< Job 34 >

1 Moreover Elihu answered,
Elihu mah,
2 “Hear my words, you wise men. Give ear to me, you who have knowledge.
nangcae palungha kaminawk, ka lok hae tahngai oh; panoekhaih tawn kaminawk, naa patueng oh.
3 For the ear tries words, as the palate tastes food.
Pakha mah caaknaek pataengh baktih toengah, naa mah ni lok to khingh.
4 Let us choose for us that which is right. Let us know amongst ourselves what is good.
Toenghaih to qoi o si; aimacae han kahoih hmuen to panoek o si.
5 For Job has said, ‘I am righteous, God has taken away my right.
Job mah, Kai loe ka toeng, ka toenghaih Sithaw mah ang lak pae ving boeh.
6 Notwithstanding my right I am considered a liar. My wound is incurable, though I am without disobedience.’
Kai loe ka toeng, toe amsawnlok thui kami ah ka oh, sakpazaehaih ka tawn ai, toe kahoih thai ai nathaih hoiah ka oh, tiah thuih.
7 What man is like Job, who drinks scorn like water,
Job hoi anghmong kami mi maw kaom, kasaethuihaih to tui baktih kanae mi maw kaom?
8 who goes in company with the workers of iniquity, and walks with wicked men?
Anih loe kahoih ai hmuen sah kaminawk hoiah amyok moe, kasae kaminawk hoiah angkom.
9 For he has said, ‘It profits a man nothing that he should delight himself with God.’
Sithaw nuiah anghoehaih mah kami han amekhaih tidoeh paek ai, tiah Job mah thuih.
10 “Therefore listen to me, you men of understanding: far be it from God, that he should do wickedness, from the Almighty, that he should commit iniquity.
To pongah panoekhaih tawn kaminawk, ka lok hae tahngai oh; Sithaw loe hmuen kasae sah mak ai, Thacak Angraeng loe hmuen sakpazaehaih roe tawn mak ai.
11 For the work of a man he will render to him, and cause every man to find according to his ways.
Kami mah sak ih hmuen baktih toengah Sithaw mah pathok, angmah ih tuinuen baktih toengah, a nuiah phaksak.
12 Yes surely, God will not do wickedly, neither will the Almighty pervert justice.
Ue, Sithaw loe natuek naa ah doeh kasae hmuen to sah mak ai; Thacak Angraeng loe toenghaih to paqoi ving mak ai.
13 Who put him in charge of the earth? Or who has appointed him over the whole world?
Mi mah maw anih to long khenzawnkung hoi long boih ukkung ah suek?
14 If he set his heart on himself, if he gathered to himself his spirit and his breath,
Kami nuiah Sithaw palungphui moe, angmah ih Muithla hoi a hinghaih takhi to la ving nahaeloe,
15 all flesh would perish together, and man would turn again to dust.
kaminawk loe nawnto anghma o boih tih, kami loe maiphu ah amlaem let tih.
16 “If now you have understanding, hear this. Listen to the voice of my words.
Vaihi panoekhaih na tawnh nahaeloe, khopoek ah; ka thuih ih lok hae tahngai ah.
17 Should even one who hates justice govern? Will you condemn him who is righteous and mighty,
Toenghaih hnuma kami mah uk thai tih maw? Thacak toenghaih hoi lokcaekkung to kasae thui thai tih maw?
18 who says to a king, ‘Vile!’ or to nobles, ‘Wicked!’?
Siangpahrang khaeah, Nang loe tidoeh avang ai, angraengnawk khaeah, Nangcae loe kahoih ai kami ni, tiah thui thai tih maw?
19 He doesn’t respect the persons of princes, nor respect the rich more than the poor, for they all are the work of his hands.
Toe anih loe angraengnawk ih mikhmai to khen ai, amtang kaminawk pongah loe angraeng kaminawk ni mikhmai paek kue, tiah om ai; nihcae loe Sithaw mah ni sak boih.
20 In a moment they die, even at midnight. The people are shaken and pass away. The mighty are taken away without a hand.
