Luke 19
1 He entered and was passing through Jericho.
Jésus étant entré à Jéricho, traversa la ville.
2 There was a man named Zacchaeus. He was a chief tax collector, and he was rich.
Et un homme riche, nommé Zachée, chef des publicains,
3 He was trying to see who Jesus was, and couldn’t because of the crowd, because he was short.
cherchait à voir qui était Jésus, et il ne le pouvait à cause de la foule, car il était de petite taille.
4 He ran on ahead and climbed up into a sycamore tree to see him, for he was going to pass that way.
Il courut donc en avant, et monta sur un sycomore pour le voir, parce qu'il devait passer par là.
5 When Jesus came to the place, he looked up and saw him, and said to him, “Zacchaeus, hurry and come down, for today I must stay at your house.”
Lorsque Jésus fut arrivé à cet endroit, il leva les yeux, et l'ayant aperçu, lui dit: «Zachée, hâte-toi de descendre, car il faut que je loge aujourd'hui chez toi.»
6 He hurried, came down, and received him joyfully.
Zachée se hâta de descendre, et le reçut avec joie.
7 When they saw it, they all murmured, saying, “He has gone in to lodge with a man who is a sinner.”
Voyant cela, tous murmuraient, et disaient: «Il est allé loger chez un homme pécheur.»
8 Zacchaeus stood and said to the Lord, “Behold, Lord, half of my goods I give to the poor. If I have wrongfully exacted anything of anyone, I restore four times as much.”
Cependant Zachée se présentant devant le Seigneur, lui dit: «Voici, Seigneur, je donne la moitié de mes biens aux pauvres, et si j'ai fait tort à quelqu'un en quoi que ce soit, je lui rends le quadruple.»
9 Jesus said to him, “Today, salvation has come to this house, because he also is a son of Abraham.
Jésus lui dit: «Le salut est venu aujourd'hui sur cette maison, parce que celui-ci est aussi un fils d'Abraham;
10 For the Son of Man came to seek and to save that which was lost.”
car le Fils de l'homme est venu chercher et sauver ce qui était perdu.»
11 As they heard these things, he went on and told a parable, because he was near Jerusalem, and they supposed that God’s Kingdom would be revealed immediately.
Comme on écoutait sa parole, il ajouta une parabole, parce qu'il était près de Jérusalem, et qu'on s'imaginait que le royaume de Dieu allait paraître immédiatement.
12 He said therefore, “A certain nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom and to return.
Il dit donc: «Un homme de haute naissance s'en alla dans un pays lointain, pour être investi de la royauté, et revenir ensuite.
13 He called ten servants of his and gave them ten mina coins, and told them, ‘Conduct business until I come.’
Il appela dix de ses serviteurs, leur donna dix mines, et leur dit: «Faites- les valoir, jusqu’à ce que je revienne.»
14 But his citizens hated him, and sent an envoy after him, saying, ‘We don’t want this man to reign over us.’
Mais ses concitoyens, qui le haïssaient, envoyèrent une ambassade après lui, pour dire: «Nous ne voulons pas qu'il règne sur nous.»
15 “When he had come back again, having received the kingdom, he commanded these servants, to whom he had given the money, to be called to him, that he might know what they had gained by conducting business.
Quand il fut de retour, après avoir été investi de la royauté, il lit appeler ses serviteurs à qui il avait remis son argent, afin de connaître ceux qui l'avaient fait valoir, et ce qu'ils avaient gagné.
16 The first came before him, saying, ‘Lord, your mina has made ten more minas.’
Le premier serviteur vint, et dit: «Seigneur, ta mine en a rapporté dix autres.»
17 “He said to him, ‘Well done, you good servant! Because you were found faithful with very little, you shall have authority over ten cities.’
Et le roi lui dit: «C'est bien, bon serviteur, puisque tu as été fidèle dans une chose de minime valeur, reçois le gouvernement de dix villes.»
18 “The second came, saying, ‘Your mina, Lord, has made five minas.’
Le second vint, et dit: «Seigneur, ta mine en a produit cinq autres.»
19 “So he said to him, ‘And you are to be over five cities.’
Le roi lui dit de même: «Toi aussi, gouverne cinq villes.»
20 Another came, saying, ‘Lord, behold, your mina, which I kept laid away in a handkerchief,
Le troisième vint et dit: «Seigneur, voici ta mine que j'ai gardée soigneusement dans un linge,
21 for I feared you, because you are an exacting man. You take up that which you didn’t lay down, and reap that which you didn’t sow.’
car je te craignais, parce que tu es un homme rigide: tu retires l'argent que tu n'as pas placé, et tu moissonnes ce que tu n'as pas semé.»
22 “He said to him, ‘Out of your own mouth I will judge you, you wicked servant! You knew that I am an exacting man, taking up that which I didn’t lay down and reaping that which I didn’t sow.
Le roi lui dit: «Mauvais serviteur, je te jugerai, sur tes propres paroles. Tu savais que je suis un homme rigide, qui retire l’argent qu'il n'a pas placé, et qui moissonne ce qu'il n'a pas semé!
23 Then why didn’t you deposit my money in the bank, and at my coming, I might have earned interest on it?’
pourquoi donc n'as-tu pas mis mon argent dans une banque? et à mon retour, je l'aurais retiré avec intérêt.
