1 Јер овај Мелхиседек беше цар салимски, свештеник Бога Највишег, који срете Авраама кад се враћаше с боја царева, и благослови га;
For this Melchisedec, king of Salem, priest of the most high God, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings, and blessed him;
2 Коме и Авраам даде десетак од свега. Прво дакле значи цар правде, потом и цар салимски, то јест цар мира:
To whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all; first being by interpretation King of righteousness, and after that also King of Salem, which is, King of peace;
3 Без оца, без матере, без рода, не имајући ни почетка данима, ни свршетка животу, а испоређен са сином Божијим, и остаје свештеник довека.
Without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life; but made like to the Son of God; stays a priest continually.
4 Али погледајте колики је овај коме је и Авраам патријарх дао десетак од плена.
Now consider how great this man was, to whom even the patriarch Abraham gave the tenth of the spoils.
5 Истина, и они од синова Левијевих који примише свештенство, имају заповест да узимају по закону десетак од народа, то јест од браће своје, ако су и изишли из бедара Аврамових.
And truly they that are of the sons of Levi, who receive the office of the priesthood, have a commandment to take tithes of the people according to the law, that is, of their brothers, though they come out of the loins of Abraham:
6 Али онај који се не броји од њиховог рода, узе десетак од Авраама, и благослови оног који има обећање.
But he whose descent is not counted from them received tithes of Abraham, and blessed him that had the promises.
7 Али без сваког изговора мање благослови веће.
And without all contradiction the less is blessed of the better.
8 И тако овде узимају десетак људи који умиру, а онамо Онај за ког се посведочи да живи.
And here men that die receive tithes; but there he receives them, of whom it is witnessed that he lives.
9 И, да овако кажем, Левије који узе десетак, дао је десетак кроз Авраама:
And as I may so say, Levi also, who receives tithes, paid tithes in Abraham.
10 Јер беше још у бедрима очевим кад га срете Мелхиседек.
For he was yet in the loins of his father, when Melchisedec met him.
11 Ако је, дакле, савршенство постало кроз левитско свештенство (јер је народ под њим закон примио), каква је још потреба била говорити да ће други свештеник постати по реду Мелхиседековом, а не по реду Ароновом?
If therefore perfection were by the Levitical priesthood, (for under it the people received the law, ) what further need was there that another priest should rise after the order of Melchisedec, and not be called after the order of Aaron?
12 Јер, кад се промени свештенство, мора се и закон променити.
For the priesthood being changed, there is made of necessity a change also of the law.
13 Јер за кога се ово говори Он је од другог колена, од ког нико не приступи к олтару.
For he of whom these things are spoken pertains to another tribe, of which no man gave attendance at the altar.
14 Јер је познато да Господ наш од колена Јудина изађе, за које колено Мојсије не говори ништа о свештенству.
For it is evident that our Lord sprang out of Juda; of which tribe Moses spoke nothing concerning priesthood.
15 И још је више познато да ће по реду Мелхиседековом други свештеник постати,
And it is yet far more evident: for that after the similitude of Melchisedec there rises another priest,
16 Који није постао по закону телесне заповести него по сили живота вечног.
Who is made, not after the law of a carnal commandment, but after the power of an endless life.
For he testifies, You are a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec. (aiōn g165)
18 Тако се укида пређашња заповест, што би слаба и залудна.
For there is truly a cancellation of the commandment going before for the weakness and unprofitableness thereof.
19 Јер закон није ништа савршио; а постави бољу наду, кроз коју се приближујемо к Богу.
For the law made nothing perfect, but the bringing in of a better hope did; by the which we draw near to God.
20 И још не без заклетве:
And inasmuch as not without an oath he was made priest:
21 Јер они без заклетве посташе свештеници; а Овај са заклетвом кроз Оног који Му говори: Закле се Господ и неће се раскајати: Ти си свештеник вавек по реду Мелхиседековом. (aiōn g165)
(For those priests were made without an oath; but this with an oath by him that said to him, The Lord swore and will not repent, You are a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec: ) (aiōn g165)
22 Толико бољег завета поста Исус јамац.
By so much was Jesus made a surety of a better testament.
23 И они многи бише свештеници, јер им смрт не даде да остану.
And they truly were many priests, because they were not suffered to continue by reason of death:
But this man, because he continues ever, has an unchangeable priesthood. (aiōn g165)
25 Зато и може вавек спасти оне који кроза Њ долазе к Богу, кад свагда живи да се може молити за њих.
Why he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come to God by him, seeing he ever lives to make intercession for them.
26 Јер такав нама требаше поглавар свештенички: свет, безазлен, чист, одвојен од грешника, и који је био више небеса;
For such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens;
27 Коме није потребно сваки дан, као свештеницима, најпре за своје грехе жртве приносити, а потом за народне, јер Он ово учини једном, кад себе принесе.
Who needs not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for the people’s: for this he did once, when he offered up himself.
28 Јер закон поставља људе за свештенике који имају слабост; а реч заклетве које је речена по закону, постави сина вавек савршена. (aiōn g165)
For the law makes men high priests which have infirmity; but the word of the oath, which was since the law, makes the Son, who is consecrated for ever more. (aiōn g165)
