Salmos 8

1 Al maestro de coro. Sobre el ghittit (los lagares). Salmo de David. ¡Oh Yahvé, Señor nuestro, cuán admirable es tu Nombre en toda la tierra! Tú, cuya gloria cantan los cielos,

To the Chief Musician. On "the Gittith." A Melody of David. O Yahweh, our Lord! How majestic is thy Name, in all the earth, Who hast set thy splendour upon the heavens.

2 te has preparado la alabanza de la boca de los pequeños y de los lactantes, para confundir a tus enemigos y hacer callar al adversario y al perseguidor.

Out of the mouth of children and sucklings, hast thou laid a foundation of strength, —because of thine adversaries, to make foe and avenger be still.

3 Cuando contemplo tus cielos, hechura de tus dedos, la luna y las estrellas que Tú pusiste en su lugar...

When I view thy heavens, the work, of thy fingers, moon and stars, which thou hast established,

4 ¿Qué es el hombre para que Tú lo recuerdes, o el hijo del hombre para que te ocupes de él?

What was weak man, that thou shouldst make mention of him? or the son of the earthborn, that thou shouldst set him in charge?

5 Tú lo creaste poco inferior a Dios, le ornaste de gloria y de honor.

That thou shouldst make him little less than messengers of God, with glory and honour, shouldst crown him?

6 Le diste poder sobre las obras de tus manos, y todo lo pusiste bajo sus pies:

Shouldst give him dominion over the works of thy hands, —All things, shouldst have put under his feet:

7 las ovejas y los bueyes todos, y aun las bestias salvajes,

Sheep and oxen, all of them, —yea even the beasts of the field;

8 las aves del cielo y los peces del mar, y cuanto surca las sendas del agua.

The bird of the heavens, and the fishes of the sea, — the passer-by on the paths of the seas?

9 Oh Yahvé, Señor nuestro, ¡cuán admirable es tu Nombre en toda la tierra!

O Yahweh, our Lord! How majestic is thy Name, in all the earth.
