Romani 3
1 QUALE è dunque il vantaggio del Giudeo? o quale è l'utilità della circoncisione?
What is then the preferment of the Iewe? or what is the profite of circumcision?
2 Grande per ogni maniera; imprima invero, in ciò che gli oracoli di Dio furon loro fidati.
Much euery maner of way: for chiefly, because vnto them were of credite committed the oracles of God.
3 Perciocchè, che [è egli], se alcuni sono stati increduli? la loro incredulità annullerà essa la fedeltà di Dio?
For what, though some did not beleeue? shall their vnbeliefe make the faith of God without effect?
4 [Così] non sia; anzi, sia Iddio verace, ed ogni uomo bugiardo; siccome è scritto: Acciocchè tu sii giustificato nelle tue parole, e vinca quando sei giudicato.
God forbid: yea, let God be true, and euery man a lyar, as it is written, That thou mightest be iustified in thy words, and ouercome, when thou art iudged.
5 Ora, se la nostra ingiustizia commenda la giustizia di Dio, che diremo? Iddio è egli ingiusto, quando egli impone punizione? Io parlo umanamente.
Now if our vnrighteousnes comend the righteousnes of God, what shall we say? Is God vnrighteous which punisheth? (I speake as a man.)
6 [Così] non sia; altrimenti, come giudicherebbe Iddio il mondo?
God forbid: els how shall God iudge ye world?
7 Imperocchè, se la verità di Dio per la mia menzogna è soprabbondata alla sua gloria, perchè sono io ancor condannato come peccatore?
For if the veritie of God hath more abounded through my lye vnto his glorie, why am I yet condemned as a sinner?
8 E non [dirassi] (come siamo infamati, e come alcuni dicono che noi diciamo): Facciamo i mali, acciocchè ne avvengano i beni? (de' quali la condannazione è giusta).
And (as we are blamed, and as some affirme, that we say) why doe we not euil, that good may come thereof? whose damnation is iust.
9 CHE dunque? abbiamo noi qualche eccellenza? del tutto no; poichè innanzi abbiamo convinti tutti, così Giudei, come Greci, ch'essi sono sotto peccato;
What then? are we more excellent? No, in no wise: for we haue alreadie prooued, that all, both Iewes and Gentiles are vnder sinne,
10 siccome è scritto: Non v'è alcun giusto, non pure uno.
As it is written, There is none righteous, no not one.
11 Non v'è alcuno che abbia intendimento, non v'è alcuno che ricerchi Iddio.
There is none that vnderstandeth: there is none that seeketh God.
12 Tutti son deviati, tutti quanti son divenuti da nulla; non v'è alcuno che faccia bene, non pure uno.
They haue all gone out of the way: they haue bene made altogether vnprofitable: there is none that doeth good, no not one.
13 La lor gola è un sepolcro aperto; hanno usata frode con le lor lingue; [v'è] un veleno d'aspidi sotto alle lor labbra;
Their throte is an open sepulchre: they haue vsed their tongues to deceit: the poyson of aspes is vnder their lippes.
14 la lor bocca è piena di maledizione e d'amaritudine;
Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitternesse.
15 i lor piedi [son] veloci a spandere il sangue;
Their feete are swift to shead blood.
16 nelle lor vie [v'è] ruina e calamità;
Destruction and calamity are in their waies,
17 e non hanno conosciuta la via della pace;
And ye way of peace they haue not knowen.
18 il timor di Dio non è davanti agli occhi loro.
The feare of God is not before their eies.
19 Or noi sappiamo che, qualunque cosa dica la legge, parla a coloro che [son] nella legge, acciocchè ogni bocca sia turata, e tutto il mondo sia sottoposto al giudicio di Dio.
Now we know that whatsoeuer ye Lawe saieth, it saieth it to them which are vnder ye Law, that euery mouth may bee stopped, and all the world be subiect to the iudgement of God.
20 Perciocchè niuna carne sarà giustificata dinanzi a lui per le opere della legge; poichè per la legge [è data] conoscenza del peccato.
Therefore by the woorkes of the Lawe shall no flesh be iustified in his sight: for by the Lawe commeth the knowledge of sinne.
21 MA ora, senza la legge, la giustizia di Dio è manifestata, alla quale rendon testimonianza la legge ed i profeti;
But nowe is the righteousnesse, of God made manifest without the Lawe, hauing witnes of the Lawe and of the Prophets,
22 la giustizia, dico, di Dio, per la fede in Gesù Cristo, inverso tutti, e sopra tutti i credenti, perciocchè non v'è distinzione.
To wit, the righteousnesse of God by the faith of Iesus Christ, vnto all, and vpon all that beleeue.
23 Poichè tutti hanno peccato, e son privi della gloria di Dio.
For there is no difference: for all haue sinned, and are depriued of the glorie of God,
24 Essendo gratuitamente giustificati per la grazia d'esso, per la redenzione ch' [è] in Cristo Gesù.
And are iustified freely by his grace, through the redemption that is in Christ Iesus,
25 Il quale Iddio ha innanzi ordinato, [per] purgamento col suo sangue, mediante la fede; per mostrar la sua giustizia, per la remission de' peccati, che sono stati innanzi, nel [tempo del]la pazienza di Dio.
Whom God hath set forth to be a reconciliation through faith in his blood to declare his righteousnes, by the forgiuenesse of the sinnes that are passed,
26 Per mostrare, [dico], la sua giustizia nel tempo presente, acciocchè egli sia giusto e giustificante colui [che è] della fede di Gesù.
Through the patience of God, to shewe at this time his righteousnesse, that hee might be iust, and a iustifier of him which is of the faith of Iesus.
27 Dov'è adunque il vanto? Egli è escluso. Per qual legge? Delle opere? No; anzi, per la legge della fede.
Where is then the reioycing? It is excluded. By what Lawe? of woorkes? Nay: but by the Lawe of faith.
28 Noi adunque conchiudiamo che l'uomo è giustificato per fede senza le opere della legge.
Therefore we conclude, that a man is iustified by faith, without the workes of the Lawe.
29 Iddio [è egli Dio] solo de' Giudei? non [lo è egli] eziandio de' Gentili? certo, [egli lo è] eziandio de' Gentili.
God, is he the God of the Iewes onely, and not of the Gentiles also? Yes, euen of the Gentiles also.
30 Poichè [v'è] un solo Iddio, il quale giustificherà la circoncisione dalla fede, e l'incirconcisione per la fede.
For it is one God, who shall iustifie circumcision of faith, and vncircumcision through faith.
31 Annulliamo noi dunque la legge per la fede? [Così] non sia; anzi stabiliamo la legge.
Doe we then make the Lawe of none effect through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the Lawe.
