Deuteronomio 12

1 Estos son los mandamientos y preceptos que habéis de guardar y practicar en el país que Yahvé, el Dios de vuestros padres, os ha dado para que la poseáis todos los días que viviereis sobre la tierra:

These are the statutes and the decrees that you will keep in the land that Yahweh, the God of your fathers, has given you to possess, all the days that you live on the earth.

2 Destruid por completo los lugares en que los pueblos que habéis de desposeer han servido a sus dioses, sobre los altos montes, sobre los collados y bajo todo árbol frondoso.

You will surely destroy all the places where the nations that you will dispossess worshiped their gods, on the high mountains, on the hills, and under every green tree.

3 Derrumbad sus altares, quebrad sus piedras de culto, quemad sus ascheras, haced pedazos las estatuas de sus dioses y borrad de aquellos lugares hasta los nombres.

You must break down their altars, dash in pieces their stone pillars, and burn their Asherah poles. You must cut down the carved figures of their gods and destroy their name out of that place.

4 No haréis así con Yahvé, vuestro Dios,

You will not worship Yahweh your God like that.

5 sino que frecuentaréis el lugar que Yahvé, vuestro Dios, escogiere de entre todas vuestras tribus para poner allí su nombre y su morada. Allí irás;

But to the place that Yahweh your God will choose out of all your tribes to put his name, that will be the place where he lives, and it is there that you will go.

6 y allí presentaréis vuestros holocaustos y vuestros sacrificios, vuestros diezmos y las ofrendas alzadas de vuestras manos, vuestros votos y vuestras ofrendas voluntarias, y los primerizos de vuestro ganado mayor y menor.

It is there that you will bring your burnt offerings, your sacrifices, your tithes, and the offerings presented by your hand, your offerings for vows, your freewill offerings, and the firstborn of your herds and flocks.

7 Allí comeréis ante Yahvé vuestro Dios, y os regocijaréis, vosotros y vuestras familias, por todas las obras de vuestra mano, en que Yahvé, vuestro Dios, os bendiga.

It is there that you will eat before Yahweh your God and rejoice about everything that you have put your hand to, you and your households, where Yahweh your God has blessed you.

8 No haréis cada cual lo que bien le parezca, como aquí hacemos ahora;

You will not do all the things that we are doing here today; now everyone is doing whatever is right in his own eyes;

9 pues hasta ahora no habéis llegado al descanso y a la heredad que Yahvé, tu Dios, te da.

for you have not yet come to the rest, to the inheritance that Yahweh your God is giving you.

10 Mas pasaréis el Jordán y habitaréis en el país que Yahvé, vuestro Dios, os dará en suerte; y cuando Él os dé descanso de todos vuestros enemigos que os rodean y habitéis en seguridad,

But when you go over the Jordan and live in the land that Yahweh your God is causing you to inherit, and he will give you rest from all your enemies round about, so that you live in safety.

11 entonces en el lugar que Yahvé, vuestro Dios, elija para morada de su Nombre, allí presentaréis todo lo que yo os mando, vuestros holocaustos y vuestros sacrificios, vuestros diezmos y las ofrendas alzadas de vuestras manos y todo lo más selecto que con voto hubiereis prometido a Yahvé.

Then to the place where Yahweh your God will choose to cause his name to live there—there you will bring everything I command you: your burnt offerings, your sacrifices, your tithes, and the offerings presented by your hand, and all your choice offerings for vows that you will vow to Yahweh.

12 Y os regocijaréis ante Yahvé, vuestro Dios, vosotros, vuestros hijos y vuestras hijas, y vuestros siervos y vuestras siervas, y el levita que mora dentro de vuestras puertas, puesto que no tiene parte ni posesión entre vosotros.

You will rejoice before Yahweh your God—you, your sons, your daughters, your male servants, your female servants, and the Levites who are within your gate, because he has no portion or inheritance among you.

13 Guárdate de ofrecer tus holocaustos en cualquier lugar se te antoje,

Pay attention to yourself that you do not offer your burnt offerings at every place that you see;

14 sino que ofrecerás tus holocaustos en el lugar que eligiere Yahvé en una de tus tribus, y allí harás todo lo que yo te ordeno.

but it is at the place that Yahweh will choose among one of your tribes that you will offer your burnt offerings, and there you will do everything that I command you.

15 Sin embargo, cuando quieras, podrás matar y comer carne en todas tus ciudades, según la bendición que Yahvé, tu Dios, te haya concedido. El impuro y el puro podrá comerla, del mismo modo que se come de la gacela y del ciervo.

However, you may kill and eat animals within all your gates, as you wish, receiving the blessing of Yahweh your God for all that he has given you; the unclean and the clean persons both may eat of it, animals such as the gazelle and the deer.

16 Pero no comáis sangre, la cual derramarás como agua sobre la tierra.

But you will not eat the blood; you will pour it out on the earth like water.

