James 5
1 Go to now, all of you rich men, weep and wail for your miseries that shall come upon you.
Y ahora a vosotros, ricos: Llorad y plañíos por las calamidades que os tocan.
2 Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are moth-eaten.
La riqueza vuestra está podrida, vuestros vestidos están roídos de polilla;
3 Your gold and silver is cankered; and the rust of them shall be a witness against you, and shall eat your flesh as it were fire. All of you have heaped treasure together for the last days.
vuestro oro y vuestra plata se han enmohecido y su moho será testimonio contra vosotros, y devorará vuestra carne como un fuego. Habéis atesorado en los días del fin.
4 Behold, the hire of the labourers who have reaped down your fields, which is of you kept back by fraud, cries: and the cries of them which have reaped are entered into the ears of the Lord of sabaoth.
He aquí que ya clama el jornal sustraído por vosotros a los trabajadores que segaron vuestros campos, y el clamor de los segadores ha penetrado en los oídos del Señor de los ejércitos.
5 All of you have lived in pleasure on the earth, and been wanton; all of you have nourished your hearts, as in a day of slaughter.
Sobre la tierra os regalasteis y os entregasteis a los placeres: ¡habéis cebado vuestros corazones en día de matanza!
6 All of you have condemned and killed the just; and he does not resist you.
Habéis condenado, habéis matado al justo, sin que este se os opusiera.
7 Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, and has long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain.
Tened, pues, paciencia, hermanos, hasta la Parusía del Señor. Mirad al labrador que espera el precioso fruto de la tierra aguardando con paciencia hasta que reciba la lluvia de otoño y de primavera.
8 Be all of you also patient; establish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord draws nigh.
También vosotros tened paciencia: confirmad vuestros corazones, porque la Parusía del Señor está cerca.
9 Grudge not one against another, brethren, lest all of you be condemned: behold, the judge stands before the door.
No os quejéis, hermanos, unos contra otros, para que no seáis juzgados; mirad que el juez está a la puerta.
10 Take, my brethren, the prophets, who have spoken in the name of the Lord, for an example of suffering affliction, and of patience.
Tomad ejemplo, hermanos, en las pruebas y la paciencia de los profetas que hablaron en nombre del Señor.
11 Behold, we count them happy which endure. All of you have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord; that the Lord is very pitiful, and of tender mercy.
Ved cómo proclamamos dichosos a los que soportan. Oísteis la paciencia de Job y visteis cuál fue el fin del Señor; porque el Señor es lleno de piedad y misericordia.
12 But above all things, my brethren, swear not, neither by heaven, neither by the earth, neither by any other oath: but let your yea be yea; and your nay, nay; lest all of you fall into condemnation.
Pero ante todo, hermanos míos, no juréis, ni por el cielo ni por la tierra, ni con otro juramento alguno; que vuestro sí sea sí y vuestro no sea no, para que no incurráis en juicio.
13 Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms.
¿Hay entre vosotros alguno que sufre? Haga oración. ¿Está uno contento? Cante Salmos.
14 Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:
¿Está alguno enfermo entre vosotros? Haga venir a los presbíteros de la Iglesia y oren sobre él ungiéndole con óleo en nombre del Señor;
15 And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.
y la oración de fe salvará al enfermo, y lo levantará el Señor; y si hubiere cometido pecados, le serán perdonados.
16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that all of you may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.
Por tanto, confesaos unos a otros los pecados y orad unos por otros para que seáis sanados: mucho puede la oración vigorosa del justo.
17 Elijah was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months.
Elías, que era un hombre sujeto a las mismas debilidades que nosotros, rogó fervorosamente que no lloviese, y no llovió sobre la tierra por espacio de tres años y seis meses.
18 And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit.
Y de nuevo oró; y el cielo dio lluvia, y la tierra produjo su fruto.
19 Brethren, if any of you do go astray from the truth, and one convert him;
Hermanos míos, si alguno de vosotros se extravía de la verdad y otro lo convierte,
20 Let him know, that he which converts the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins.
sepa que quien convierte a un pecador de su errado camino salvará su alma de la muerte y cubrirá multitud de pecados.
