1 Thessalonians 1

1 Pavl, and Siluanus, and Timotheus, vnto the Church of the Thessalonians, which is in God the Father, and in the Lord Iesus Christ: Grace be with you, and peace from God our Father, and from the Lord Iesus Christ.

Paulo, e Silvano, e Timotheo, á egreja dos thessalonicenses em Deus, o Pae, e no Senhor Jesus Christo; Graça e paz tenhaes de Deus nosso Pae e do Senhor Jesus Christo.

2 We giue God thankes alwayes for you all, making mention of you in our prayers

Sempre damos graças a Deus por vós todos, fazendo menção de vós em nossas orações,

3 Without ceasing, remembring your effectuall faith, and diligent loue, and the patience of your hope in our Lord Iesus Christ, in the sight of God euen our Father,

Lembrando-nos sem cessar da obra da vossa fé, e do trabalho de caridade, da paciencia da esperança em Nosso Senhor Jesus Christo, deante de nosso Deus e Pae:

4 Knowing, beloued brethren, that ye are elect of God.

Sabendo, amados irmãos, que a vossa eleição é de Deus;

5 For our Gospell was not vnto you in worde only, but also in power, and in the holy Ghost, and in much assurance, as ye know after what maner we were among you for your sakes.

Porque o nosso evangelho não foi a vós sómente em palavras, mas tambem em poder, e no Espirito Sancto, e em muita certeza; como bem sabeis quaes fomos entre vós, por amor de vós

6 And ye became followers of vs, and of the Lord, and receiued the worde in much affliction, with ioy of the holy Ghost,

E vós fostes feitos nossos imitadores, e do Senhor, recebendo a palavra em muita tribulação, com gozo do Espirito Sancto.

7 So that ye were as ensamples to all that beleeue in Macedonia and in Achaia.

De maneira que fostes exemplo para todos os fieis na Macedonia e Achaia.

8 For from you sounded out the worde of the Lord, not in Macedonia and in Achaia only: but your faith also which is toward God, spred abroad in all quarters, that we neede not to speake any thing.

Porque por vós soou a palavra do Senhor, não sómente na Macedonia e Achaia, mas tambem a vossa fé para com Deus se espalhou por todos os logares, de tal maneira que já d'ella não temos necessidade de fallar coisa alguma;

9 For they themselues shew of vs what maner of entring in we had vnto you, and how ye turned to God from idoles, to serue the liuing and true God,

Porque elles mesmos annunciam de nós qual a entrada que tivemos para comvosco, e como dos idolos vos convertestes a Deus, para servir o Deus vivo e verdadeiro.

10 And to looke for his sonne from heauen, whome he raised from the dead, euen Iesus which deliuereth vs from that wrath to come.

E para esperar dos céus a seu Filho, a quem resuscitou dos mortos, a saber, Jesus, que nos livra da ira futura.