24 He said to those who stood by, ‘Take the mina away from him and give it to him who has the ten minas.’
Puis, il dit à ses gardes: «Otez-lui cette mine, et la donnez à celui qui en a dix.»
25 “They said to him, ‘Lord, he has ten minas!’
— Ils lui dirent: «Seigneur, il en a déjà dix.»
26 ‘For I tell you that to everyone who has, will more be given; but from him who doesn’t have, even that which he has will be taken away from him.
— «Je vous dis que l'on donnera à tout homme qui a; quant à celui qui n'a pas, on lui ôtera même ce qu'il a...
27 But bring those enemies of mine who didn’t want me to reign over them here, and kill them before me.’”
Seulement, amenez ici mes ennemis, ces gens qui n'ont pas voulu que je règne sur eux, et les égorgez en ma présence.»
28 Having said these things, he went on ahead, going up to Jerusalem.
Ayant ainsi parlé, Jésus se mit en marche, en tête de la foule, pour monter à Jérusalem.
29 When he came near to Bethsphage and Bethany, at the mountain that is called Olivet, he sent two of his disciples,
Lorsqu'il approcha de Bethphagé et de Béthanie, vers la montagne appelée Bois d'oliviers, il envoya deux de ses disciples,
30 saying, “Go your way into the village on the other side, in which, as you enter, you will find a colt tied, which no man has ever sat upon. Untie it and bring it.
en disant: «Allez à ce village qui est en face; en y entrant vous trouverez un ânon attaché, sur lequel jamais homme ne s'est assis: détachez-le, et amenez-le moi.
31 If anyone asks you, ‘Why are you untying it?’ say to him: ‘The Lord needs it.’”
Si quelqu'un vous demande pourquoi vous le détachez, vous lui direz: «Parce que le Seigneur en a besoin.»
32 Those who were sent went away and found things just as he had told them.
Ceux qui étaient envoyés partirent, et trouvèrent les choses comme Jésus le leur avait dit.
33 As they were untying the colt, its owners said to them, “Why are you untying the colt?”
Comme ils détachaient l'ânon, les maîtres de l'animal leur dirent: «Pourquoi détachez-vous cet ânon?»
34 They said, “The Lord needs it.”
Ils dirent: «Le Seigneur en a besoin, »
35 Then they brought it to Jesus. They threw their cloaks on the colt and sat Jesus on them.
et ils l'amenèrent à Jésus. Puis ayant jeté leurs manteaux sur l'ânon, ils y firent monter Jésus.
36 As he went, they spread their cloaks on the road.
Pendant que Jésus cheminait, les gens étendaient leurs manteaux sur la route;
37 As he was now getting near, at the descent of the Mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works which they had seen,
mais lorsqu'il approcha de Jérusalem, déjà à la descente de la montagne des Oliviers, toute la foule des disciples, transportée d'allégresse, se mit à louer Dieu à haute voix de tous les miracles qu'elle avait vus.
38 saying, “Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord! Peace in heaven, and glory in the highest!”
Elle disait: «Béni soit le roi qui vient au nom du Seigneur!» «Paix dans le ciel, et gloire dans les lieux très-hauts!»
39 Some of the Pharisees from the multitude said to him, “Teacher, rebuke your disciples!”
Quelques pharisiens mêlés à la foule, dirent à Jésus: «Maître, reprends tes disciples.»
40 He answered them, “I tell you that if these were silent, the stones would cry out.”
Il répondit: «Je vous dis que s'ils se taisent, les pierres crieront.»
41 When he came near, he saw the city and wept over it,
Quand il fut proche de Jérusalem, à la vue de cette ville, il pleura sur elle, et dit:
42 saying, “If you, even you, had known today the things which belong to your peace! But now, they are hidden from your eyes.
«Ah! si tu connaissais, toi aussi, du moins en ce jour qui t'est donné, les choses qui appartiennent à ta paix! Hélas! elles sont cachées à tes yeux.
43 For the days will come on you when your enemies will throw up a barricade against you, surround you, hem you in on every side,
Des jours de malheur fondront sur toi: tes ennemis t'environneront de tranchées, ils t'investiront, ils te serreront de toutes parts,
44 and will dash you and your children within you to the ground. They will not leave in you one stone on another, because you didn’t know the time of your visitation.”
ils te détruiront, toi et tes enfants qui sont dans ton sein, et ils ne te laisseront pierre sur pierre, parce que tu n'as pas connu le temps où tu as été visitée.»
45 He entered into the temple and began to drive out those who bought and sold in it,
Ensuite, étant entré dans le temple, il se mit à chasser les vendeurs, en leur disant:
46 saying to them, “It is written, ‘My house is a house of prayer,’ but you have made it a ‘den of robbers’!”
«Il est écrit: «Ma maison sera une maison de prière, » mais vous, vous en avez fait «une caverne de voleurs.»
47 He was teaching daily in the temple, but the chief priests, the scribes, and the leading men among the people sought to destroy him.
Jésus passait toutes ses journées à enseigner dans le temple. Les principaux sacrificateurs, les scribes, ainsi que les grands cherchaient à le faire périr;
48 They couldn’t find what they might do, for all the people hung on to every word that he said.
mais ils ne savaient comment s'y prendre, car tout le peuple s'attachait à lui pour l'entendre.