17 No podrás comer dentro de tus puertas el diezmo de tu trigo, de tu vino y de tu aceite, ni los primerizos de tu ganado mayor y menor, ni ninguna, de las ofrendas que hayas prometido con voto, ni tus oblaciones voluntarias, ni las ofrendas alzadas por tu mano;

You may not eat within your gates from the tithe of your grain, your new wine, your oil, or the firstborn of your herd or flock; and you may not eat any of the meat you sacrifice along with any of your vows that you make, nor that of your freewill offerings, nor that of the offering you present with your hand.

18 sino que ante Yahvé, tu Dios, en el lugar escogido por Yahvé, tu Dios, los comerás, tú, tu hijo y tu hija, tu siervo y tu sierva, y el levita que mora dentro de tus puertas; y te regocijarás ante Yahvé, tu Dios, por todas las obras de tu mano.

Instead, you will eat them before Yahweh your God in the place that Yahweh your God will choose—you, your son, your daughter, your male servant, your female servant, and the Levite who is within your gates; you will rejoice before Yahweh your God about everything to which you put your hand.

19 Guárdate de desamparar al levita en todo el tiempo que vivas sobre tu tierra.

Pay attention to yourself so that you do not forsake the Levite as long as you live on your land.

20 Cuando Yahvé, tu Dios, haya ensanchado tu territorio, según te tiene prometido, y tú digas: Quiero comer carne, porque tu alma tiene gana de comer carne, podrás comer carne según los deseos de tu alma.

When Yahweh your God enlarges your borders, as he has promised you, and you say, 'I will eat flesh,' because of your desire to eat meat, you may eat meat, as your soul desires.

21 Si el lugar que escogiere Yahvé, tu Dios, para poner allí su nombre, está lejos de ti, podrás matar reses de tu ganado mayor y menor que te dé Yahvé, tu Dios, según lo que te tengo mandado, y podrás comerlas dentro de tus puertas siempre que lo desee tu alma.

If the place that Yahweh your God chooses to put his name is too far from you, then you will kill some of your herd and your flock that Yahweh has given you, as I have commanded you; you may eat within your gates, as your soul desires.

22 Comerás de ellas del mismo modo que se come la gacela y el ciervo. El impuro y el puro igualmente podrán comerlas.

Like the gazelle and the deer are eaten, so you will eat of it; the unclean and the clean persons may eat of it alike.

23 Pero guárdate de comer la sangre, porque la sangre es la vida; no comerás la vida con la carne.

Only be sure that you do not consume the blood, for the blood is the life; you will not eat the life with the meat.

24 No la comerás, sino que la verterás como agua sobre la tierra.

You will not eat it; you will pour it out on the earth like water.

25 No la comerás, para que te vaya bien a ti y a tus hijos después de ti, haciendo lo que es recto a los ojos de Yahvé.

You will not eat it, so that it may go well with you, and with your children after you, when you will do what is right in the eyes of Yahweh.

26 Pero las ofrendas sagradas que tienes que ofrecer, y las que hayas prometido con voto, las tomarás e irás al lugar escogido por Yahvé,

But the things that belong to Yahweh that you have and the offerings for your vows—you will take these and go to the place that Yahweh chooses.

27 y ofrecerás tus holocaustos, la sangre y la carne, sobre el altar de Yahvé, tu Dios. La sangre de tus sacrificios será derramada sobre el altar de Yahvé, tu Dios; pero la carne es para tu comida.

There you will offer your burnt offerings, the meat and the blood, on the altar of Yahweh your God; the blood of your sacrifices will be poured out on the altar of Yahweh your God, and you will eat the flesh.

28 Guarda y obedece todo esto que te ordeno, a fin de que te vaya bien a ti y a tus hijos después de ti para siempre, haciendo lo que es bueno y recto a los ojos de Yahvé, tu Dios.

Observe and listen to all these words that I command you, that it may go well with you and with your children after you forever, when you do what is good and right in the eyes of Yahweh your God.

29 Cuando Yahvé, tu Dios, haya exterminado a los pueblos contra los cuales marchas para arrojarlos de delante de ti, y cuando los hayas arrojado y habites en su tierra,

When Yahweh your God cuts off the nations from before you, when you go in to dispossess them, and you dispossess them, and live in their land,

30 guárdate de sus seducciones; no los imites después de haberlos destruido delante de ti. Ni hagas indagaciones respecto de sus dioses, diciendo: ‘¿Cómo servían estos pueblos a sus dioses? Así lo haré también yo.’

pay attention to yourself that you are not trapped into following them, after they are destroyed from before you—trapped into investigating their gods, into asking, 'How do these nations worship their gods? I will do the same.'

31 No hagas tal con Yahvé, tu Dios; porque ellos hacen en honor de sus dioses toda suerte de abominaciones que Yahvé aborrece, pues hasta queman en el fuego a sus hijos y sus hijas para honrar a sus dioses.

You must not worship Yahweh your God in that way, for everything that is an abomination to Yahweh, things that he hates—they have done these with their gods; they even burn their sons and their daughters in fire for their gods.

32 Cuida de practicar cuanto te mando, sin añadir ni quitar nada.

Whatever I command you, observe it. Do not add to it or take away from it.
