Sprueche 18
1 Nach dem, was ihn gelüstet, strebt, wer sich absondert; wider alles Vernünftige lehnt er sich auf.
Desire he seeks [one who] separates himself on all sound wisdom he bursts out.
2 Ein Thor hat kein Gefallen an Einsicht, sondern daran, daß sein Denken offenbar werde.
Not he delights a fool in understanding that except in revealing itself heart his.
3 Wo der Gottlose hinkommt, da kommt auch Verachtung, und mit der Schande Schmach.
When comes a wicked [person] it comes also contempt and with shame reproach.
4 Tiefe Wasser sind die Worte von eines Mannes Mund, ein sprudelnder Bach, eine Quelle der Weisheit.
[are] waters Deep [the] words of [the] mouth of a person a wadi flowing a fountain of wisdom.
5 Daß man für den Gottlosen Partei nimmt, ist ein übles Ding, - daß man den, der Recht hat, im Gericht hinwegstößt.
To lift up [the] face of a wicked [person] not [is] good to turn aside a righteous [person] in judgment.
6 Die Lippen des Thoren führen Streit herbei, und sein Mund ruft nach Schlägen.
[the] lips of A fool they go in strife and mouth his for blows it calls.
7 Der Mund des Thoren führt seinen Sturz herbei, und seine Lippen sind ein Fallstrick für sein Leben.
[the] mouth of A fool [is] ruin of him and lips his [are] [the] snare of life his.
8 Die Worte des Ohrenbläsers sind wie Leckerbissen, und die dringen hinab in des Leibes Kammern.
[the] words of A slanderer [are] like delicacies and they they go down [the] chambers of [the] belly.
9 Schon wer sich bei seinem Geschäfte lässig zeigt, ist ein Bruder dessen, der zu Grunde richtet.
Also [one who] shows himself idle in work his [is] a brother he of a master of destruction.
10 Ein fester Turm ist der Name Jahwes; dahin läuft der Fromme und findet sich gesichert.
[is] a tower of Strength [the] name of Yahweh in it he runs a righteous [person] and he is set on high.
11 Des Reichen Habe ist ihm eine feste Stadt und bedünkt ihn eine hohe Mauer.
[the] wealth of A rich [person] [is] [the] town of strength his and like a wall high in own imagination his.
12 Dem Sturz eines Mannes geht Überhebung des Herzens voran, aber der Ehre geht Demut voran.
Before destruction it is haughty [the] heart of a person and [is] before honor humility.
13 Giebt einer Antwort, ehe er noch hörte, so wird ihm das als Narrheit und als Schande gerechnet.
[one who] brings back A word before he listens [is] folly it of him and ignominy.
14 Des Mannes Mut hält sein Leiden aus, aber ein niedergeschlagenes Gemüt, wer kann das tragen?
[the] spirit of A person it will endure sickness his and a spirit stricken who? will he bear it.
15 Des Verständigen Herz erwirbt sich Erkenntnis, und der Weisen Ohr strebt nach Erkenntnis.
A heart discerning it acquires knowledge and [the] ear of wise [people] it seeks knowledge.
16 Das Geschenk, das einer giebt, macht ihm Raum und geleitet ihn vor die Großen.
[the] gift of A person it makes space for him and before great [people] it leads him.
17 Recht hat der erste in seiner Streitsache; aber es kommt der andere und forscht ihn aus.
[is] righteous The first in case his (and he will come *QK) neighbor his and he will examine him.
18 Streitigkeiten macht das Los ein Ende und bringt Starke auseinander.
Contentions it puts an end to the lot and between mighty [people] it separates.
19 Ein Bruder, gegen den treulos gehandelt ward, leistet mehr Widerstand als eine feste Stadt, und solcher Streit hält hart wie eines Palastes Riegel.
A brother transgressed [is] more than a town of strength (and contentions *QK) [are] like [the] bar of a fortress.
20 Von der Frucht seines Mundes sättigt sich eines Mannes Leib; mit dem Ertrage seiner Lippen wird er gesättigt.
From [the] fruit of [the] mouth of a person it is satisfied belly his [the] produce of lips his he is satisfied.
21 Tod und Leben steht in der Zunge Gewalt, und wer sie im Zaume hält, wird ihre Frucht genießen.
Death and life [are] in [the] hand of [the] tongue and [those who] love it he will eat fruit its.
22 Wer eine Ehefrau gefunden, hat etwas Köstliches gefunden und Wohlgefallen von Jahwe erlangt.
He finds a wife he finds a good thing and he obtained pleasure from Yahweh.
23 Flehentlich redet der Arme, aber der Reiche antwortet mit Härte.
Supplications he speaks a poor [person] and a rich [person] he answers strong [words].
24 Viel Umgang bringt leicht Untergang; doch giebt's auch Freunde, anhänglicher als ein Bruder.
A person of companions [is] to be broken and there [is one who] loves cleaving more than a brother.
