Romanos 4
1 ¿Qué, pues, diremos que halló Abraham nuestro padre según la carne?
What shall we say then that Abraham our father, as pertaining to the flesh, hath found?
2 Porque si Abraham fue justificado por las obras, tiene de que gloriarse; mas no delante de Dios.
For if Abraham were justified by works, he hath [whereof] to glory; but not before God.
3 Porque, ¿qué dice la Escritura? Y creyó Abraham a Dios, y le fue imputado a justicia.
For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness.
4 Empero al que obra, no se le cuenta la recompensa por gracia, sino por deuda.
Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt.
5 Mas al que no obra, sino cree en aquel que justifica al impío, su fe le es contada por justicia.
But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.
6 Como también David describe la bienaventuranza del hombre, al cual Dios imputa justicia sin las obras,
Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works,
7 Diciendo: Bienaventurados aquellos, cuyas iniquidades son perdonadas, y cuyos pecados son cubiertos.
[Saying], Blessed [are] they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered.
8 Bienaventurado el varón al cual el Señor no imputará pecado.
Blessed [is] the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.
9 ¿Esta bienaventuranza pues viene solamente sobre la circuncisión, o también sobre la incircuncisión? porque decimos que a Abraham fue contada la fe por justicia.
[Cometh] this blessedness then upon the circumcision [only], or upon the uncircumcision also? for we say that faith was reckoned to Abraham for righteousness.
10 ¿Cómo pues le fue contada? ¿estando él en la circuncisión o en la incircuncisión? no en la circuncisión, sino en la incircuncisión.
How was it then reckoned? when he was in circumcision, or in uncircumcision? Not in circumcision, but in uncircumcision.
11 Y recibió el signo de la circuncisión, por sello de la justicia de la fe que tuvo siendo aun incircunciso; para que fuese padre de todos los creyentes, aunque no sean circuncidados; para que también a ellos les sea contado por justicia:
And he received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith which [he had yet] being uncircumcised: that he might be the father of all them that believe, though they be not circumcised; that righteousness might be imputed unto them also:
12 Y padre de la circuncisión, a los que no solamente son de la circuncisión, mas también siguen las pisadas de la fe de nuestro padre Abraham, que tenía antes de ser circuncidado.
And the father of circumcision to them who are not of the circumcision only, but who also walk in the steps of that faith of our father Abraham, which [he had] being [yet] uncircumcised.
13 Porque no por la ley fue dada la promesa a Abraham, o a su simiente, que sería heredero del mundo, sino por la justicia de la fe.
For the promise, that he should be the heir of the world, [was] not to Abraham, or to his seed, through the law, but through the righteousness of faith.
14 Porque si los de la ley, son los herederos, hecha vana es la fe; y anulada es la promesa.
For if they which are of the law [be] heirs, faith is made void, and the promise made of none effect:
15 Por cuanto la ley obra ira; porque donde no hay ley, allí tampoco hay transgresión.
Because the law worketh wrath: for where no law is, [there is] no transgression.
16 Por tanto es por la fe, para que sea por gracia; a fin de que la promesa sea firme a toda la simiente, es a saber, no solamente al que es de la ley, mas también al que es de la fe de Abraham: el cual es padre de todos nosotros,
Therefore [it is] of faith, that [it might be] by grace; to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham; who is the father of us all,
17 (Como está escrito: Por padre de muchas naciones te he puesto, delante de Dios, a quien creyó: el cual da vida a los muertos, y llama las cosas que no son, como si fuesen.)
(As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations, ) before him whom he believed, [even] God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were.
18 El cual creyó en esperanza contra esperanza, para ser hecho padre de muchas naciones, conforme a lo que le había sido dicho: Así será tu simiente.
Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations; according to that which was spoken, So shall thy seed be.
19 Y no siendo débil en fe, no consideró su cuerpo ya muerto, (siendo ya de casi cien años, ) ni la matriz muerta de Sara.
And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sara’s womb:
20 Tampoco en la promesa de Dios dudó con desconfianza: antes fue esforzado en fe, dando gloria a Dios:
He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God;
21 Enteramente persuadido que todo lo que había prometido, era también poderoso para hacerlo.
And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.
22 Y por tanto le fue imputado a justicia.
And therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness.
23 Y no está escrito esto solamente por causa de él, que le haya sido así contado;
Now it was not written for his sake alone, that it was imputed to him;
24 Sino también por nosotros, a quienes será así contado, a los que creemos en el que levantó de los muertos a Jesús, Señor nuestro:
But for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead;
25 El cual fue entregado por nuestros delitos, y resucitado para nuestra justificación.
Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.
