1 Amaza alikuwa na umri wa amiaka ishirini na na tano alipoanza kutawala; alitawala miaka ishini na tisa katika Yerusalemu. Jina la mama yake lilikuwa Yehoadani, wa Yerusalemu.
A son of twenty and five years hath Amaziah reigned, and twenty and nine years he hath reigned in Jerusalem, and the name of his mother [is] Jehoaddan of Jerusalem,
2 Alifanya yaliyokuwa sahihi katika macho ya Yahwe, lakini siyo kwa moyo uliojitoa kikamilifu.
and he doth that which is right in the eyes of Jehovah — only, not with a perfect heart.
3 Ikawa kwamba mapema utawala wake ulipokuwa umeimarika, aliwaua watumishi ambao walikuwa wamemuua baba yake, mfalme.
And it cometh to pass, when the kingdom hath been strong upon him, that he slayeth his servants, those smiting the king his father,
4 Lakini hakuwaua watoto wa wale wauaji, bali alitenda kama kama ilivyoaandikwa katika sheria, katika kitabu cha Musa, kama Yahwe alivyokuwa ameamru. “Baba hatajuta kwa ajili ya watoto, wala watoto hawatakufa kwa ajili ya baba zao. Badala yake, kila mtu lazima afe kwa ajili ya dhambi zake mwenyewe”.
and their sons he hath not put to death, but [did] as is written in the law, in the book of Moses, whom Jehovah commanded, saying, 'Fathers do not die for sons, and sons die not for fathers, but each for his own sin they die.'
5 Aidha, Amazia aliwakusanya Yuda pamoja, na akawaandikisha kwa kufuata nyumba za babu zao, chini ya maakida wa maelfu na maakida wa mamia —wote wa Yuda na wa Benyamini. Akawahesabu kuanzia wa mika ishirini na kuendelea, na akawaona wako 300, 000 wanaume waliochaguliwa, wawezaoa kwenda vitani, walioweza kushika mkuki na ngao.
And Amaziah gathereth Judah, and appointeth them, according to the house of the fathers, for heads of the thousands, and for heads of the hundreds, for all Judah and Benjamin; and he inspecteth them from a son of twenty years and upward, and findeth them three hundred thousand chosen ones, going forth to the host, holding spear and target.
6 Pia alikodi wanaume wa kupigana 100, 000 kutoka Israeli kwa fedha mia moja.
And he hireth out of Israel a hundred thousand mighty ones of valour, with a hundred talents of silver;
7 Lakini mtu wa Mungu alikuja kwake na kusema, “Mfalme, usiliache jeshi la Istaeli kwenda nawe, kwa maana Yahwe hayupo pamoja na Israeli -wala na mtu Yeyote wa Efraimu.
and a man of God hath come in unto him, saying, 'O king, the host of Israel doth not go with thee; for Jehovah is not with Israel — all the sons of Ephraim;
8 Lakini hata kama mtaenda na mkiwa wenye ushupavu na imara katika vita, Mungu atawatupa chini mbele ya adui, kwa maana Mungu ana nguvu za kusaidia, na nguvu za kurusha chini”.
but if thou art going — do [it], be strong for battle, God doth cause thee to stumble before an enemy, for there is power in God to help, and to cause to stumble.'
9 Amazia akasema kwa mtu wa Mungu, “Lakini tutafanyaje kuhusu talanta mia moja nilizowapa jeshi la Israeli? Mtu wa Mungu akajibu, Yahwe anauwezo wa kukupa vingi zaidi kuliko hivyo.”
And Amaziah saith to the man of God, 'And what — to do for the hundred talents that I have given to the troop of Israel?' And the man of God saith, 'Jehovah hath more to give to thee than this.'
10 Kwa hiyo Amazia akalitenganisha jeshi lilokuja kwake kutoka Efraimu; akawarudisha nyumbani tena. Hivyo hasira yao iliwaka sana zidi ya Yuda, na walirudi nyumbani kwa hasara kali.
