Job 11
1 Then answered Zophar the Naamathite, and said,
Felelt a Náamabeli Czófár és mondta:
2 Should not the multitude of words be answered? and should a man full of talk be justified?
Szavak bőségére ne legyen felelet, avagy az ajkak emberének legyen igaza?
3 Should thy lies make men hold their peace? and when thou mockest, shall no man make thee ashamed?
Fecsegésed férfiakat hallgattasson el? Gúnyolódtál s ne legyen, ki rád pirít?
4 For thou hast said, My doctrine is pure, and I am clean in thy eyes.
Azt mondod: Tiszta a tanom, szeplőtlen vagyok szemeid előtt!
5 But O that God would speak, and open his lips against thee;
Azonban vajha beszélne az Isten s nyitná fel ajkait veled szemben,
6 And that he would show thee the secrets of wisdom, that they are double to that which is! Know therefore that God exacteth of thee less than thy iniquity deserveth.
hogy jelentse meg neked a bölcsesség rejtelmeit mert kétszereset ér valódi tudásra nézve – s tudd meg, hogy elenged neked Isten a bűnödből.
7 Canst thou by searching find out God? canst thou find out the Almighty to perfection?
Istent kikutatni eléred-e, avagy a Mindenhatónak végéig elérsz-e?
8 It is as high as heaven; what canst thou do? deeper than hell; what canst thou know? (Sheol h7585)
Egek magasságai – mit tehetsz? Mélyebb az alvilágnál mit tudhatsz meg? (Sheol h7585)
9 The measure of it is longer than the earth, and broader than the sea.
Hosszabb a földnél mérete és szélesebb a tengernél.
10 If he shall cut off, and shut up, or gather together, then who can hinder him?
Ha elvonul és bezár és gyűlést tart – ki utasíthatja vissza?
11 For he knoweth vain men: he seeth wickedness also; will he not then consider it?
Mert ő ismeri a hamisság embereit, látta a jogtalanságot, pedig nem is ügyel.
12 For vain man would be wise, though man is born like a wild donkey’s colt.
Hisz üres férfi is eszessé válik, s vadszamár vemhe emberré szülemedik.
13 If thou preparest thy heart, and stretchest out thy hands toward him;
Ha te irányítod szívedet s feléje terjeszted kezeidet –
14 If iniquity is in thy hand, put it far away, and let not wickedness dwell in thy tents.
ha igaztalanság van kezedben távolítsd el, s ne lakoztass sátraidban jogtalanságot –
15 For then shalt thou lift up thy face without spot; yea, thou shalt be steadfast, and shalt not fear:
bizony akkor felemelheted arczodat mocsoktalanul és szilárd leszel s nem kell félned;
16 Because thou shalt forget thy misery, and remember it as waters that pass away:
bizony te elfelejted a szenvedést, mint elfolyt vizekre emlékszel reá.
17 And thy age shall be clearer than the noonday; thou shalt shine forth, thou shalt be as the morning.
S délnél fényesebben kél a földi lét, ha borulat van, olyan az mint a reggel.
18 And thou shalt be secure, because there is hope; yea, thou shalt dig about thee, and thou shalt take thy rest in safety.
És bízhatsz, mert van remény; körülfigyelsz – bizton fekszel le;
19 Also thou shalt lie down, and none shall make thee afraid; yea, many shall make suit to thee.
heversz; és nincs a ki fölijesztene és sokan fognak neked hízelegni.
20 But the eyes of the wicked shall fail, and they shall not escape, and their hope shall be as the giving up of the ghost.
De a gonoszok szemei elepednek, menekvés elveszett számukra, reményük pedig: léleknek kilehelése.
