2 Crónicas 6
1 Después dijo Salomón: “Yahvé ha dicho que moraría en la oscuridad.
Then, said Solomon, —Yahweh, said, that he would make his habitation in thick gloom;
2 Por eso te he edificado una Casa para morada, y un lugar estable donde habites para siempre.”
But, I, have built a house as a home for thee, —A settled place for thee to abide in, for ages.
3 Luego, volviendo el rey su rostro, bendijo a toda la asamblea de Israel, estando de pie toda la asamblea de Israel.
And the king turned about his face, and blessed all the convocation of Israel, —while, all the convocation of Israel, was standing;
4 Dijo: “Bendito sea Yahvé, Dios de Israel, que con su boca habló a David, mi padre, y con su mano ha cumplido (lo prometido) diciendo:
and he said, Blessed be Yahweh, God of Israel, who spake with his mouth, unto David my father, -and, with his hand, hath fulfilled, saying:
5 «Desde el día que saqué a mi pueblo de la tierra de Egipto, no he elegido ninguna ciudad entre todas las tribus de Israel, para edificar una Casa donde estuviese mi Nombre; ni elegí varón que fuese príncipe de Israel, mi pueblo;
From the day I brought forth my people out of the land of Egypt, I made choice of no city, out of all the tribes of Israel, for building a house, where my Name might be, —neither made I choice of any man, to be chief ruler over my people Israel:
6 pero (ahora) he escogido a Jerusalén, para que esté allí mi Nombre, y he elegido a David para que reine sobre Israel, mi pueblo.»
nevertheless I have made choice of Jerusalem, that my Name might be there, —and I have made choice of David, that he might be over my people Israel.
7 David, mi padre, tuvo la intención de edificar una Casa al Nombre de Yahvé, el Dios de Israel.
And so it came to pass, that it was near the heart of David my father, —to build a house, to the Name of Yahweh, God of Israel.
8 Yahvé, empero, dijo a David, mi padre: «En cuanto a tu intención de edificar una Casa a mi Nombre, bien has hecho en concebir esta idea.
Then said Yahweh unto David my father, Because it was near thy heart to build a house for my Name, thou didst well that it was near thy heart:
9 Sin embargo, no edificarás tú la Casa, sino que un hijo tuyo que saldrá de tus entrañas, ese será quien edificará la Casa a mi Nombre.»
Only, thou thyself, must not build the house, —but, thine own son, that proceedeth out of thy loins—he, shall build the house for my Name.
10 Ahora bien, Yahvé ha cumplido la palabra que había pronunciado; me he levantado yo en lugar de David, mi padre, y me he sentado sobre el trono de Israel, como Yahvé había dicho, y he edificado la Casa al Nombre de Yahvé, Dios de Israel;
So then Yahweh hath established his word, which he spake, —and I have been raised up instead of David my father, and have taken my seat upon the throne of Israel, as spake Yahweh, and have built the house to the Name of Yahweh, God of Israel;
11 y he puesto allí el Arca, en la cual está la Alianza de Yahvé, que Él celebró con los hijos de Israel.”
and have put there, the ark, —wherein is the covenant of Yahweh, —which he solemnised with the sons of Israel.
12 Después (Salomón) se puso ante el altar de Yahvé, frente a toda la asamblea de Israel y extendió las manos —
Then stood he before the altar of Yahweh, in the presence of all the convocation of Israel, —and spread forth his hands;
13 pues Salomón había hecho una tribuna de bronce de cinco codos de largo, cinco codos de ancho, y tres codos de alto, que había colocado en medio del atrio— y poniéndose sobre ella se arrodilló y frente a toda la asamblea de Israel, extendió sus manos hacia el cielo,
for Solomon had made a platform of bronze, and had set it in the midst of the enclosure, five cubits, the length thereof, and, five cubits, the breadth thereof, and, three cubits, the height thereof, -and he stood thereon, and knelt upon his knees, in the presence of all the convocation of Israel, and spread forth his hands, heavenward;
14 y dijo: “Yahvé, Dios de Israel, no hay Dios como Tú, ni en el cielo ni en la tierra; Tú guardas la Alianza y la misericordia para con tus siervos que andan delante de Ti con todo su corazón.
and said, O Yahweh! God of Israel, Not like unto thee, is there a god, in the heavens, or throughout the earth, —who keepest Covenant and Lovingkindness for thy servants who are walking before thee with all their heart:
15 Tú has cumplido todas las promesas que diste a tu siervo David, mi padre, porque con tu boca lo prometiste, y con tu mano lo has cumplido, como (se ve) el día de hoy.
who hast kept, for thy servant David my father, that which thou didst promise him, —in that thou didst promise with thy mouth, and, with thy hand, hast fulfilled, as [it is] this day.
16 Ahora, oh Yahvé, Dios de Israel, cumple también lo que prometiste a tu siervo David, mi padre, diciendo: Nunca te faltará varón delante de Mí que se siente sobre el trono de Israel, con tal que tus hijos velen sobre su camino andando en mi Ley, como tú has andado delante de Mí.
