நீதிமொழிகள் 22

1 ௧ திரளான செல்வத்தைவிட நற்புகழே தெரிந்துகொள்ளப்படக்கூடியது; பொன் வெள்ளியைவிட தயையே நலம்.

A fair name is better than much wealth, and good favour is above silver and gold.

2 ௨ செல்வந்தனும், தரித்திரனும் ஒருவரையொருவர் சந்திக்கிறார்கள்; அவர்கள் அனைவரையும் உண்டாக்கினவர் யெகோவா.

The rich and the poor meet together; but the Lord made them both.

3 ௩ விவேகி ஆபத்தைக் கண்டு மறைந்து கொள்ளுகிறான்; பேதைகள் நேராகப்போய் தண்டிக்கப்படுகிறார்கள்.

An intelligent man seeing a bad man severely punished is himself instructed, but fools pass by and are punished.

4 ௪ தாழ்மைக்கும் யெகோவாவுக்குப் பயப்படுதலுக்கும் வரும் பலன் செல்வமும், மகிமையும் ஜீவனும் ஆகும்.

The fear of the Lord is the offspring of wisdom, and wealth, and glory, and life.

5 ௫ மாறுபாடுள்ளவனுடைய வழியிலே முட்களும் கண்ணிகளும் உண்டு; தன்னுடைய ஆத்துமாவைக் காக்கிறவன் அவைகளைவிட்டுத் தூரமாக விலகிப்போவான்.

Thistles and snares are in perverse ways; but he that keeps his soul will refrain from them.

6 ௬ பிள்ளையை நடக்கவேண்டிய வழியிலே அவனை நடத்து; அவனுடைய முதிர்வயதிலும் அதை விடாமல் இருப்பான்.

7 ௭ செல்வந்தன் தரித்திரனை ஆளுகிறான்; கடன் வாங்கினவன் கடன் கொடுத்தவனுக்கு அடிமை.

The rich will rule over the poor, and servants will lend to their own masters.

8 ௮ அநியாயத்தை விதைக்கிறவன் வருத்தத்தை அறுப்பான்; அவனுடைய கடுங்கோபத்தின் கோல் ஒழியும்.

He that sows wickedness shall reap troubles; and shall fully receive the punishment of his deeds. God loves a cheerful and liberal man; but [a man] shall fully prove the folly of his works.

9 ௯ கருணைக்கண்ணன் ஆசீர்வதிக்கப்படுவான்; அவன் தன்னுடைய உணவில் தரித்திரனுக்குக் கொடுக்கிறான்.

He that has pity on the poor shall himself be maintained; for he has given of his own bread to the poor. He that gives liberally secures victory an honour; but he takes away the life of them that posses [them].

10 ௧0 பரியாசக்காரனைத் துரத்திவிடு; அப்பொழுது சண்டை நீங்கும், விரோதமும் அவமானமும் ஒழியும்.

Cast out a pestilent person from the council, and strife shall go out with him; for when he sits in the council he dishonours all.

11 ௧௧ சுத்த இருதயத்தை விரும்புகிறவனுடைய உதடுகள் இனிமையானவைகள்; ராஜா அவனுக்கு நண்பனாவான்.

The Lord loves holy hearts, and all blameless persons are acceptable with him: a king rules with his lips.

12 ௧௨ யெகோவாவுடைய கண்கள் ஞானத்தைக் காக்கும்; துரோகிகளின் வார்த்தைகளையோ அவர் தாறுமாறாக்குகிறார்.

But the eyes of the Lord preserve discretion; but the transgressor despises [wise] words.

13 ௧௩ வெளியிலே சிங்கம், வீதியிலே கொல்லப்படுவேன் என்று சோம்பேறி சொல்லுவான்.

The sluggard makes excuses, and says, [There is] a lion in the ways, and murderers in the streets.

14 ௧௪ ஒழுங்கீனமான பெண்களின் வாய் ஆழமான படுகுழி; யெகோவாவுடைய கோபத்திற்கு ஏதுவானவன் அதிலே விழுவான்.

The mouth of a transgressor is a deep pit; and he that is hated of the Lord shall fall into it. Evil ways are before a man, and he does not like to turn away from them; but it is needful to turn aside from a perverse and bad way.

