1 Thessalonians 2
1 For ye your selues knowe, brethren, that our entrance in vnto you was not in vaine,
Porque vós mesmos, irmãos, bem sabeis que a nossa entrada para comvosco não foi vã
2 But euen after that we had suffered before, and were shamefully entreated at Philippi, (as ye knowe) we were bolde in our God, to speake vnto you the Gospell of God with much striuing.
Antes, havendo primeiro padecido, e sido aggravados em Phillipos, como sabeis, tivemos ousadia em nosso Deus, para vos fallar o evangelho de Deus com grande combate.
3 For our exhortation was not by deceite, nor by vncleannes, nor by guile.
Porque a nossa exhortação não foi com engano, nem com immundicia, nem com fraudulencia;
4 But as we were allowed of God, that the Gospel should be committed vnto vs, so we speake, not as they that please men, but God, which approoueth our hearts.
Mas, como fomos approvados de Deus para que o evangelho nos fosse confiado, assim fallámos, não como para comprazer aos homens, mas a Deus, que prova os nossos corações.
5 Neither yet did we euer vse flattering wordes, as ye knowe, nor coloured couetousnes, God is recorde.
Porque, como bem sabeis, nunca usámos de palavras lisongeiras, nem de pretexto de avareza; Deus é testemunha;
6 Neither sought we prayse of men, neither of you, nor of others, when we might haue bene chargeable, as the Apostles of Christ.
Não buscando gloria dos homens, nem de vós, nem de outros, ainda que podiamos, como apostolos de Christo, ser-vos pesados;
7 But we were gentle among you, euen as a nource cherisheth her children.
Antes fomos brandos entre vós, como a ama que cria seus filhos.
8 Thus being affectioned toward you, our good will was to haue dealt vnto you, not the Gospel of God onely, but also our owne soules, because ye were deare vnto vs.
Assim nós, estando-vos tão affeiçoados, de boa vontade quizeramos communicar-vos, não sómente o evangelho de Deus, mas ainda as nossas proprias almas; porquanto nos ereis muito queridos.
9 For ye remember, brethren, our labour and trauaile: for we laboured day and night, because we would not be chargeable vnto any of you, and preached vnto you the Gospel of God.
Porque bem vos lembraes, irmãos, do nosso trabalho e fadiga; pois, trabalhando noite e dia, vos pregámos o evangelho de Deus, para não sermos pesados a nenhum de vós.
10 Ye are witnesses, and God also, how holily, and iustly, and vnblameably we behaued our selues among you that beleeue.
Vós e Deus sois testemunhas de quão sancta, e justa, e irreprehensivelmente nos houvemos para comvosco, os que crêstes.
11 As ye knowe how that we exhorted you, and comforted, and besought euery one of you (as a father his children)
Assim como bem sabeis que exhortavamos e consolavamos, a cada um de vós, como o pae a seus filhos;
12 That ye would walke worthy of God, who hath called you vnto his kingdome and glorie.
E protestavamos conduzir-vos dignamente para com Deus, que vos chama para o seu reino e gloria.
13 For this cause also thanke we God without ceasing, that when ye receiued the worde of God, which ye heard of vs, ye receiued it not as the worde of men, but as it is in deede the worde of God, which also worketh in you that beleeue.
Pelo que tambem damos sem cessar graças a Deus, de que, havendo recebido de nós a palavra da prégação de Deus, a recebestes, não como palavra de homens, mas (segundo é, na verdade) como palavra de Deus, a qual tambem opera em vós, os que crêstes
14 For brethren, ye are become folowers of the Churches of God, which in Iudea are in Christ Iesus, because ye haue also suffred the same things of your owne countrey men, euen as they haue of the Iewes,
Porque vós, irmãos, haveis sido feitos imitadores das egrejas de Deus que estilo na Judea, em Jesus Christo; porquanto tambem padecestes de vossos proprios concidadãos as mesmas coisas, como elles tambem dos judeos:
15 Who both killed the Lord Iesus and their owne Prophets, and haue persecuted vs away, and God they please not, and are contrary to all men,
Os quaes tambem mataram ao Senhor Jesus e a seus proprios prophetas, e nos teem perseguido; e não agradam a Deus, e são contrarios a todos os homens:
16 And forbid vs to preach vnto the Gentiles, that they might be saued, to fulfill their sinnes alwayes: for the wrath of God is come on them, to the vtmost.
E nos impedem de fallar aos gentios para que posaam salvar-se a fim de encherem sempre a medida de seus peccados; porque a ira de Deus caiu sobre elles até ao fim.
17 For asmuch, brethren, as we were kept from you for a season, concerning sight, but not in the heart, we enforced the more to see your face with great desire.
Nós, porém, irmãos, sendo privados de vós por um momento de tempo, de vista, mas não do coração, tanto mais procurámos com grande desejo vêr o vosso rosto.
18 Therefore we would haue come vnto you (I Paul, at least once or twise) but Satan hindered vs.
Pelo que bem quizeramos uma e outra vez ir ter comvosco, pelo menos eu, Paulo, mas Satanaz nol-o impediu.
19 For what is our hope or ioye, or crowne of reioycing? are not euen you it in the presence of our Lord Iesus Christ at his comming?
Porque, qual é a nossa esperança, ou gozo, ou corôa de gloria? Porventura não o sois vós tambem deante de nosso Senhor Jesus Christo em sua vinda?
20 Yea, ye are our glory and ioy.
Porque vós sois a nossa gloria e gozo.