Now, therefore, O Yahweh—God of Israel, keep thou, for thy servant David my father, that which thou didst promise him, saying, There shall not be cut off to thee a man, from before me, to sit upon the throne of Israel, if only, thy sons take heed to their way, to walk in my law, as thou hast walked before me.
17 Cúmplase ahora, oh Yahvé, Dios de Israel, tu palabra que prometiste a tu siervo David.
Now, therefore, O Yahweh, God of Israel, -verified be thy promise, which thou didst make unto thy servant David.
18 Pero, ¿es realmente posible que Dios habite con los hombres sobre la tierra? He aquí que los cielos y los cielos de los cielos no te pueden abarcar, ¿cuánto menos esta Casa que yo acabo de edificar?
But, in very deed, will God dwell with man on the earth? Lo! the heavens, even the leaven of heavens, cannot contain thee, how much less this house which I have built!
19 Con todo, atiende a la oración de tu siervo y a su súplica, oh Yahvé, Dios mío, y escucha el clamor y la oración que tu siervo presenta delante de Ti.
Wilt thou then turn unto the prayer of thy servant and unto his supplication, O Yahweh my God, —to hearken unto the cry and unto the prayer, wherewith thy servant is praying before thee:
20 ¡Que tus ojos estén abiertos sobre esta Casa día y noche, sobre este lugar del cual has dicho que pondrías allí tu Nombre para escuchar la oración que dirige tu siervo hacia este lugar!
that thine eyes may be open toward this house, day and night, toward the place of which thou hast said thou wouldst set thy Name there, —to hearken unto the prayer which thy servant may pray towards this place:
21 Oye, pues, la súplica de tu siervo y de Israel, tu pueblo, cuando oren hacia este lugar. Escucha Tú desde el lugar de tu morada, el cielo; escucha y perdona.
wilt thou therefore hearken unto the supplications of thy servant, and thy people Israel, when they shall pray toward this place, —yea wilt, thou thyself, hear, out of thine own dwelling-place, out of the heavens, and, when thou hearest, then wilt thou forgive?
22 Si alguno pecare contra su prójimo, y se le impusiere que haga juramento, y si él viniere a jurar delante de tu altar en esta Casa,
If a man shall sin against his neighbour, and there shall be laid upon him an oath, to put him on oath, —and an oath shall come before thine altar in this house,
23 escúchale desde el cielo; obra y juzga a tus siervos; da su merecido al inicuo, haciendo recaer su conducta sobre su cabeza, y declarando inocente al justo, remunerándole según su justicia.
then wilt, thou thyself, hear out of the heavens, and act, and judge thy servants, bringing back unto the lawless, to set his way upon his own head, —and justifying the righteous, by giving to him, according to his righteousness?
24 Si Israel, tu pueblo, fuere vencido por el enemigo, por haber pecado contra Ti, y ellos se convirtieren y confesaren tu Nombre, orando y suplicando ante Ti en esta Casa,
Or, if thy people Israel be smitten before an enemy, because they have been sinning against thee, —and they turn, and confess thy Name, and pray and make supplication before thee, in this house,
25 escúchalos desde el cielo, y perdona el pecado de Israel, tu pueblo, y llévalos de nuevo a la tierra que les diste a ellos y a sus padres.
then wilt, thou thyself, hear out of the heavens, and forgive the sin of thy people Israel, —and bring them back unto the soil, which thou didst give to them and to their fathers?
26 Si se cerrare el cielo, de manera que no haya lluvia, por haber pecado ellos contra Ti; si entonces oraren hacia este lugar y confesaren tu Nombre, convirtiéndose de su pecado por afligirlos Tú,
When the heavens are shut up and there is no rain, because they have been sinning against thee, —and they shall pray towards this place, and shall confess thy Name, from their sin, shall return, because thou hast been afflicting them,
27 escúchalos en el cielo, y perdona el pecado de tus siervos y de Israel, tu pueblo, enseñándoles el buen camino en que deben andar, y envía lluvia sobre la tierra que has dado por herencia a tu pueblo.
then wilt, thou thyself, hear [out of] the heavens and forgive the sin of thy servants, and thy people Israel, that thou mayest direct them into the good way, wherein they should walk, —and give rain, upon thy land, which thou hast given unto thy people, for an inheritance?
