Mark 15
1 And immediately early in the morning the high priests having made counsel with the elders and scribes, and all the sanhedrim, having bound Jesus, led Him away, and delivered Him to Pilate.
Dès le matin, les principaux sacrificateurs, après avoir tenu conseil avec les anciens, les scribes et tout le sanhédrin, firent lier Jésus, l'emmenèrent et le livrèrent à Pilate.
2 And Pilate asked Him, Art thou the King of the Jews? And responding He says to him, Thou sayest it.
Pilate l'interrogea: «C'est toi, qui es le roi des Juifs?» — «Tu le dis, » lui répondit Jésus.
3 And the chief priests were accusing Him of many things.
Comme les principaux sacrificateurs le chargeaient de plusieurs crimes,
4 And Pilate again asked Him, saying, Do you not answer? behold, how many things they witness against you.
Pilate l'interrogea de nouveau, disant: «Tu ne réponds rien? Vois donc, de combien de crimes ils te chargent.»
5 And Jesus responded nothing at all; so that Pilate marveled.
Mais Jésus ne fit plus aucune réponse, ce qui étonna Pilate.
6 But during the feast he was accustomed to release unto them one prisoner, whom they asked,
A chaque fête, il relâchait un prisonnier, celui que le peuple demandait.
7 And there was one called Barabbas, having been bound along with the insurrectionists, who had committed murder during the insurrection.
Or, on tenait en prison le nommé Barrabas, avec ses complices, pour un meurtre commis dans une émeute.
8 And the multitude crying out began to ask, as he was always accustomed to do unto them.
La foule étant montée au prétoire, se mit à demander l’élargissement d’un prisonnier, ainsi qu'il le leur accordait toujours.
9 And Pilate responded to them, saying, Do you wish that I may release unto you the King of the Jews?
Pilate leur répondit: «Voulez-vous que je vous relâche le roi des Juif?»
10 For he knew that the chief priests had delivered Him on account of envy.
car il comprenait que c'était par envie que les principaux sacrificateurs l'avaient livré.
11 And the chief priests persuaded the multitude that he should rather release unto them Barabbas.
Mais les principaux sacrificateurs agitèrent le peuple, afin que Pilate leur relâchât plutôt Barrabas.
12 And Pilate responding again said to them, Then what do you wish that I shall do unto Him whom you call the King of the Jews.
Pilate reprenant la parole, leur dit: «Que voulez-vous donc que je fasse de celui que vous appelez le roi des Juifs?»
13 And they again cried out, Crucify Him.
Ils crièrent de nouveau: «Crucifie-le.»
14 And Pilate said to them, For what evil hath He done? And they cried out uproariously, Crucify Him.
— «Quel mal a-t-il fait?» leur dit Pilate. Ils crièrent encore plus fort: «Crucifie-le.»
15 And Pilate, wishing to do the multitude a favor, released unto them Barabbas. And having scourged Jesus, he delivered Him up that He should be crucified.
Pilate, voulant satisfaire le peuple, lui relâcha Barrabas, et, après avoir fait flageller Jésus, il le livra pour être crucifié.
16 And the soldiers led Him into the court, which is the judgment hall; and call around Him the whole band.
Les soldats l'emmènent dans l'intérieur de la cour, c’est-à-dire, dans le prétoire, et appellent toute la cohorte.
17 And they put on Him a purple robe, and having plaited a thorny crown, put it on Him.
Ils l'affublent d’un manteau de pourpre, et tressent une couronne d'épines, dont ils ceignent sa tête.
18 And they began to mock Him, Hail, King of the Jews!
Puis ils se mettent à le saluer: «Salut, roi des Juifs.»
19 And they continued to strike His head with a reed, and spit on Him, and putting down their knees worshiped Him.
Et ils le frappent sur la tête avec un roseau, crachent sur lui, et fléchissent les genoux par manière d'hommage.
20 And when they mocked Him, they divested Him of the purple robe, and put on Him His own raiment: and lead Him away in order that they may crucify Him.
Quand ils l'eurent bafoué, ils lui ôtèrent la pourpre et le revêtirent de ses propres vêtements. Après cela, ils l'emmènent pour le crucifier.
21 And they compel a certain Simon, a Cyrenean, coming from the country, the father of Alexander and Rufus, that he must take His cross.
Ils mettent en réquisition, pour porter sa croix, un passant qui venait des champs, Simon de Cyrène, le père d'Alexandre et de Rufus;
22 And they lead Him to Golgotha, a place which is interpreted, The place of a skull.
et ils entraînent Jésus à la place de Golgotha, ce qui signifie: la place du Crâne.
23 And they gave Him myrrhed wine to drink: and He did not take it.
Ils lui présentent du vin aromatisé avec de la myrrhe, mais il n'en prit pas.
24 And they crucify Him, and divide His garments, casting the lot upon them, what each one may take.
Ils le crucifient, et se partagent ses vêtements en tirant au sort pour savoir qui aurait telle ou telle pièce:
25 And it was the third hour, and they crucified Him.
c'était la troisième heure du jour quand on le crucifia.
