Isaiah 65

1 I have let myself be consulted by them who had not asked, I have suffered myself to be found by them who had not sought me, —I have said, Here I am! Here I am! Unto a nation that had not been called by my name,

Eg baud meg fram der ingen spurde, eg var å finna der ingen søkte meg; eg sagde: «Her er eg, her er eg!» Til eit folk som ei bar mitt namn.

2 I have spread out my hands all the day, Unto a rebellious people, —Who walk In the way that is not good, After their own devices.

Eg rette all dagen ut mine hender til eit tråssugt folk, som fer den vonde vegen etter sine eigne tankar,

3 The people who are provoking me to anger to my face continually, —Sacrificing in gardens, and Burning incense upon bricks;

til eit folk som sårar meg alltid midt i syni, som ofrar i hagarne, kveikjer offereld på tiglstein,

4 Who tarry among graves, And in the secret places, do lodge, Who eat the flesh of swine, And the broth of refuse things is in their vessels, —

som set seg ned i graver, og nattar i løyndarhol, som et svinekjøt, hev ufyseleg mat i skålerne sine,

5 Who say—Draw near by thyself, Do not approach with me, For I am holier than thou! These, are A smoke in my nostrils, A fire, burning all the day.

som segjer: «Haldt deg undan! Ikkje rør meg, for eg er heilag for deg!» Dei folk er som røyk i nasen min, ein eld som logar all dagen.

6 Lo! it is written before me, —I will not keep silence, But I have recompensed, and will recompense into their bosom:

Sjå, det stend skrive for augo mine: Eg vil ikkje tegja fyrr eg gjev att, ja gjev deim att i fanget,

7 Your own iniquities, And the, iniquities of your fathers together, Saith Yahweh, Who have burned incense upon the mountains, And upon the hills, have reproached me, —Therefore will I measure their former work into their bosom.

både for dykkar eigne brot, segjer Herren, og broti åt federne dykkar, at dei offereld kveikte på bergi og svivyrde meg på haugarne; fyrst vil eg mæla upp løni deira og gjeva deim upp i fanget.

8 Thus, saith Yahweh—As, new wine, is found, in the cluster, And one saith, Do not destroy it, for a blessing is in it, So, will I do for the sake of my servants, That I may not destroy the whole [nation];

So segjer Herren: Liksom dei segjer når det finst saft i druva: «Skamfar ho ikkje, for det er signing i henne!» So gjer eg for mine tenarar skuld, eg skal ikkje tyna alle saman.

9 Therefore will I bring forth Out of Jacob, a seed, and Out of Judah, an inheritor of my mountains, That my chosen ones may inherit it, And, my servants, dwell there;

Men let avkjøme koma frå Jakob, frå Juda ein erving til fjelli mine, mine utvalde skal erva landet, og der skal mine tenarar bu.

10 Then shall, Sharon, become, a fold for flocks, And the vale of Achor for the lying down of herds, —For my people who have sought me.

Og Saron skal verta til saue-beite og Akorsdalen til læger for fe, til gagn for mitt folk som søkjer meg.

11 But, ye are they—Who forsake Yahweh Who forget my holy mountain—Who prepare, for Fortune, a table and Who fill for Destiny, mixed wine;

Men de som gjeng burt ifrå Herren, de som gløymer mitt heilage fjell, de som dukar bord for Gad og blandar drykk for Meni,

12 Therefore will I destine you to the sword, And, ye all, to the slaughter, shall bow down. Because I called and ye answered not, I spake, and ye hearkened not, —But did that which was wicked in mine eyes, And of that wherein I delighted not, ye made choice,

dykkar lagnad skal vera sverdet, de skal alle dykk bøygja til slagting, for de svara ei då eg ropa, og høyrde ei då eg tala, men gjorde det vonde i mine augo, og valde det som eg ikkje lika.

