Luc 5
1 Or, un jour que pressé par la foule qui voulait entendre la parole de Dieu, il se tenait sur le bord du lac de Génésareth,
On one occasion the crowd was pressing on Him and listening to God's Message, while He was standing by the Lake of Gennesaret.
2 il vit deux barques qui stationnaient près du rivage; les pêcheurs étaient descendus pour laver leurs filets.
He, however, saw two fishing-boats drawn up on the beach (for the men had gone away from them and were washing the nets),
3 Il monta donc dans une de ces barques, qui était à Simon, et le pria de s'éloigner un peu de terre; puis, s'étant assis, il enseigna le peuple de dessus la barque.
and going on board one of them, which was Simon's He asked him to push out a little from land. Then He sat down and taught the crowd of people from the boat.
4 Lorsqu'il eut cessé de parler, il dit à Simon: " Avance en pleine mer, et vous jetterez vos filets pour pêcher. "
When He had finished speaking, He said to Simon, "Push out into deep water, and let down your nets for a haul."
5 Simon lui répondit: " Maître, toute la nuit nous avons travaillé sans rien prendre; mais, sur votre parole, je jetterai le filet. "
"Rabbi," replied Peter, "all night long we have worked hard and caught nothing; but at your command I will let down the nets."
6 L'ayant jeté, ils prirent une si grande quantité de poissons, que leur filet se rompait.
This they did, and enclosed a vast number of fish; and their nets began to break.
7 Et ils firent signe à leurs compagnons, qui étaient dans l'autre barque, de venir à leur aide. Ils y vinrent, et ils remplirent les deux barques, au point qu'elles enfonçaient.
So they signalled to their partners in the other boat to come and help them; they came, and they filled both the boats so that they almost sank.
8 Ce que voyant Simon Pierre, il tomba aux pieds de Jésus en disant: " Eloignez-vous de moi, Seigneur, parce que je suis un pécheur. "
When Simon Peter saw this, he fell down at the knees of Jesus, and exclaimed, "Master, leave my boat, for I am a sinful man."
9 Car l'effroi l'avait saisi, lui et tous ceux qui l'accompagnaient, à cause de la capture de poissons qu'ils avaient faite;
(For he was astonished and terrified--he and all his companions--at the haul of fish which they had taken;
10 il en était de même de Jacques et de Jean, fils de Zébédée, les associés de Simon. Et Jésus dit à Simon: " Ne crains point, car désormais ce sont des hommes que tu prendras. "
and so were Simon's partners James and John, the sons of Zabdi.) But Jesus replied to Simon, "Fear not: from this time you shall be a catcher of men."
11 Aussitôt, ramenant leurs barques à terre, ils quittèrent tout et le suivirent.
Then, after bringing their boats to land, they left everything and followed Him.
12 Comme il était dans une ville, voici qu'un homme tout couvert de lèpre, apercevant Jésus, se prosterna la face contre terre, et le pria en disant: " Seigneur, si vous le voulez, vous pouvez me guérir. "
On another occasion, when He was in one of the towns, there was a man there covered with leprosy, who, seeing Jesus, threw himself at His feet and implored Him, saying, "Sir, if only you are willing, you are able to make me clean."
13 Jésus, étendant la main, le toucha et lui dit: " Je le veux, sois guéri "; et à l'instant sa lèpre disparut.
Reaching out His hand and touching him, Jesus said, "I am willing; be cleansed!" And instantly the leprosy left him.
14 Et il lui défendit d'en parler à personne; mais: " Va, dit-il, te montrer au prêtre, et offre pour ta guérison ce qu'a prescrit Moïse, pour l'attester au peuple. "
He ordered him to tell no one. "But go," He said, "show yourself to the Priest, and make the offering for your purification which Moses appointed, as evidence for them."
15 Sa renommée se répandait de plus en plus, et l'on venait par troupes nombreuses pour l'entendre et pour être guéri de ses maladies.
But all the more the report about Him spread abroad, and great multitudes crowded to hear Him and to be cured of their diseases;
16 Pour lui, il se retirait dans les déserts et priait.
but Jesus Himself constantly withdrew into the Desert and there prayed.
17 Un jour qu'il enseignait, il y avait là, assis autour de lui, des Pharisiens et des docteurs de la Loi, venus de tous les villages de la Galilée, ainsi que de la Judée et de Jérusalem, et la puissance du Seigneur se manifestait par des guérisons.
One day He was teaching, and there were Pharisees and teachers of the Law sitting there who had come from every village in Galilee and Judaea and from Jerusalem. And the power of the Lord was present for Him to cure people.
18 Et voilà que des gens, portant sur un lit un homme paralysé, cherchaient à le faire entrer et à le mettre devant lui.
And a party of men came carrying a palsied man on a bed, and they endeavoured to bring him in and lay him before Jesus.
19 Et n'en trouvant pas le moyen à cause de la foule, ils montèrent sur le toit et, à travers les tuiles, descendirent le malade avec sa couchette au milieu de tous, devant Jésus.
