After these things and this faithfulness, Sennacherib king of Assyria came, entered into Judah, encamped against the fortified cities, and intended to win them for himself.

इन बातों और ऐसे प्रबन्ध के बाद अश्शूर के राजा सन्हेरीब ने आकर यहूदा में प्रवेश कर और गढ़वाले नगरों के विरुद्ध डेरे डालकर उनको अपने लाभ के लिये लेना चाहा।
पूरी विश्वासयोग्यता में हुए इन कामों के पूरा होने पर अश्शूर के राजा सेनहेरीब ने यहूदिया पर हमला कर दिया और उसने गढ़ नगरों को घेर लिया. उसकी योजना इन्हें अपने अधिकार ले लेने की थी.