28 Si sobreviniere hambre en el país, si hubiere peste, o si hubiere tizón, o añublo, langosta u otra clase de insectos, o si su enemigo los cercare en el país, en las ciudades, o si hubiere cualquier otra plaga o enfermedad,
When there shall be, a famine, in the land, when there shall be, a pestilence, —when there shall be, blasting or mildew, locust or caterpillar, —when their enemy shall besiege them in the land at their own gates-whatsoever plague or whatsoever sickness; -
29 si entonces un hombre, o todo Israel, tu pueblo, hiciere oraciones y súplicas, y uno, reconociendo su llaga y su dolor, tendiere sus manos hacia esta Casa,
whatsoever prayer, whatsoever supplication, which any son of earth may have, or any of thy people Israel, —when any man shall come to know his plague, or his pain, and so he shall spread abroad his hands towards this house—
30 escúchale desde el cielo, lugar de tu morada, y perdona, remunerando a cada uno conforme a todos sus caminos, estándote manifiesto su corazón —pues solamente Tú conoces el corazón de los hijos de los hombres—
then wilt, thou thyself, hear out of the heavens, the settled place of thine abode, and forgive, and grant to every man according to his ways, whose heart thou wilt know, —for, thou thyself alone, knowest the heart of the sons of men:
31 para que te teman, andando en tus caminos todo el tiempo que vivieren en la tierra que Tú diste a nuestros padres.
to the end they may revere thee, to walk in thy ways, all the days which they shall be living upon the face of the soil, —which thou gavest unto their fathers?
32 También al extranjero, que no es de tu pueblo de Israel, si viniere de tierras lejanas a causa de tu gran Nombre, tu mano fuerte y tu brazo extendido, cuando viniere y orare en esta Casa,
Moreover also, unto the stranger who is not, of thy people Israel, but he shall come in out of a far country—for the sake of thy great Name, and of thy strong hand, and of thine outstretched arm, —and so they shall come in and pray towards this house,
33 escúchale desde el cielo, lugar de tu morada, y haz conforme a todo lo que te pidiere el extranjero, a fin de que todos los pueblos de la tierra conozcan tu Nombre y te teman, como Israel, tu pueblo, y sepan que tu Nombre es invocado sobre esta Casa por mí edificada.
then wilt, thou thyself, hear out of the heavens, out of the settled place of thine abode, and do according to all for which the stranger shall cry unto thee, —to the end that all the peoples of the earth may know thy Name, so as to revere thee like thy people Israel, and know that, thy Name, hath been given unto this house, which I have built?
34 Si saliere tu pueblo a campaña contra sus enemigos siguiendo el camino por el cual Tú le envíes, si oraren a Ti, dirigiendo su rostro hacia esta ciudad que Tú has escogido, y la Casa que yo he edificado a tu Nombre,
When thy people shall go forth to war against their enemies, whithersoever thou mayest send them, —and shall pray unto thee in the direction of this city which thou hast chosen, and the house which I have built for thy Name,
35 escucha Tú desde el cielo su oración y su plegaria, y hazles justicia.
then wilt thou hear, out of the heavens, their prayer and their supplication, —and maintain their right.
36 Cuando pecaren contra Ti —pues no hay hombre que no peque— y Tú irritado contra ellos los entregares en poder de un enemigo que los lleve cautivos a un país lejano o cercano,
When they sin against thee—for there is no son of earth who sinneth not—and thou shalt be angry with them, and deliver them up before an enemy, —who shall carry them away as their captives into a land—far away or near;
37 y ellos volviendo en sí en el país de su cautiverio se convirtieren y te suplicaren en la tierra de su cautiverio, diciendo: «Hemos pecado, hemos cometido iniquidad, hemos obrado mal»;
and they come back to their right mind, in the land whither they have been taken captive, —and so turn and make supplication unto thee in the land of their captivity, saying, We have sinned, we have done perversely, and been lawless; —
38 si de veras se convirtieren a Ti de todo su corazón y con toda su alma en el país de su cautiverio a que fueron llevados cautivos, y oraren mirando hacia la tierra que Tú diste a sus padres, y hacia la ciudad que Tú escogiste, y hacia la Casa que yo he edificado a tu Nombre,
and so turn unto thee with all their heart, and with all their soul, in the land of their captivity, whither they have carried them captive, —and shall pray in the direction of their own land, which thou gavest unto their fathers, and the city which thou hast chosen, and unto the house which I have built for thy Name,
39 escucha desde el cielo, desde el lugar de tu morada, su oración y su plegaria; hazles justicia y perdona a tu pueblo los pecados cometidos contra Ti.
then wilt thou hear out of the heavens—out of the settled place of thine abode—their prayer and their supplications, and maintain their cause, —and forgive thy people, that wherein they sinned against thee?
40 Estén, oh Dios mío, tus ojos abiertos, y tus oídos atentos a la oración que se haga en este lugar.
Now, O my God, let—I beseech thee—thine eyes be open, and thine ears attent, —unto the prayer of this place.
41 ¡Y ahora, levántate, oh Yahvé, Dios (y ven) al lugar de tu reposo, Tú y el Arca de tu poderío! ¡Que tus sacerdotes, oh Yahvé Dios, se revistan de salud y tus santos gocen de tus bienes!
Now, therefore, arise! O Yahweh God, unto thy rest, thou, and the ark of thy strength: Thy priests, O Yahweh God, let them be clothed with salvation, and, thy men of lovingkindness, let them rejoice in prosperity.
42 Yahvé, Dios mío, no rechaces el rostro de tu ungido; acuérdate de las misericordias (otorgadas) a David, tu siervo.”
O Yahweh God! do not turn away thy face from thine Anointed One, —oh remember lovingkindness unto David thy servant.
