கா³லாதிந: 4
1 அஹம்’ வதா³மி ஸம்பத³தி⁴காரீ யாவத்³ பா³லஸ்திஷ்ட²தி தாவத் ஸர்வ்வஸ்வஸ்யாதி⁴பதி: ஸந்நபி ஸ தா³ஸாத் கேநாபி விஷயேண ந விஸி²ஷ்யதே
But I say: —for as long a time as, the heir, is an infant, he differeth, nothing, from a servant, though, lord of all,
2 கிந்து பித்ரா நிரூபிதம்’ ஸமயம்’ யாவத் பாலகாநாம்’ த⁴நாத்⁴யக்ஷாணாஞ்ச நிக்⁴நஸ்திஷ்ட²தி|
But is, under guardians, and stewards, until the [day] fore-appointed of the father:
3 தத்³வத்³ வயமபி பா³ல்யகாலே தா³ஸா இவ ஸம்’ஸாரஸ்யாக்ஷரமாலாயா அதீ⁴நா ஆஸ்மஹே|
So also, we, when we were infants, under the elementary principles of the world, were held in servitude;
4 அநந்தரம்’ ஸமயே ஸம்பூர்ணதாம்’ க³தவதி வ்யவஸ்தா²தீ⁴நாநாம்’ மோசநார்த²ம்
But, when the fulness of the time came, God sent forth his Son, who came to be of a woman, who came to be under law, —
5 அஸ்மாகம்’ புத்ரத்வப்ராப்த்யர்த²ஞ்சேஸ்²வர: ஸ்த்ரியா ஜாதம்’ வ்யவஸ்தா²யா அதி⁴நீபூ⁴தஞ்ச ஸ்வபுத்ரம்’ ப்ரேஷிதவாந்|
That, them who were under law, he might redeem, that, the sonship, we might duly receive; —
6 யூயம்’ ஸந்தாநா அப⁴வத தத்காரணாத்³ ஈஸ்²வர: ஸ்வபுத்ரஸ்யாத்மாநாம்’ யுஷ்மாகம் அந்த: கரணாநி ப்ரஹிதவாந் ஸ சாத்மா பித: பிதரித்யாஹ்வாநம்’ காரயதி|
And, because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, exclaiming, Abba! Oh Father!
7 அத இதா³நீம்’ யூயம்’ ந தா³ஸா: கிந்து: ஸந்தாநா ஏவ தஸ்மாத் ஸந்தாநத்வாச்ச க்²ரீஷ்டேநேஸ்²வரீயஸம்பத³தி⁴காரிணோ(அ)ப்யாத்⁴வே|
So that, no longer, art thou a servant, but a son; and, if a son, an heir also, through God.
8 அபரஞ்ச பூர்வ்வம்’ யூயம் ஈஸ்²வரம்’ ந ஜ்ஞாத்வா யே ஸ்வபா⁴வதோ(அ)நீஸ்²வராஸ்தேஷாம்’ தா³ஸத்வே(அ)திஷ்ட²த|
But, at that time—not knowing God, ye were in servitude unto them who, by nature, are not Gods;
9 இதா³நீம் ஈஸ்²வரம்’ ஜ்ஞாத்வா யதி³ வேஸ்²வரேண ஜ்ஞாதா யூயம்’ கத²ம்’ புநஸ்தாநி விப²லாநி துச்சா²நி சாக்ஷராணி ப்ரதி பராவர்த்திதும்’ ஸ²க்நுத²? யூயம்’ கிம்’ புநஸ்தேஷாம்’ தா³ஸா ப⁴விதுமிச்ச²த²?
Whereas, now, having acknowledged God, —or rather, having been acknowledged by God, how turn ye back again unto the weak and beggarly elementary principles, unto which, over again, ye are wishing, to come into servitude?
10 யூயம்’ தி³வஸாந் மாஸாந் திதீ²ந் ஸம்’வத்ஸராம்’ஸ்²ச ஸம்மந்யத்⁴வே|
Days, ye do narrowly observer, and months, and seasons, and years: —
11 யுஷ்மத³ர்த²ம்’ மயா ய: பரிஸ்²ரமோ(அ)காரி ஸ விப²லோ ஜாத இதி யுஷ்மாநத்⁴யஹம்’ பி³பே⁴மி|
I am afraid of you—lest by any means, in vain, I should have toiled for you!
12 ஹே ப்⁴ராதர: , அஹம்’ யாத்³ரு’ஸோ²(அ)ஸ்மி யூயமபி தாத்³ரு’ஸா² ப⁴வதேதி ப்ரார்த²யே யதோ(அ)ஹமபி யுஷ்மத்துல்யோ(அ)ப⁴வம்’ யுஷ்மாபி⁴ ர்மம கிமபி நாபராத்³த⁴ம்’|
Become ye as, I, because, I also, [was] as, ye, —brethren, I entreat you. Not at all, have ye wronged me.