13 Therefore, Thus, saith My Lord, Yahweh, —Lo! my servants, shall eat but, ye, shall be famished, Lo! my servants, shall drink but, ye shall be thirsty, —Lo! my servants, shall rejoice but ye, shall turn pale;

Difor segjer Herren, Herren so: Sjå, tenaran’ mine skal eta, men de skal svelta; sjå, tenaran’ mine skal drikka, men de skal tyrsta; sjå, tenaran’ mine skal fegnast, men de skal skjemmast;

14 Lo! my servants, shall shout in triumph for mirth of heart But, ye, shall make outcry, for pain of heart, And for a breaking of spirit, shall ye howl.

sjå, tenaran’ mine skal jubla av hjartans lyst, men de skal skrika av hjarteverk, og hugbrotne skal de hyla.

15 So shall ye leave your name for an oath, to my chosen ones, —So then My Lord Yahweh, will slay thee, —And his servants, will he, call by another name:

Dykkar namn skal de lata etter til ein eid for mine utvalde. «So drepe deg Herren, Herren!» Men tenaran sine skal han gjeva eit anna namn.

16 So that he who blesseth himself in the earth, Will bless himself in the God of faithfulness, And he who sweareth in the earth Will swear by the God of faithfulness—Because the former troubles have been forgotten, and Because they are hid from mine eyes.

Den som signar seg i landet, skal signa seg med truskaps Gud, og den som sver i landet, skal sverja ved truskaps Gud, for dei fyrre trengslor er gløymde og løynde for augo mine.

17 For, behold me! Creating new heavens, and a new earth, —And the former shall not be mentioned, neither shall they come up on the heart,

For sjå, eg skaper ein ny himmel og ei ny jord, det gamle skal ikkje hugsast meir og ikkje renna nokon i hugen.

18 But joy ye and exult, perpetually, in what I am about to create, —For, behold me! Creating Jerusalem an exultation and Her People a joy;

Nei, fegnast og frygdast til æveleg tid for det som eg skaper! For Jerusalem skaper eg um til frygd og folket til fagnad.

19 Therefore will I Exult in Jerusalem, and Joy in my People, —And there shall be heard in her, no more The sound of weeping, or the sound of a cry:

Og eg vil frygda meg yver Jerusalem og fegnast yver mitt folk, ingen gråt skal meir høyrast der eller klagerop.

20 There shall be thenceforward, no more, A suckling of a few days, or an elder Who filleth not up his days, —But, a youth a hundred years old, may die, Yea a sinner a hundred years old, shall be accursed,

Det skal ikkje lenger finnast der eit barn som berre liver nokre dagar, eller ein gamall mann som ikkje fyller dagetalet sitt. Nei, den som døyr ung, skal døy hundrad år gamall, og den som ikkje når hundrad år, skal gjelda for å vera forbanna.

21 Then shall they build houses and dwell in them, —And plant vineyards and eat the fruit of them;

Dei husi dei byggjar, skal dei sjølv få bu i, og dei vinhagarne dei plantar, skal dei sjølv eta frukti av.

22 They shall not build, and another, dwell, They shall not plant, and, another, eat, —For as the days of a tree, shall be the days of my people, And, the work of their own hands, shall my chosen ones, use to the full:

Ikkje skal dei byggja og ein annan bu, ikkje skal dei planta og ein annan eta; for folket mitt skal nå same alder som treet, og mine utvalde skal få njota det dei sjølv hev verka med sine eigne hender.

23 They shall not labour in vain, Nor have children for terror, —For the seed of the blessed ones of Yahweh, shall they be, And their offspring, with them.

Dei skal ikkje stræva til fåfengs og ikkje få born som brått skal døy; for dei er Herrens velsigna ætt, og sitt avkjøme hev dei hjå seg.

24 And it shall come to pass—That before they call, I, will answer, And while yet they are speaking, I, will hear.

Og det skal vera so, at fyrr dei ropar, vil eg svara, og medan dei endå talar, vil eg høyra.

25 The wolf and the lamb, shall feed, in unity, And, the lion, as an ox, shall eat straw; But as for the serpent, dust, shall be his food: They shall not harm—Nor shall they destroy, In all my holy mountain, saith Yahweh.

Ulv og lamb skal beita i saman, og løva skal eta halm som uksen, og ormen skal hava mold til mat. Ingen skal gjera vondt eller ugagn på heile mitt heilage fjell, segjer Herren.