15 ௧௫ பிள்ளையின் இருதயத்தில் மதியீனம் ஒட்டியிருக்கும்; அதைத் தண்டனையின் பிரம்பு அவனைவிட்டு அகற்றும்.

Folly is attached to the heart of a child, but the rod and instruction are [then] far from him.

16 ௧௬ தனக்கு அதிகம் உண்டாகத் தரித்திரனை ஒடுக்குகிறவன், தனக்குக் குறைச்சல் உண்டாகவே செல்வந்தனுக்குக் கொடுப்பான்.

He that oppresses the poor, increases his own substance, yet gives to the rich so as to make it less.

17 ௧௭ உன் செவியைச் சாய்த்து, ஞானிகளுடைய வார்த்தைகளைக் கேட்டு, என் போதகத்தை உன் இருதயத்தில் வை.

Incline your ear to the words of wise men: hear also my word, and apply your heart,

18 ௧௮ அவைகளை உன் உள்ளத்தில் காத்து, அவைகளை உன்னுடைய உதடுகளில் நிலைத்திருக்கச்செய்யும்போது, அது இன்பமாக இருக்கும்.

that you may know that they are good: and if you lay them to heart, they shall also gladden you on your lips.

19 ௧௯ உன் நம்பிக்கை யெகோவாமேல் இருக்கும்படி, இன்றையதினம் அவைகளை உனக்குத் தெரியப்படுத்துகிறேன்.

That your hope may be in the Lord, and he may make your way known to you.

20 ௨0 சத்திய வார்த்தைகளின் யதார்த்தத்தை நான் உனக்குத் தெரிவிக்கும்படிக்கும், நீ உன்னை அனுப்பினவர்களுக்குச் சத்திய வார்த்தைகளை பதிலாக சொல்லும்படிக்கும்,

And do you too repeatedly record them for yourself on the table of your heart, for counsel and knowledge.

21 ௨௧ ஆலோசனையையும், ஞானத்தையும் பற்றி நான் உனக்கு முக்கியமானவைகளை எழுதவில்லையா?

I therefore teach you truth, and knowledge good to hear; that you may answer words of truth to them that question you.

22 ௨௨ ஏழையாக இருக்கிறான் என்று ஏழையைக் கொள்ளையிடாதே; சிறுமையானவனை நீதிமன்றத்தில் உபத்திரவப்படுத்தாதே.

Do no violence to the poor, for he is needy: neither dishonour the helpless [man] in the gates.

23 ௨௩ யெகோவா அவர்களுக்காக வழக்காடி, அவர்களைக் கொள்ளையிடுகிறவர்களுடைய உயிரைக் கொள்ளையிடுவார்.

For the Lord will plead his cause, and you shall deliver your soul in safety.

24 ௨௪ கோபக்காரனுக்குத் தோழனாகாதே; கோபமுள்ள மனிதனோடு நடக்காதே.

Be not companion to a furious man; neither lodge with a passionate man:

25 ௨௫ அப்படிச் செய்தால். நீ அவனுடைய வழிகளைக் கற்றுக்கொண்டு, உன்னுடைய ஆத்துமாவுக்குக் கண்ணியை கொண்டுவருவாய்.

lest you learn of his ways, and get snares to your soul.

26 ௨௬ உறுதியளித்து உடன்பட்டு, கடனுக்காகப் பிணைப்படுகிறவர்களில் ஒருவனாகாதே.

Become not surety from respect of a man's person.

27 ௨௭ செலுத்த உனக்கு ஒன்றும் இல்லாமல் இருந்தால், நீ படுத்திருக்கும் படுக்கையையும் அவன் எடுத்துக்கொள்ளவேண்டியதாகுமே.

For if those have not whence to give compensation, they will take the bed [that is] under you.

28 ௨௮ உன்னுடைய முன்னோர்கள் நாட்டின ஆரம்ப எல்லைக்குறியை மாற்றாதே.

Remove not the old landmarks, which your fathers placed.

29 ௨௯ தன்னுடைய வேலையில் ஜாக்கிரதையாக இருக்கிறவனை நீ கண்டால், அவன் சாதாரணமானவர்களுக்கு முன்பாக நிற்காமல், ராஜாக்களுக்கு முன்பாக நிற்பான்.

It is fit that an observant man and [one] diligent in his business should attend on kings, and not attend on slothful men.
