Psalms 38

1 A psalm for David, for a remembrance of the sabbath. Rebuke me not, O Lord, in thy indignation; nor chastise me in thy wrath.

Psaume de David. Pour faire souvenir. Yahweh, ne me punis pas dans ta colère, et ne me châtie pas dans ta fureur.

2 For thy arrows are fastened in me: and thy hand hath been strong upon me.

Car tes flèches m'ont atteint, et ta main s'est appesantie sur moi.

3 There is no health in my flesh, because of thy wrath: there is no peace for my bones, because of my sins.

Il n'y a rien de sain dans ma chair à cause de ta colère, il n'y a rien de sauf dans mes os à cause de mon péché.

4 For my iniquities are gone over my head: and as a heavy burden are become heavy upon me.

Car mes iniquités s'élèvent au-dessus de ma tête; comme un lourd fardeau, elles m'accablent de leur poids.

5 My sores are putrified and corrupted, because of my foolishness.

Mes meurtrissures sont infectes et purulentes, par l'effet de ma folie.

6 I am become miserable, and am bowed down even to the end: I walked sorrowful all the day long.

Je suis courbé, abattu à l'excès; tout le jour je marche dans le deuil.

7 For my loins are filled with illusions; and there is no health in my flesh.

Un mal brûlant dévore mes reins, et il n'y a rien de sain dans ma chair.

8 I am afflicted and humbled exceedingly: I roared with the groaning of my heart.

Je suis sans force, brisé outre mesure; le trouble de mon cœur m'arrache des gémissements.

9 Lord, all my desire is before thee, and my groaning is not hidden from thee.

Seigneur, tous mes désirs sont devant toi, et mes soupirs ne te sont pas cachés.

10 My heart is troubled, my strength hath left me, and the light of my eyes itself is not with me.

Mon cœur palpite, ma force m'abandonne, et la lumière même de mes yeux n'est plus avec moi.

11 My friends and my neighbours have drawn near, and stood against me. And they that were near me stood afar off:

Mes amis et mes compagnons s'éloignent de ma plaie; et mes proches se tiennent à l'écart.

12 And they that sought my soul used violence. And they that sought evils to me spoke vain things, and studied deceits all the day long.

Ceux qui en veulent à ma vie tendent leurs pièges; ceux qui cherchent mon malheur profèrent des menaces, et tout le jour ils méditent des embûches.

13 But I, as a deaf man, heard not: and as a dumb man not opening his mouth.

Et moi, je suis comme un sourd, je n'entends pas; je suis comme un muet, qui n'ouvre pas la bouche.

14 And I became as a man that heareth not: and that hath no reproofs in his mouth.

Je suis comme un homme qui n'entend pas, et dans la bouche duquel il n'y a point de réplique.

15 For in thee, O Lord, have I hoped: thou wilt hear me, O Lord my God.

C'est en toi, Yahweh, que j'espère; toi, tu répondras, Seigneur, mon Dieu!

16 For I said: Lest at any time my enemies rejoice over me: and whilst my feet are moved, they speak great things against me.

Car je dis: " Qu'ils ne se réjouissent pas à mon sujet, qu'ils ne s'élèvent pas contre moi, si mon pied chancelle. "

17 For I am ready for scourges: and my sorrow is continually before me.

Car je suis près de tomber, Et ma douleur est toujours devant moi.

18 For I will declare my inequity: and I will think for my sin.

Car je confesse mon iniquité, Je suis dans la crainte à cause de mon péché.

19 But my enemies live, and are stronger that I: and they hate me wrongfully are multiplied.

Et mes ennemis sont pleins de vie, ils sont puissants; Ceux qui me haïssent sans cause se sont multipliés.

20 They that render evil for good, have detracted me, because I followed goodness.

Ils me rendent le mal pour le bien; ils me sont hostiles, parce que je cherche la justice.

21 Forsake me not, O Lord my God: do not thou depart from me.

Ne m'abandonne pas, Yahweh! Mon Dieu, ne t'éloigne pas de moi!

22 Attend unto my help, O Lord, the God of my salvation.

Hâte-toi de me secourir, Seigneur, toi qui es mon salut!
