1 Peter 1
1 Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, to the strangers scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia,
Pedro, apóstol de Jesucristo, a los advenedizos de la diáspora en el Ponto, Galacia, Capadocia, Asia y Bitinia,
2 Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, (pneuma) unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.
elegidos conforme a la presciencia de Dios Padre, por la santificación del Espíritu, para obedecer a Jesucristo y ser rociados con su sangre: gracia y paz os sean dadas en abundancia.
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy has begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
Bendito sea el Dios y Padre de nuestro Señor Jesucristo que, según la abundancia de su misericordia, nos ha engendrado de nuevo para una esperanza viva, mediante la resurrección de Jesucristo de entre los muertos;
4 To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fades not away, reserved in heaven for you,
para una herencia que no puede corromperse, ni mancharse, ni marchitarse, y que está reservada en los cielos para vosotros
5 Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
los que, por el poder de Dios, sois guardados mediante la fe para la salvación que está a punto de manifestarse en ( este ) último tiempo.
6 Wherein all of you greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, all of you are in heaviness through manifold temptations:
En lo cual os llenáis de gozo, bien que ahora, por un poco de tiempo seáis, si es menester, apenados por varias pruebas;
7 That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perishes, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:
a fin de que vuestra fe, saliendo de la prueba mucho más preciosa que el oro perecedero —que también se acrisola por el fuego— redunde en alabanza, gloria y honor cuando aparezca Jesucristo.
8 Whom having not seen, all of you love; in whom, though now all of you see him not, yet believing, all of you rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:
A Él amáis sin haberlo visto; en Él ahora, no viéndolo, pero sí creyendo, os regocijáis con gozo inefable y gloriosísimo,
9 Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.
porque lográis el fin de vuestra fe, la salvación de ( vuestras ) almas.
10 Of which salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you:
Sobre esta salvación inquirieron y escudriñaron los profetas, cuando vaticinaron acerca de la gracia reservada a vosotros,
11 Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit (pneuma) of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow.
averiguando a qué época o cuáles circunstancias se refería el Espíritu de Cristo que profetizaba en ellos, al dar anticipado testimonio de los padecimientos de Cristo y de sus glorias posteriores.
12 Unto whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves, but unto us they did minister the things, which are now reported unto you by them that have preached the gospel unto you with the Holy Spirit (pneuma) sent down from heaven; which things the angels desire to look into.
A ellos fue revelado que no para sí mismos sino para vosotros, administraban estas cosas que ahora os han sido anunciadas por los predicadores del Evangelio, en virtud del Espíritu Santo enviado del cielo; cosas que los mismos ángeles desean penetrar.
13 Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;
Por lo cual ceñid los lomos de vuestro espíritu y, viviendo con sobriedad, poned toda vuestra esperanza en la gracia que se os traerá cuando aparezca Jesucristo.
14 As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance:
Como hijos obedientes, no os conforméis con aquellas anteriores concupiscencias del tiempo de vuestra ignorancia;
15 But as he which has called you is holy, so be all of you holy in all manner of conversation;
sino que, conformes al que os llamó, que es Santo, sed también vosotros santos en toda conducta.
16 Because it is written, Be all of you holy; for I am holy.
Pues escrito está: “Sed santos, porque Yo soy santo”.
17 And if all of you call on the Father, who without respect of persons judges according to every man's work, pass the time of your sojourning here in fear:
Y si llamáis Padre a Aquel que, sin acepción de personas, juzga según la obra de cada uno, vivid en temor el tiempo de vuestra peregrinación,
18 Forasmuch as all of you know that all of you were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;
sabiendo que de vuestra vana manera de vivir, herencia de vuestros padres, fuisteis redimidos, no con cosas corruptibles, plata u oro,
19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:
sino con la preciosa sangre de Cristo, como de cordero sin tacha y sin mancha,
20 Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you,
conocido ya antes de la creación del mundo, pero manifestado al fin de los tiempos por amor de vosotros,
21 Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God.
los que por Él creéis en Dios que le resucitó de entre los muertos y le dio gloria, de modo que vuestra fe sea también esperanza en Dios.
22 Seeing all of you have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit (pneuma) unto sincere love of the brethren, see that all of you love one another with a pure heart fervently:
Puesto que con la obediencia a la verdad habéis purificado vuestras almas para un amor fraternal no fingido, amaos unos a otros asiduamente, con sencillo corazón;
23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word (logos) of God, which lives and abides for ever. (aiōn g165)
ya que estáis engendrados de nuevo, no de simiente corruptible, sino incorruptible, por la Palabra de Dios viva y permanente. (aiōn g165)
24 For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withers, and the flower thereof falls away:
Porque “toda carne es como heno, y toda su gloria, como la flor del heno. Secose el heno y cayó la flor,