But when they could find no way of doing so because of the crowd, they went up on the roof and let him down through the tiling--bed and all--into the midst, in front of Jesus.
20 Voyant leur foi, il dit: " Homme, tes péchés te sont remis. "
He saw their faith and said to him, "Friend, your sins are forgiven."
21 Alors les Scribes et les Pharisiens se mirent à raisonner et à dire: " Qui est celui-ci qui profère des blasphèmes? Qui peut remettre les péchés, si ce n'est Dieu seul? "
Then the Scribes and Pharisees began to cavil, asking, "Who is this, uttering blasphemies? Who but God alone can forgive sins?"
22 Jésus, connaissant leurs pensées, prit la parole et leur dit: " Quelles pensées avez-vous en vos cœurs?
Well aware of their reasonings, Jesus answered their questions by asking in turn, "What is this that you are debating in your hearts?
23 Lequel est le plus facile de dire: Tes péchés te sont remis, ou de dire: Lève-toi et marche?
Which is easier? --to say, 'Your sins are forgiven,' or to say, 'Rise and walk'?
24 Or, afin que vous sachiez que le Fils de l'homme a sur la terre le pouvoir de remettre les péchés: Je te le commande, dit-il au paralytique, lève-toi, prends ta couchette et va dans ta maison. "
But to prove to you that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins" --Turning to the paralytic He said, "I bid you, Rise, take up your bed, and go home."
25 A l'instant, celui-ci se leva devant eux, prit le lit sur lequel il était couché, et s'en alla dans sa maison en glorifiant Dieu.
Instantly he stood up in their presence, took up the mattress on which he had been lying, and went away to his home, giving glory to God.
26 Et tous étaient frappés de stupeur; ils glorifiaient Dieu, et, remplis de crainte, ils disaient: " Nous avons vu aujourd'hui des choses merveilleuses. "
Amazement seized them all. "Glory to God!" was the abiding feeling. Yet fear flashed through their minds and they said, "We have seen strange things to-day."
27 Après cela, Jésus sortit, et ayant vu un publicain nommé Lévi, assis au bureau du péage, il lui dit: " Suis-moi. "
After this He went out and noticed a tax-gatherer, Levi by name, sitting at the Toll office; and He said to him, "Follow me."
28 Et lui, quittant tout, se leva et le suivit.
He rose, left everything, and followed Him.
29 Lévi lui donna un grand festin dans sa maison; et une foule nombreuse de publicains et d'autres personnes étaient à table avec eux.
Levi also gave a great entertainment at his house in honour of Jesus, and there was a large party of tax-gatherers and others at table with them.
30 Les Pharisiens et leurs Scribes murmuraient et disaient à ses disciples: " Pourquoi mangez-vous et buvez-vous avec les publicains et les pécheurs? "
This led the Pharisees and Scribes of their party to expostulate with His disciples and ask, "Why are you eating and drinking with these tax-gatherers and notorious sinners?"
31 Jésus leur répondit: " Ce ne sont pas les bien portants qui ont besoin de médecin, mais les malades.
But Jesus replied to them, "It is not men in good health who require a physician, but the sick.
32 Je ne suis pas venu appeler les justes à la pénitence, mais les pécheurs. "
I have not come to call the righteous to repentance, but sinners."
33 Alors ils lui dirent: " Pourquoi, tandis que les disciples de Jean et ceux des Pharisiens jeûnent et prient souvent, les vôtres mangent-ils et boivent-ils? "
Again they said to Him, "John's disciples fast often and pray, as do also those of the pharisees; but yours eat and drink."
34 Il leur répondit: " Pouvez-vous faire jeûner les amis de l'Epoux, pendant que l'Epoux est avec eux?
"Can you compel the bridal party to fast," replied Jesus, "so long as they have the bridegroom among them?
35 Viendront des jours où l'Epoux leur sera enlevé: ils jeûneront ces jours-là. "
But a time for this will come, when the Bridegroom has been taken away from them: then, at that time, they will fast."
36 Il leur proposa encore cette comparaison: " Personne ne met à un vieux vêtement un morceau pris à un vêtement neuf: autrement on déchire le neuf, et le morceau du neuf convient mal au vêtement vieux.
He also spoke in figurative language to them. "No one," He said, "tears a piece from a new garment to mend an old one. Otherwise he would not only spoil the new, but the patch from the new would not match the old.
37 Personne non plus ne met du vin nouveau dans de vieilles outres: autrement, le vin nouveau rompant les outres, il se répandra, et les outres seront perdues.
Nor does any one pour new wine into old wine-skins. Otherwise the new wine would burst the skins, the wine itself would be spilt, and the skins be destroyed.
38 Mais il faut mettre le vin nouveau dans des outres neuves, et tous les deux se conservent.
But new wine must be put into fresh wineskins.
39 Et personne après avoir bu du vieux vin, ne veut aussitôt du nouveau; car on dit: Le vieux vin est meilleur. "
Nor does any one after drinking old wine wish for new; for he says, 'The old is better.'"
