Psalms 91

1 Those who live under the protection of the Most High are kept safe by the Almighty.

Celui qui habite dans la retraite du Très-Haut Repose à l'ombre du Tout-Puissant.

2 This is what I say about the Lord: “He is the one who defends and protects me. He is my God, and I trust in him.”

Je dis à l'Éternel: «Tu es mon refuge et ma forteresse, Mon Dieu en qui je mets ma confiance!»

3 For he will save you from hidden traps and deadly diseases.

C'est lui qui te délivrera du filet de l'oiseleur Et de la peste meurtrière.

4 He will hide you under his feathers, and shelter you with his wings. His trustworthiness shields and protects you.

Il te couvrira de ses ailes. Et sous sa protection tu trouveras un refuge; Sa fidélité sera ton bouclier protecteur.

5 You will not be afraid of terror at night or an arrow that flies in the day,

Tu ne craindras ni les terreurs de la nuit. Ni la flèche qui vole pendant le jour,

6 or disease that attacks at night, or catastrophe that falls at noon.

Ni la peste qui se glisse à travers les ténèbres, Ni la mortalité qui sévit en plein midi.

7 A thousand may fall beside you, ten thousand die at your right hand, but you won't be harmed.

Quand il tomberait mille hommes à ton côté Et dix mille à ta droite. Tu ne serais pas atteint.

8 You only have to open your eyes and you will see how the wicked are repaid.

Mais toi, tu contempleras de tes yeux Et tu verras le châtiment des méchants.

9 Because you have made the Lord your protection, and the Most High your home,

Oui, tu es mon refuge, ô Éternel! Tu as pris le Très-Haut pour ton asile.

10 nothing evil will happen to you; no plague will come near where you live.

Aucun mal ne t'atteindra; Aucun fléau n'approchera de ta tente.

11 For he will command his angels to take care of you in everything you do.

Car il ordonnera à ses anges De te garder dans toutes tes entreprises.

12 They will hold you up with their hands so you won't trip and fall down.

Ils te porteront sur leurs mains, De peur que ton pied ne heurte contre une pierre.

13 You will trample lions and snakes; you will tread young lions and serpents underfoot.

Tu marcheras sur le lion et sur l'aspic; Tu écraseras le lionceau et le dragon.

14 I will save anyone who loves me; I will protect anyone who accepts me.

«Puisqu'il s'est attaché à moi, je le délivrerai; Je le mettrai en sûreté, puisqu'il connaît mon nom.

15 When they call out to me for help, I will answer; when they are in trouble, I will be with them. I will save and honor them.

Il m'invoquera, et je l'exaucerai; Je serai avec lui dans la détresse, Je l'en retirerai et je le glorifierai.

16 I will grant them long lives, and show them my salvation.

Je le rassasierai de longs jours. Et je lui ferai contempler mon salut.»
