1 Timoteo 4
1 OR lo Spirito dice espressamente, che negli ultimi tempi alcuni apostateranno dalla fede, attendendo a spiriti seduttori, e a dottrine diaboliche;
Howbeit, the Spirit, expressly saith—that, in later seasons, some will revolt from the faith, giving heed unto seducing spirits, and unto teachings of demons—
2 d' [uomini] che proporranno cose false per ipocrisia, cauterizzati nella propria coscienza.
in hypocrisy, speaking falsehood, [of demons] cauterised in their own conscience, —
3 Che vieteranno il maritarsi, [e comanderanno] d'astenersi da' cibi, che Iddio ha creati, acciocchè i fedeli, e quelli che hanno conosciuta la verità, li usino con rendimento di grazie.
Forbidding to marry, [commanding] to abstain from foods which, God, created to be received with thanksgiving by them who believe and personally know the truth;
4 Poichè ogni cosa creata da Dio [è] buona, e niuna [è] da riprovare, essendo usata con rendimento di grazie;
Because, every creature of God, is good, and nothing to be cast away, if, with thanksgiving, it be received, —
5 perciocchè ella è santificata per la parola di Dio, e per l'orazione.
For it is hallowed by the word of God and intercession,
6 RAPPRESENTANDO queste cose a' fratelli, tu sarai buon ministro di Gesù Cristo, nudrito nelle parole della fede, e della buona dottrina, la qual tu hai ben compresa.
These things, submitting to the brethren, thou shall be, a noble, minister of Christ Jesus, nourishing thyself with the words of the faith, and of the noble teaching which thou hast closely studied.
7 Ma schiva le favole profane, e da vecchie; ed esercitati alla pietà.
But, from the profane and old-wives’ stories, excuse thyself, and be training thyself unto godliness;
8 Perciocchè l'esercizio corporale è utile a poca cosa; ma la pietà è utile ad ogni cosa, avendo la promessa della vita presente, e della futura.
For, the bodily training, for little, is profitable, whereas, godliness, for all things is profitable, —having, promise, of life—the present and the coming.
9 Certa [è] questa parola, a degna d'essere accettata per ogni maniera.
Faithful, the saying! and, of all acceptance, worthy;
10 Poichè per questo travagliamo, e siamo vituperati; perciocchè abbiamo sperato nell'Iddio vivente, il quale è Salvator di tutti gli uomini, principalmente de' fedeli.
For, to this end, are we toiling and contending, because we have set our hope on a Living God, Who is Saviour of all men—specially, of such as believe.
11 Annunzia queste cose, ed insegna[le].
Be giving these things in charge, and be teaching: —
12 Niuno sprezzi la tua giovanezza; ma sii esempio de' fedeli, in parola, in conversazione, in carità, in ispirito, in fede, in castità.
Let, no one, despise, thy youth, but, an ensample, become thou of the faithful, —in discourse, in behaviour, in love, in faith, in chastity.
13 Attendi alla lettura, all'esortazione, alla dottrina, finchè io venga.
While I am coming, be giving heed—to the reading, to the exhorting, to the teaching:
14 Non trascurare il dono che [è] in te, il quale ti è stato dato per profezia, con l'imposizion delle mani del collegio degli anziani.
Be not careless of the gift of favour, that is in thee, which was given thee through means of prophesying, along with a laying on of the hands of the eldership.
15 Medita queste cose, e datti interamente ad esse; acciocchè il tuo avanzamento sia manifesto fra tutti.
These things, be thy care, in these things, be thou, that, thine advancement, may be, manifest, unto all:
16 Attendi a te stesso, e alla dottrina; persevera in queste cose; perciocchè, facendo questo, salverai te stesso, e coloro che ti ascoltano.
Be giving heed to thyself, and to thy teaching, —abide still in them; for, this doing, both, thyself, shalt thou save, and them that hearken to thee.
