< Matthew 2 >

1 After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea during the reign of King Herod, wise men came from the east to Jerusalem.
A IESUS lao ipwidier Petleem nan Iudäa ni muein nanmarki Erodes, kilang ol lolekong kai ap pwarado sang ni mas en Iang ko dong Ierusalem, kalelapok:
2 “Where is the King of the Jews who has been born?” they asked. “We saw his star in the east and we've come to worship him.”
Ia Nanmarki en Sus akan, me apton ipwidier, kotikot ia? Pwe se kilanger a usu ni sap en mas en lang ap pwarado, pwen pongi i.
3 When King Herod heard about it, he was very disturbed, and the whole of Jerusalem with him.
A nanmarki Erodes lao rongadar mepukat, ap landar o toun Ierusalem karos,
4 Herod summoned all the chief priests and religious teachers of the people, and asked them where the Messiah was supposed to be born.
Ap kupokon pena samero lapalap karos o sounkawewe en aramas akan kainoma re’rail, wasa Kristus pan ipwidi ia.
5 “Bethlehem in Judea,” they told him, “for that's what the prophet wrote:
Irail ari potoan ong i: Nan Petleem en Iudäa; pwe iduen a intingidi ren saukop o:
6 ‘Bethlehem in the land of Judea, you are certainly not the least important of Judah's leading cities, for a leader will come from you who will be the shepherd for my people Israel.’”
A koe Petleem, sap en Iuda, kaidin me tikitik nan pung en saupeidi en Iuda kan; pwe Kaun amen pan tapi sang uk, me pan kaunda nai aramas en Israel akan.
7 Then Herod called the wise men and met with them in private and found out from them exactly when the star appeared.
Erodes ap kawai pena ol lolekong kan, kalelapok mau re’rail ansau o, me usu o pwarado.
8 He sent them to Bethlehem, telling them, “When you get there, search for the child. Once you find him let me know so that I can come and worship him too.”
I ari porone ir alang Petleem masani: Komail kowei raparapaki mau seri o; a komail lao diaradar, en kaireki dong ia, pwe i en pil kola pongi i.
9 After they had heard what the king had to say they went on their way, and the star which they had seen in the east led them until it stopped right above the place where the child was.
Irail lao ronger nanmarki o ap koieila. A kilang usu o, me irail kilanger nan sap en mas en lang, ti ong mo’rail, a lao udi ong wasa o, me seri pwelel kotikot ia.
10 When they saw the star they couldn't contain their happiness!
Irail lao kilanger usu o, re ap peren kida kaualapia.
11 They went into the house and saw the child with Mary his mother. They bowed and worshiped him. Then they opened their bags of treasure and presented him with gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.
Irail lao pedelong ong nan im o, re ap masanier seri pwelel o in a Maria, re ap kaipokedi o pongi i, o kapwaredar arail kapwa kan, ap mairongki ong i kold, o men pomau, o mire.
12 Warned by a dream not to return to Herod, they left for their own country by a different route.
Kot ap kotin pangoki ong irail ni arail auramen, en der purelang Erodes, re ap weidwei ni apot al purelang sap arail.
13 After they'd left, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream, and told him, “Get up, and take the child and his mother, and flee to Egypt. Remain there until I tell you, because Herod is going to search for the child to kill him.”
Irail lao samalar, kilang tounlang en Kaun amen ap pwara dong ren Iosep ni a aliman masani: Paurida, ale seri pwelel en o in a tangwei lang Äkipten o kaukauson wasa o, I lao kaire kin uk, pwe Erodes pan rapaki seri pwelel o pwen kamatala.
14 So Joseph got up and took the boy and his mother, and left during the night for Egypt.
I ari kipada, aleer seri pwelel o in a ni pong, kotilang Äkipten;
15 They stayed there until Herod's death. This fulfilled what the Lord said through the prophet, “I called my son out of Egypt.”
O kaukauson ia, lao en Erodes a matala, pwen pwaida, me lokido sang Kaun o, ren saukop o me masani: Sang nan Äkipten me I ekeredo nai ol o.
16 When Herod realized he'd been fooled by the wise men, he got very angry. He sent men to kill all the young boys in Bethlehem and the regions nearby who were two years old and under. This was based on the time frame he'd discovered from the wise men.
Erodes lao mangier, me a sarokidier ol lolekong kan, ap ongiong kidar kaualap o poronelan, kamela seri ol karos, me mi Petleem o nan sap salong karos, me saunpar riau o tikitik sang, duen ansau me a kalelapok mau ren me lolekong kan.
17 In this way Jeremiah's prophecy was fulfilled:
I dokan a pwaidar me lokido ren saukop Ieremia me masani:
18 “The sound of terrible weeping and mourning was heard in Rama, Rachel crying for her children. They are dead, and she can't be comforted.”
Ngil eu wiauier nan Rama, sangesang o maiei laud; Rael sangesangki na seri kan, a kang insenemaula, pwe irail soer mia.
19 After Herod died the angel of the Lord appeared in a dream to Joseph in Egypt, and told him,
A Erodes lao matalar, kilang tounlang en Kaun amen ap pwara dong ren Iosep nan Äkipten ni a aliman,
20 “Get up! Take the child and his mother, and return to the land of Israel, because those who were trying to kill the child are dead.”
Masani: Paurida ale seri pwelel en o in a, ko wong nan sap en Israel, pwe irail melar, me rapaki, pwen kamela seri pwelel o.
21 So Joseph got up and took the boy and his mother, and returned to the land of Israel.
I ari kipadar, ale seri pwelel o in a, pure dong sap en Israel.
22 But Joseph was afraid to go there after he learned that Archelaus had succeeded his father Herod as king of Judea. Warned in a dream, Joseph went to the Galilee area
A lao mangi, me Arkelaus kaunda Iudäa wiliandi sam a Erodes, ap lan kotilang wasa o. Kot ap kotin pangoki ong i ni a aliman, ap kotilang sap en Kaliläa kai.
23 and settled down in Nazareth. This fulfilled what the prophets had said, “He will be called a Nazarene.”
O kotido kotikot nan kanim eu me adaneki Nasaret, pwen pwaida, me lokido ren saukop akan: A pan maraneki men Nasaret.