26 And the superscription of His accusation was written over Him, THE KING OF THE JEWS.
L'inscription indiquant le sujet de sa condamnation, portait: «Le Roi des Juifs.»
27 And they crucify two thieves along with Him; the one on His right, and one on His left.
Ils crucifient avec lui deux brigands, l'un à sa droite, l'autre à sa gauche.
[Et ainsi s'accompli le passage de l'Ecriture qui dit «Et il a été mis au nombre des malfaiteurs.»]
29 And passing by they continued to blaspheme Him, wagging their heads, and saying, Aha, thou that destroyest the temple, and buildest it in three days,
Les passants l'insultaient en branlant la tête, et en disant: «Hé! toi qui détruis le temple, et qui le rebâtis en trois jours,
30 save thyself, and come down from the cross.
sauve-toi toi-même en descendant de ta croix.»
31 Likewise also the chief priests mocking to one another with the scribes, continued to say, He saved others; He is not able to save Himself.
Les principaux sacrificateurs aussi, avec les scribes, le raillaient entre eux, et disaient: «Il en a sauvé d'autres, et il ne peut se sauver lui-même!
32 Let Christ, the King of Israel, now come down from the cross, in order that we may see and believe. And those being crucified along with Him were reproaching Him.
Que le Messie, le roi d'Israël descende maintenant de la croix, pour que nous voyions et que nous croyions» Les brigands qui étaient crucifiés avec lui, l'insultaient également.
33 And it being the sixth hour, there was darkness over all the earth until the ninth hour.
A la sixième heure, des ténèbres se répandirent sur tout le pays jusqu’à la neuvième.
34 And at the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani? which is interpreted, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?
A la neuvième heure, Jésus cria d'une voix forte: «Éloï, Éloï, lema sabachtani, » ce qui signifie: mon Dieu, mon Dieu, pourquoi m'as-tu abandonné?
35 And certain ones of those standing by said, Behold, He is calling Elijah.
Quelques-uns des assistants l'ayant entendu, dirent: «Tenez, il appelle Élie.»
36 And one running and filling a sponge with vinegar, and reaching it forth on a reed, gave Him drink, saying, Let Him alone, let us see if Elijah comes to take Him down.
Il y en eut un qui courut tremper une éponge dans du vinaigre, et l'ayant ajustée à une tige, il lui donna à boire, disant: «Laissez, voyons si Élie viendra l'ôter de la croix.»
37 And Jesus, sending forth a loud voice, expired.
Mais Jésus, ayant poussé un grand cri, expira.
38 And the veil of the temple was rent in twain from top even to the bottom.
Le voile du temple se déchira en deux, depuis le haut jusqu'en bas.
39 And the centurion standing by in front of Him, seeing that He thus expired, said; Surely this man was the Son of God.
Le centurion, qui était en face de Jésus, voyant qu'il avait expiré en jetant un tel cri, dit: «Assurément, cet homme était Fils de Dieu.»
40 And there were women looking on from a distance: among whom was Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James the less and Joses, and Salome;
Il y avait aussi des femmes qui regardaient de loin, entre autres Marie Madeleine, Marie, mère de Jacques le mineur et de Joses, et Salomé,
41 who when He was in Galilee, were accustomed both to follow Him, and minister unto Him. And many other women who came up to Jerusalem along with Him.
qui suivaient Jésus et l'assistaient, lorsqu'il était en Galilée, et plusieurs autres qui étaient montées avec lui à Jérusalem.
42 And it already being evening, since it was the Preparation, which is the day before the Sabbath,
Comme c'était le jour de la préparation, c’est-à-dire, la veille du sabbat,
43 Joseph, who is from Arimathea, an honorable councilor, who also himself was waiting for the kingdom of God; having taken courage came to Pilate, and begged the body of Jesus.
Joseph d'Arimathée arriva sur le soir: c'était un sénateur distingué par ses manières; il attendait, lui aussi, le royaume de Dieu. Il avait osé se rendre auprès de Pilate, pour lui demander le corps de Jésus.
44 And Pilate was astonished if He had died already. And having called the centurion, asked him if He was already dead.
Pilate, surpris de ce que Jésus était déjà mort, fit venir le centurion et lui demanda s'il y avait longtemps que Jésus était mort;
45 And having learned from the centurion, he gave the body to Joseph.
et, sur le rapport du centurion, il accorda gratuitement le cadavre à Joseph.
46 And having purchased linen, and taking Him down, he wrapped Him in the linen, and placed Him in a sepulcher which had been hewn out of the rock; and he rolled a stone to the door of the sepulcher.
Alors Joseph, ayant acheté un linceul, descendit Jésus de la croix, l'enveloppa dans le linceul, le déposa dans un sépulcre taillé dans le roc, et roula une pierre à l'entrée du sépulcre.
47 And Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of Joses were looking where He is placed.
Marie Madeleine et Marie, mère de Joses, observaient le lieu où l’on mettait le corps.
