と稱へらるること勿れ、汝等の指導師は一個にして、即キリストなればなり。
And be not called leaders; for one is your leader, the Messiah.
11 汝等の中最大なる者は汝等の僕となるべし。
But he who is greatest among you shall be your servant.
12 自驕る人は下げられ、自遜る人は上げらるべし。
For whosoever exalteth himself shall be abased; and whosoever abaseth himself shall be exalted.
13 禍なる哉汝等、僞善なる律法學士、ファリザイ人等よ、其は人の前に天國を閉ぢ じて、己も入らず、入りつつある人々をも入らしめざればなり。
Wo unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! because ye shut up the kingdom of heaven from men; for ye yourselves enter not in, and those who were coming in, ye suffer not to enter.
14 禍なる哉汝等、僞善なる律法學士ファリザイ人等よ、其は長き祈を唱へて、寡婦等の家を食盡せばなり。汝等は是に由りて最厳しき審判を受けん。
Wo unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye devour widows’ houses, and for a pretence make long prayers: wherefore ye shall receive greater condemnation.
Wo unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye compass sea and land to make one proselyte; and when he is gained, ye make him doubly more the child of hell than yourselves. (Geenna g1067)
16 禍なる哉汝等、瞽者なる手引よ、汝等は云ふ、「総て人[神]殿を指して誓ふは事にも非ず、[神]殿の黄金を指して誓はば果さざるべからず」と。
Wo unto you ye blind guides! who say, Whosoever shall swear by the temple, it is nothing; but whosoever shall swear by the gold of the temple, it is binding.
17 愚にして瞽なる者ども哉、孰か大なるぞ、黄金か、将黄金を聖ならしむる[神]殿か。
Ye fools and blind! for which is the greater, the gold, or the temple which consecrates the gold?
18 [汝等は又云ふ]「総て人祭壇を指して誓ふは事にも非ず、其上なる供物を指して誓はば果さざるべからず」と。
And again, Whosoever shall swear by the altar, it is nothing; but whosoever shall swear by the gift that is upon it, it is binding.
19 瞽者等よ、孰れか大なるぞ、供物か、将供物を聖ならしむる祭壇か。
Ye fools and blind! which is the greater, the gift, or the altar which consecrates the gift?
20 然れば祭壇を指して誓ふ人は、祭壇と総て其上なる物とを指して誓ふなり。
Whosoever therefore sweareth by the altar, sweareth by it, and by all things that are upon it.
21 又総て[神]殿を指して誓ふ人は、[神]殿と其中に住み給ふものとを指して誓ふなり。
And whosoever sweareth by the temple, sweareth by it, and by him also who dwelleth in it.
22 又天を指して誓ふ人は、神の玉座と其上に坐し給ふ者とを指して誓ふなり。
So he that sweareth by heaven, sweareth by the throne of God, and by him who is seated upon it.
23 禍なる哉汝等、僞善なる律法學士ファリザイ人等よ、汝等は薄荷茴香馬芹の十分の一を納めて、而も律法に於て尚重大なる、正義と慈悲と忠實とを遺せり、此事等を為してこそ彼の事をも怠らざるべかりしなれ。
Wo unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithes of mint, and anise, and cummin, and have neglected the weightier precepts of the law, judgment, and mercy, and fidelity: these thing ought ye to have done, and not to leave the others undone.
24 蝐蠉を濾出だして駱駝を呑む瞽者なる手引等よ。
Ye blind guides! who strain out a gnat, but gulp down a camel.
25 禍なる哉汝等、僞善なる律法學士ファリザイ人等よ、其は杯と盤との外を淨めて、内は貪と汚とに充ちたればなり。
Wo unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye cleanse the outside of the cup, and of the dish, but within they are full of rapacity and intemperance.
26 汝瞽者なるファリザイ人よ、先杯と盤との内を淨めよ、然らば外も淨くなるべし。
Thou blind Pharisee! cleanse first the inside of the cup and dish, that their outside may become clean also.
27 禍なる哉汝等、僞善なる律法學士ファリザイ人等よ、其は白く塗りたる墓に似たればなり。外は人に麗しく見ゆれども、内は死人の骨と諸の汚とに充てり。
Wo unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye resemble tombs whitewashed, which outwardly indeed appear specious, but within are full of dead men’s bones, and all manner of impurity.
28 斯の如く、汝等も外は義人の如く人に見ゆれども、内は僞善と不義とに充てり。
And just so, ye without indeed appear to men righteous, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity.
29 禍なる哉汝等、僞善なる律法學士ファリザイ人等よ、汝等は預言者等の墓を建て、義人等の記念碑を飾りて、
Wo unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye build the tombs of the prophets, and adorn the sepulchres of the just,
30 曰く、「我等若先祖の時代に在りしならば、預言者等の血[を流す]に與せざりしものを」と。
and say, If we had been in the days of our fathers, we would not have been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets.
31 斯て汝等は、預言者等を殺しし人の子孫たる事を自證するなり。
Wherefore ye bear a testimony to yourselves, that ye are the children of those who killed the prophets.
32 然らば汝等も先祖の量を盈たせよ。
Fill ye up then the measure of your fathers.
Ye serpents, ye broods of vipers! how can ye escape from the damnation of hell? (Geenna g1067)
34 然れば看よ、我汝等に預言者、智者、律法學士等を遣はせども、汝等は其或者を殺し、十字架に釘け、或者を汝等の會堂に鞭ちて、街より街に遂迫めん。
Therefore, behold, I am sending to you prophets, and wise men, and scribes; and some of them ye shall kill, and crucify; and some of them ye shall scourge in your synagogues, and persecute from city to city:
35 斯て義人アベルの血より、汝等が[神]殿と祭壇との間にて殺ししパラキアの子ザカリアの血に至る迄、総て地上に流されたる義しき血は、汝等の上に歸すべし。
that upon you may come all the righteous blood which hath been poured out upon the earth, from the blood of the righteous Abel, to the blood of Zachariah, son of Barachiah, whom ye slew between the temple and the altar.
36 我誠に汝等に告ぐ、此事皆現代の上に歸すべし。
Verily I say unto you, All these things shall come on this generation.
37 エルザレムよ、エルザレムよ、預言者等を殺し、且汝に遣はされたる人々に石を擲つ者よ、我牝鶏の其雛を翼の下に集むる如く、汝の子等を集めんとせしこと幾度ぞや、然れど、汝之を否めり。
O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, that killest the prophets, and stonest those who were sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children to me, as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not?
38 看よ、汝等の家は荒廃れて汝等に遺されん。
Behold, your habitation is left unto you desolate.
39 我汝等に告ぐ、汝等「主の名によりて來る者は祝せられ給へ」と云ふ迄は、今より我を見ざるべし、[と語り給へり]。
For I tell you, Ye shall henceforth no more see me, until ye say, Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord.