And Amaziah separateth them — for the troop that hath come in unto him from Ephraim to go to their own place, and their anger doth burn mightily against Judah, and they turn back to their place in the heat of anger.
11 Amazia akajipa ujasiri na kuwaongoza watu wake kwenda nje kwenye bonde la chumvi, huko akawashinda wanaueme elfu kumi wa Seiri.
And Amaziah hath strengthened himself, and leadeth his people, and goeth to the Valley of Salt, and smiteth the sons of Seir — ten thousand.
12 Jeshi la Yuda likawachukua elfu kumi wengine wakiwa hai. Wakawapeleka juu ya mwamba na kuwarushwa chini kutoka huko, hivyo wote wakavunjika vunjika katika vipande.
And ten thousand alive have the sons of Judah taken captive, and they bring them to the top of the rock, and cast them from the top of the rock, and all of them have been broken.
13 Lakini watu wa jeshi ambalo Amazia alilirudisha, ili kwamba wasiende naye vitani, wakauvamia mji Yuda kuanzia Somaria hadi Beth- horoni. Wakawapiga watu elfu tatu na kuwateka wengi sana.
And the sons of the troop that Amaziah hath sent back from going with him to battle — they rush against cities of Judah, from Samaria even unto Beth-Horon, and smite of them three thousand, and seize much prey.
14 Sasa ikawa kwamba baada ya Amazia kurudi kutoka kuwachinja Waedomu, akaileta miungu ya watu wa Seiri, na kuisimamisha iwe miungu yake. Akainama chini mbele ya hiyo miungu na kuitolea sadaka za uvumba.
And it cometh to pass, after the coming in of Amaziah from smiting the Edomites, that he bringeth in the gods of the sons of Seir, and establisheth them to him for gods, and before them doth bow himself, and to them he maketh perfume.
15 Hivyo hasira ya Yahwe ikawaka zidi ya Amazia. Akamtuma nabii kwake, ambaye alisema, “Kwa nini umeitafuta miungu ya watu ambayo haikuwaokoa hata watu wake yenyewe zidi ya mkono wako?”
And the anger of Jehovah burneth against Amaziah, and He sendeth unto him a prophet, and he saith unto him, 'Why hast thou sought the gods of the people that have not delivered their people out of thy hand?'
16 Akiwa kwamaba yule nabii alipokuwa anaongea naye, mfalme akamwambia, “Je, wewe tumekufanya kuwa mshauri wa mfalme? Acha! Kwa nini ujitakie kuuawa?” Kisha nabii akaacha na kusema, ninajua kwamba Mungu ameamua kukuangaamiza kwa sababu umefanya tendo hili na hujasikilisa ushauri wangu.”
And it cometh to pass, in his speaking unto him, that he saith to him, 'For a counsellor to the king have we appointed thee? cease for thee; why do they smite thee?' And the prophet ceaseth, and saith, 'I have known that God hath counselled to destroy thee, because thou hast done this, and hast not hearkened to my counsel.'
17 Kisha Amazia akashauriana na washauri na kutuma wajumbe kwa Yehoashi mwana wa Yehoahazi mwana wa Yehu, mfalme wa Israel. akisema, “Njoni, tukutane uso kwa uso katika vita”.
And Amaziah king of Judah taketh counsel, and sendeth unto Joash son of Jehoahaz, son of Jehu, king of Israel, saying,
18 Lakini Yehoashi mfalme wa Israeli akatuma wajumbe kwa Amaziahi mfalme wa Yuda, akisema, Mbaruti uliokuwa Lebanoni ulituma ujumbe kwa mwerezi ulioko Lebanoni, ukisema, Mtoe binti yako kwa mwanangu awe mke wake; lakini akapita hayawani katika Lebanoni akatembea na kuukanyaga chini mbaruti.
