1 Timoteo 2
1 IO esorto adunque, innanzi ad ogni cosa, che si facciano preghiere, orazioni, richieste, [e] ringraziamenti per tutti gli uomini.
I exhort, therefore, first of all, that there be made—supplications, prayers, intercessions, thankgivings, in behalf of all men,
2 Pei re, e per tutti quelli che sono in dignità; acciocchè possiam menare una tranquilla e quieta vita, in ogni pietà ed onestà.
In behalf of kings, and all them who are, in eminent station; in order that, an undisturbed, and quiet life, we may lead, in all godliness and gravity:
3 Perciocchè quest'[è] buono ed accettevole nel cospetto di Dio, nostro Salvatore.
This, is comely and acceptable before our Saviour God,
4 Il quale vuole che tutti gli uomini sieno salvati, e che vengano alla conoscenza della verità.
Who willeth, all men, to be saved, and, unto a personal knowledge of truth, to come;
5 Perciocchè [v'è] un [sol] Dio, ed anche un [sol] Mediatore di Dio, e degli uomini: Cristo Gesù uomo.
For there is, one, God, one, mediator also, between God and men, —a man—Christ Jesus:
6 Il quale ha dato sè stesso per prezzo di riscatto per tutti; [secondo] la testimonianza [riserbata] a' propri tempi.
Who gave himself a ransom in behalf of all, —the testimony, in its own fit times:
7 A che io sono stato costituito banditore, ed apostolo (io dico verità in Cristo, non mento), dottor de' Gentili in fede, e verità.
Unto which, I, have been appointed proclaimer and apostle—Truth I speak, I utter no falsehood—a teacher of nations, in faith and truth.
8 Io voglio adunque che gli uomini facciano orazione in ogni luogo, alzando le mani pure, senza ira e disputazione.
I am minded, therefore, that—the men in every place be offering prayer, uplifting hands of lovingkindness, apart from anger and disputings;
9 SIMIGLIANTEMENTE ancora che le donne si adornino d'abito onesto, con verecondia e modestia; non di trecce, o d' oro, o di perle, o di vestimenti preziosi;
In the same way, that, the women, in seemly attire, with modesty and sober-mindedness, be adorning themselves, —not with plaitings and ornamentation of gold, or with pearls, or with costly apparel, —
10 ma come si conviene a donne che fanno professione di servire a Dio per opere buone.
But, which becometh women promising godliness, through means of good works.
11 La donna impari con silenzio, in ogni soggezione.
Let, a woman, in quietness, be learning in all submission;
12 Ma io non permetto alla donna d'insegnare, nè d'usare autorità sopra il marito; ma [ordino] che stia in silenzio.
But, teaching—unto a woman, I do not permit, nor yet to have authority over a man, —but to be in quietness;
13 Perciocchè Adamo fu creato il primo, e poi Eva.
For, Adam, first was formed, then Eve,
14 E Adamo non fu sedotto; ma la donna, essendo stata sedotta, fu in [cagion di] trasgressione.
And, Adam, was not deceived, whereas, the woman, having been wholly deceived, hath come to be, in transgression;
15 Ma pure sarà salvata, partorendo figliuoli, se saranno perseverate in fede, e carità, e santificazione, con onestà.
She shall be saved, however, through means of the child-bearing, —if they abide in faith, and love, and holiness, with sobermindedness. Faithful, the saying.
