Isaia 23
1 URLATE, navi di Tarsis; perciocchè ella è guasta, per modo che non vi sarà più casa, e non vi si verrà più. Questo è apparito loro dal paese di Chittim.
The burden of Tyrus. Howle, yee shippes of Tarshish: for it is destroied, so that there is none house: none shall come from the lande of Chittim: it is reueiled vnto them.
2 Tacete, abitanti dell'isola. I mercatanti di Sidon, quelli che fanno viaggi in sul mare, ti riempievano.
Be still, yee that dwell in the yles: the marchantes of Zidon, and such as passe ouer the sea, haue replenished thee.
3 E la sua entrata [era] la sementa del Nilo; la ricolta del fiume, [portata] sopra grandi acque; ed ella era il mercato delle nazioni.
The seede of Nilus growing by the abundance of waters, and the haruest of the riuer was her reuenues, and she was a marte of the nations.
4 Sii confusa, Sidon; perciocchè il mare, la fortezza del mare, ha detto così: Io non partorisco, nè genero, nè cresco [più] giovani; [non] allevo [più] vergini.
Be ashamed, thou Zidon: for the sea hath spoken, euen the strength of the sea, saying, I haue not trauailed, nor brought forth children, neither nourished yong men, nor brought vp virgins.
5 Quando il grido [ne sarà pervenuto] agli Egizi, saranno addolorati, secondo ciò che udiranno di Tiro.
When the fame commeth to the Egyptians, they shall be sorie, concerning the rumour of Tyrus.
6 Passate in Tarsis, urlate, abitanti dell'isola.
Goe you ouer to Tarshish: howle, yee that dwell in the yles.
7 E questa la vostra [città] trionfante, la cui antichità [è] fin dal tempo antico? i suoi piedi la porteranno a dimorar come straniera in lontano [paese].
Is not this that your glorious citie? her antiquitie is of ancient daies: her owne feete shall leade her afarre off to be a soiourner.
8 Chi ha preso questo consiglio contro a Tiro, la coronata, i cui mercatanti [erano] principi, e i cui negozianti [erano] i più onorati della terra?
Who hath decreed this against Tyrus (that crowneth men) whose marchantes are princes? whose chapmen are the nobles of the worlde?
9 Il Signor degli eserciti ha preso questo consiglio, per abbatter vituperosamente l'alterezza di ogni nobiltà, per avvilire i più onorati della terra.
The Lord of hostes hath decreed this, to staine the pride of all glorie, and to bring to contempt all them that be glorious in the earth.
10 Passa fuori del tuo paese, come un rivo, o figliuola di Tarsis; non [vi è] più cintura.
Passe through thy lande like a flood to the daughter of Tarshish: there is no more strength.
11 Il Signore ha stesa la sua mano sopra il mare, egli ha fatti tremare i regni; egli ha dato comandamento contro a' Cananei, che si distruggano le fortezze di quella.
He stretched out his hand vpon the sea: he shooke the kingdomes: the Lord hath giuen a commandement concerning the place of marchandise, to destroy the power thereof.
12 Ed ha detto: Tu non continuerai più a trionfare, o vergine, figliuola di Sidon, che hai da essere oppressata; levati, passa in Chittim; ancora quivi non avrai riposo.
And he saide, Thou shalt no more reioyce when thou art oppressed: O virgin daughter of Zidon: rise vp, goe ouer vnto Chittim: yet there thou shalt haue no rest.
13 Ecco il paese de' Caldei; questo popolo non era [ancora, quando] Assur fondò quello per coloro che dimoravano ne' deserti; essi aveano rizzate le sue torri, aveano alzati i suoi palazzi; [e pure] egli è stato messo in ruina.
Behold the lande of the Caldeans: this was no people: Asshur founded it by the inhabitantes of the wildernesse: they set vp the towers thereof: they raised the palaces thereof and hee brought it to ruine.
14 Urlate, navi di Tarsis; perciocchè la vostra fortezza è stata guasta.
Howle yee shippes of Tarshish, for your strength is destroyed.
15 E in quel giorno avverrà che Tiro sarà dimenticata per settant'anni, secondo i giorni d'un re; [ma], in capo di settant'anni Tiro avrà [in bocca] come una canzone di meretrice.
And in that day shall Tyrus bee forgotten seuentie yeeres, (according to the yeeres of one King) at the ende of seuentie yeeres shall Tyrus sing as an harlot.
16 Prendi la cetera, va' attorno alla città, o meretrice dimenticata; suona pur bene, canta pur forte, acciocchè altri si ricordi di te.
Take an harpe and go about the citie: (thou harlot thou hast beene forgotten) make sweete melodie, sing moe songes that thou maiest be remembred.
17 E in capo di settant'anni, avverrà che il Signore visiterà Tiro, ed ella ritornerà al suo guadagno; e fornicherà, con tutti i regni del mondo, sopra la faccia della terra.
And at the ende of seuentie yeres shall the Lord visite Tyrus, and shee shall returne to her wages, and shall commit fornication with all the kingdomes of the earth, that are in the world.
18 Ma, [alla fine], il suo traffico, e il suo guadagno, [sarà] consacrato al Signore; egli non sarà riposto, nè serrato; anzi la sua mercatanzia sarà per quelli che abitano nel cospetto del Signore, per mangiare a sazietà, e per esser coperti di vestimenti durabili.
Yet her occupying and her wages shall bee holy vnto the Lord: it shall not be laied vp nor kept in store, but her marchandise shalbe for them that dwell before the Lord, to eate sufficiently, and to haue durable clothing.