'Come, we look one another in the face.' And Joash king of Israel sendeth unto Amaziah king of Judah, saying, 'The thorn that [is] in Lebanon hath sent unto the cedar that [is] in Lebanon, saying, Give thy daughter to my son for a wife; and pass by doth a beast of the field that [is] in Lebanon, and treadeth down the thorn.
19 Umesema, 'Ona, nimeipiga Edomu,' na moyo wako umekuinua juu. Jipe fahari katika ushindi wako, lakini ukae nyumbani, kwa maana ni kwa nini ujisababishie matatizo mwenyewe na kuanguka, wote wewe na Yuda pamoja nawe?'
Thou hast said, Lo, I have smitten Edom; and thy heart hath lifted thee up to boast; now, abide in thy house, why dost thou stir thyself up in evil, that thou hast fallen, thou, and Judah with thee?'
20 Lakini Amazia hakusikiliza, kwa sababu tukio hili lilikuwa limetoka kwa Mungu, ili awatie Waisraeli katika mkono wa adui zao, kwa sababu walikuwa wametafuta ushauri kutoka kwa miungu ya Edomu.
And Amaziah hath not hearkened, for from God it [is] in order to give them into hand, because they have sought the gods of Edom;
21 Kwa hiyo, Yehoashsi, mfalme wa Israeli, akavamia; yeye na Amazia, mfalme wa Yuda, wakakutana uso kwa uso huko Beth -shemishi, ulioko Yuda.
and go up doth Joash king of Israel, and they look one another in the face, he and Amaziah king of Judah, in Beth-Shemesh, that [is] Judah's,
22 Yuda akashindwa mbele za Israeli, na kila mtu akarudi nyumbani.
and Judah is smitten before Israel, and they flee — each to his tents.
23 Yehoashi, mfalme wa Israeli, akamkamata Amazia mwana wa Yehoashi mana wa Ahazia, mfalme wa Yuda, huko Beth - shemeshi. Akamleta Yerusalemu na kuuangusha chini ukuta wa Yerusalemu kuanzia Lango la Efraimu hadi kona ya Lango, umbali wa mikono mia nne.
And Amaziah king of Judah, son of Joash, son of Jehoahaz, hath Joash king of Israel caught in Beth-Shemesh, and bringeth him in to Jerusalem, and breaketh down in the wall of Jerusalem from the gate of Ephraim unto the gate of the corner, four hundred cubits,
24 Akachukua dhahabu na fedha zote, vitu vyote vilivyoonekana akatika nyumba aya Mungu kwa Obedi Edomu, na vitu vya thamanai katika nyumba ya mfalme, na mateka pia, na akarudi Samaria.
and [taketh] all the gold, and the silver, and all the vessels that are found in the house of God with Obed-Edom, and the treasures of the house of the king, and the sons of the pledges, and turneth back to Samaria.
25 Amazia mwana wa Yoashi, mfalme wa Yuda, aliishi miaka kumi na tano baada ya kifo cha Yehoashi, mwana wa Yehoahazi, mfalme wa Israeli.
And Amaziah son of Joash, king of Judah, liveth after the death of Joash son of Jehoahaz, king of Israel, fifteen years;
26 Kwa mambo mengingine kuhusu Amzia, mwanzo na mwisho, tazama, je, hayajaandikwa katika kitabu cha wafalme wa Israeli?
and the rest of the matters of Amaziah, the first and the last, lo, are they not written on the books of the kings of Judah and Israel?
27 Sasa kutoka wakati amabaoa Amazia aligeukia mbali asimfuate Yahwe, walianza kupanga njama zidi yake katika Yerusalemu. Akakimbilia Lachishi, lakini wakatuma watu nyuma yake wamfuate Lachishsi na walimuua huko.
And from the time that Amaziah hath turned aside from after Jehovah — they make a conspiracy against him in Jerusalem, and he fleeth to Lachish, and they send after him to Lachish, and put him to death there,
28 Wakamleta juu ya farasis na wakamzika pamoja na babu zake kataika Mji wa Yuda.
and lift him up on the horses, and bury him with his fathers in the city of Judah.
