Psalms 45

1 Unto the end, for them that shall be changed, for the sons of Core, for understanding. A canticle for the Beloved. My heart hath uttered a good word I speak my works to the king; My tongue is the pen of a scrivener that writeth swiftly.

Au maître de chant. Sur les lis. Cantique des fils de Coré. Chant d'amour. De mon cœur jaillit un beau chant; je dis: " Mon œuvre est pour un roi! " Ma langue est comme le roseau rapide du scribe,

2 Thou art beautiful above the sons of men: grace is poured abroad in thy lips; therefore hath God blessed thee for ever.

Tu es le plus beau des fils de l'homme, la grâce est répandue sur tes lèvres; c'est pourquoi Dieu t'a béni pour toujours.

3 Gird thy sword upon thy thigh, O thou most mighty.

Ceins ton épée sur ta cuisse, ô héros, revêts ta splendeur et ta majesté.

4 With thy comeliness and thy beauty set out, proceed prosperously, and reign. Because of truth and meekness and justice: and thy right hand shall conduct thee wonderfully.

Et dans ta majesté avance-toi, monte sur ton char, combats pour la vérité, la douceur et la justice; et que ta droite te fasse accomplir des faits merveilleux.

5 Thy arrows are sharp: under thee shall people fall, into the hearts of the king’s enemies.

Tes flèches sont aiguës; des peuples tomberont à tes pieds; elles perceront le cœur des ennemis du roi.

6 Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: the sceptre of thy kingdom is a sceptre of uprightness.

Ton trône, ô Dieu, est établi pour toujours; le sceptre de ta royauté est un sceptre de droiture.

7 Thou hast loved justice, and hated iniquity: therefore God, thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.

Tu aimes la justice et tu hais l'iniquité: c'est pourquoi Dieu, ton Dieu, t'a oint d'une huile d'allégresse, de préférence à tes compagnons.

8 Myrrh and stacte and cassia perfume thy garments, from the ivory houses: out of which

La myrrhe, l'aloès et la casse s'exhalent de tous tes vêtements; des palais d'ivoire, les lyres te réjouissent.

9 The daughters of kings have delighted thee in thy glory. The queen stood on thy right hand, in gilded clothing; surrounded with variety.

Des filles de rois sont parmi tes bien-aimées; la reine est à ta droite, parée de l'or d'Ophir.

10 Hearken, O daughter, and see, and incline thy ear: and forget thy people and thy father’s house.

" Ecoute, ma fille, regarde et prête l'oreille: oublie ton peuple et la maison de ton père,

11 And the king shall greatly desire thy beauty; for he is the Lord thy God, and him they shall adore.

et le roi sera épris de ta beauté; car il est ton Seigneur: rends-lui tes hommages.

12 And the daughters of Tyre with gifts, yea, all the rich among the people, shall entreat thy countenance.

La fille de Tyr, avec des présents, et les plus riches du peuple rechercheront ta faveur. "

13 All the glory of the king’s daughter is within in golden borders,

Toute resplendissante est la fille du roi dans l'intérieur; son vêtement est fait de tissus d'or.

14 Clothed round about with varieties. After her shall virgins be brought to the king: her neighbours shall be brought to thee.

En robe de couleurs variées, elle est présentée au roi; après elles, des jeunes filles ses compagnes, te sont amenées.

15 They shall be brought with gladness and rejoicing: they shall be brought into the temple of the king.

On les introduit au milieu des réjouissances et de l'allégresse; elles entrent dans le palais du Roi.

16 Instead of thy fathers, sons are born to thee: thou shalt make them princes over all the earth.

Tes enfants prendront la place de tes pères; tu les établiras princes sur toute la terre.

17 They shall remember thy name throughout all generations. Therefore shall people praise thee for ever; yea, for ever and ever.

Je rappellerai ton nom dans tous les âges; et les peuples te loueront éternellement et à jamais.
