1 Про часи ж і пори, браттє, не треба вам писати.
Bvt of the times and seasons, brethren, yee haue no neede that I write vnto you.
2 Бо самі ви добре знаєте, що день Господень, як злодїй у ночі, так прийде.
For ye your selues knowe perfectly, that the day of the Lord shall come, euen as a thiefe in the night.
3 Бо, як ховорити муть: "Упокій і безпечність", тоді несподівано настигне на них погибель, як муки на маючу в утробі, і не втїчуть вони.
For when they shall say, Peace, and safetie, then shall come vpon them sudden destruction, as the trauaile vpon a woman with childe, and they shall not escape,
4 Ви ж, браттє, не в темряві, щов той день як злодій, захопив вас.
But ye, brethren, are not in darkenes, that that day shall come on you, as it were a thiefe.
5 Усі ви сини сьвітла і сини дня; ми не (сини) ночи або тьми.
Yee are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, neither of darkenesse.
6 Тимже оце не спімо, як инші, а пильнуймо і будьмо тверезі.
Therefore let vs not sleepe as do other, but let vs watch and be sober.
7 Ті бо, що сплять, у ночі сплять, і що впивають ся, у ночі впивають ся.
For they that sleepe, sleepe in the night, and they that be drunken, are drunken in the night.
8 Ми ж, (сини) дня, тверезїмо ся, одягнувшись у броню віри та любови і шолом надїї на спасеннє.
But let vs which are of the day, be sober, putting on the brest plate of faith and loue, and of the hope of saluation for an helmet.
9 Бо не призначив нас Бог на гнїв, а на одержаннє спасення, через Господа нашого Ісуса Христа,
For God hath not appointed vs vnto wrath, but to obtaine saluation by the meanes of our Lord Iesus Christ,
10 що вмер за нас, щоб, чи то пильнуємо, чи то спимо, укупі з Ним жили.
Which died for vs, that whether we wake or sleepe, we should liue together with him.
11 Того ж то втїшайте один одного і збудовуйте один одного, яко ж і робите.
Wherefore exhort one another, and edifie one another, euen as ye doe.
12 Благаємо ж вас, браттє, знайте тих, которі працюють між вами, і старшинують над вами в Господї, і навчають вас,
Nowe we beseeche you, brethren, that ye acknowledge them, which labour among you, and are ouer you in the Lord, and admonish you,
13 і поважайте їх вельми високо в любові за діло їх. Живіть мирно між собою.
That yee haue them in singular loue for their workes sake. Bee at peace among your selues.
14 Благаємо ж вас, браттє, урозумлюйте непорядних, утішайте малодушних, піддержуйте немочних, довго терпіть усім.
We desire you, brethren, admonish them that are out of order: comfort ye feeble minded: beare with the weake: be pacient toward all men.
15 Гледїть, щоб нїхто не оддавав злом за зло, а завсїди про добре дбайте і один для одного, і для всіх.
See that none recompense euil for euil vnto any man: but euer follow that which is good, both toward your selues, and toward all men.
16 Всякого часу радуйтесь.
Reioyce euermore.
17 Без перестану молїтесь.
Pray continually.
18 За все дякуйте: така бо воля Божа в Христї Ісусї про вас.
In all thinges giue thankes: for this is the will of God in Christ Iesus toward you.
19 Духа не вгашуйте.
Quench not the Spirit.
20 Пророцтвами не гордуйте.
Despise not prophecying.
21 Всього досліджуйте; доброго держітесь.
Try all things, and keepe that which is good.
22 Од усякого виду лихого вдержуйтесь.
Absteine from all appearance of euill.
23 Сам же Бог упокою нехай осьвятить вас зовсім, і ввесь ваш дух, і душа, і тіло нехай збережеть ся непорочне у прихід Господа нашого Ісуса Христа.
Nowe the very God of peace sanctifie you throughout: and I pray God that your whole spirite and soule and body, may be kept blamelesse vnto the comming of our Lord Iesus Christ.
24 Вірен, Хто покликав вас. Він і зробить (се).
Faithfull is hee which calleth you, which will also doe it.
25 Браттє, молїте ся за нас.
Brethren, pray for vs.
26 Витайте все браттє цїлуваннєм сьвятим.
Greete all the brethren with an holy kisse.
27 Заклинаю вас Господом, прочитати посланнє се перед усїм браттем.
I charge you in the Lord, that this Epistle be read vnto all the brethren the Saintes.
28 Благодать Господа нашого Ісуса Христа з вами. Амінь.
The grace of our Lord Iesus Christ be with you, Amen. ‘The first Epistle vnto the Thessalonians written from Athens.’