Nihcae loe nawnetta ah duek o; kaminawk loe qum taning ah tasoeh o moe, laemh o boih; thacak kaminawk doeh kami ih ban hoi na ai ah laemh o boih.
21 “For his eyes are on the ways of a man. He sees all his goings.
Sithaw mah loe kami caehhaih loklam to khet moe, a khok tangkannawk doeh hnuk boih.
22 There is no darkness, nor thick gloom, where the workers of iniquity may hide themselves.
Zaehaih sah kaminawk anghawk ving thaihaih khoving hoi duekhaih tahlip to om ai.
23 For he doesn’t need to consider a man further, that he should go before God in judgement.
Lokcaek hanah kami mah Sithaw hmaa ah caeh naah, anih mah kami lokcaekhaih ani to khaeh han angai ai.
24 He breaks mighty men in pieces in ways past finding out, and sets others in their place.
Lokduenghaih om ai ah thacak kaminawk to a vah phaeng moe, nihcae zuengah kalah kaminawk to a suek.
25 Therefore he takes knowledge of their works. He overturns them in the night, so that they are destroyed.
Nihcae mah sak ih hmuennawk to anih mah panoek boih pongah, khovingsak moe, amrosak boih.
26 He strikes them as wicked men in the open sight of others;
Nihcae loe angmacae sethaih baktih toengah minawk hmaa ah danpaek,
27 because they turned away from following him, and wouldn’t pay attention to any of his ways,
nihcae loe Sithaw to caeh o taak moe, anih ih loklamnawk to tiah doeh poek o ai;
28 so that they caused the cry of the poor to come to him. He heard the cry of the afflicted.
to tiah sak o pongah amtang kaminawk qahhaih lok to Angraeng hmaa ah phak moe, pacaekthlaek kaminawk hanghaih lok to anih mah thaih.
29 When he gives quietness, who then can condemn? When he hides his face, who then can see him? He is over a nation or a man alike,
Toe Sithaw mah anghngai taak duem nahaeloe, mi mah maw raihaih paek thai tih, a mikhmai hawk ving nahaeloe, mi kawbaktih kami hoi prae kaminawk mah maw, anih to hnu thai tih?
30 that the godless man may not reign, that there be no one to ensnare the people.
To tiah kaminawk thaang pongah amansak han ai ah, Sithaw panoek ai kaminawk to danpaek.
31 “For has any said to God, ‘I am guilty, but I will not offend any more.
Kami maeto mah Sithaw khaeah, Kai loe thuitaekhaih ka tongh boeh pongah, ka zae let mak ai boeh;
32 Teach me that which I don’t see. If I have done iniquity, I will do it no more’?
ka hnu ai ih hmuen to na patuk ah; zaekhaih ka sakpazae boeh nahaeloe, zaehaih ka sah let mak ai boeh, tiah thuih han om ai maw.
33 Shall his recompense be as you desire, that you refuse it? For you must choose, and not I. Therefore speak what you know.
To hmuen loe na poekhaih baktiah maw om tih? Kai na ai ni, na pahnawt cadoeh, na qoih cadoeh, Sithaw mah pathok let tih, to pongah na panoek ih baktiah thui ah.
34 Men of understanding will tell me, yes, every wise man who hears me:
Panoekhaih tawn kaminawk mah kai han na thui o nasoe loe, palungha kaminawk mah ka lok hae tahngai o nasoe.
35 ‘Job speaks without knowledge. His words are without wisdom.’
Job loe panoekhaih tawn ai ah lok to thuih; a thuih ih loknawk loe palunghahaih om ai.
36 I wish that Job were tried to the end, because of his answering like wicked men.
Job loe panoekhaih tawn ai kaminawk baktiah lokthuih pongah, anih to boeng khoek to tanoek han ka koeh.
37 For he adds rebellion to his sin. He claps his hands amongst us, and multiplies his words against God.”
Zaehaih sak khue na ai ah lokaekhaih doeh oh, aicae salakah ban to tabaeng moe, pop parai Sithaw kasae thuihaih lok to a thuih, tiah a naa.