13 பூர்வ்வமஹம்’ கலேவரஸ்ய தௌ³ர்ப்³ப³ல்யேந யுஷ்மாந் ஸுஸம்’வாத³ம் அஜ்ஞாபயமிதி யூயம்’ ஜாநீத²|
Howbeit ye know that, by reason of a weakness of the flesh, I myself announced the glad-message unto you, formerly;
14 ததா³நீம்’ மம பரீக்ஷகம்’ ஸா²ரீரக்லேஸ²ம்’ த்³ரு’ஷ்ட்வா யூயம்’ மாம் அவஜ்ஞாய ரு’தீயிதவந்தஸ்தந்நஹி கிந்த்வீஸ்²வரஸ்ய தூ³தமிவ ஸாக்ஷாத் க்²ரீஷ்ட யீஸு²மிவ வா மாம்’ க்³ரு’ஹீதவந்த: |
And, your trial, in my flesh, ye despised not, neither spat ye [in disgust], but, as a messenger of God, ye welcomed me—as Christ Jesus.
15 அதஸ்ததா³நீம்’ யுஷ்மாகம்’ யா த⁴ந்யதாப⁴வத் ஸா க்க க³தா? ததா³நீம்’ யூயம்’ யதி³ ஸ்வேஷாம்’ நயநாந்யுத்பாட்ய மஹ்யம்’ தா³தும் அஸ²க்ஷ்யத தர்ஹி தத³ப்யகரிஷ்யதேதி ப்ரமாணம் அஹம்’ த³தா³மி|
Where, then, is the happiness ye accounted yours? For I bear you witness—that, if possible, your eyes, ye would have dug out, and given unto me.
16 ஸாம்ப்ரதமஹம்’ ஸத்யவாதி³த்வாத் கிம்’ யுஷ்மாகம்’ ரிபு ர்ஜாதோ(அ)ஸ்மி?
So then, your enemy, have I become, by dealing truthfully with you?
17 தே யுஷ்மத்க்ரு’தே ஸ்பர்த்³த⁴ந்தே கிந்து ஸா ஸ்பர்த்³தா⁴ குத்ஸிதா யதோ யூயம்’ தாநதி⁴ யத் ஸ்பர்த்³த⁴த்⁴வம்’ தத³ர்த²ம்’ தே யுஷ்மாந் ப்ரு’த²க் கர்த்தும் இச்ச²ந்தி|
They shew a zeal for you, not honourably, but wish, to shut you out, in order that ye may be zealous for, them.
18 கேவலம்’ யுஷ்மத்ஸமீபே மமோபஸ்தி²திஸமயே தந்நஹி, கிந்து ஸர்வ்வதை³வ ப⁴த்³ரமதி⁴ ஸ்பர்த்³த⁴நம்’ ப⁴த்³ரம்’|
Howbeit it is, honourable, to show zeal in what is honourable at all times, and not only when I am present with you; —
19 ஹே மம பா³லகா: , யுஷ்மத³ந்த ர்யாவத் க்²ரீஷ்டோ மூர்திமாந் ந ப⁴வதி தாவத்³ யுஷ்மத்காரணாத் புந: ப்ரஸவவேத³நேவ மம வேத³நா ஜாயதே|
My dear children! for whom I, again, am in birth-pains, until Christ be formed within you; —
20 அஹமிதா³நீம்’ யுஷ்மாகம்’ ஸந்நிதி⁴ம்’ க³த்வா ஸ்வராந்தரேண யுஷ்மாந் ஸம்பா⁴ஷிதும்’ காமயே யதோ யுஷ்மாநதி⁴ வ்யாகுலோ(அ)ஸ்மி|
I could wish, however, to be present with you, even now, and to change my voice, —because I am perplexed regarding you.
21 ஹே வ்யவஸ்தா²தீ⁴நதாகாங்க்ஷிண: யூயம்’ கிம்’ வ்யவஸ்தா²யா வசநம்’ ந க்³ரு’ஹ்லீத²?
Tell me! ye who, under law, are wishing to be: The law, do ye not hear?
22 தந்மாம்’ வத³த| லிகி²தமாஸ்தே, இப்³ராஹீமோ த்³வௌ புத்ராவாஸாதே தயோரேகோ தா³ஸ்யாம்’ த்³விதீயஸ்²ச பத்ந்யாம்’ ஜாத: |
For it is written, that, Abraham, had two sons—one by the bondmaid, and one by the free woman;
23 தயோ ர்யோ தா³ஸ்யாம்’ ஜாத: ஸ ஸா²ரீரிகநியமேந ஜஜ்ஞே யஸ்²ச பத்ந்யாம்’ ஜாத: ஸ ப்ரதிஜ்ஞயா ஜஜ்ஞே|
But, he that was of the bondmaid, after the flesh, had been born, whereas, he that was of the free woman, through means of a promise.
24 இத³மாக்²யாநம்’ த்³ரு’ஷ்டந்தஸ்வரூபம்’| தே த்³வே யோஷிதாவீஸ்²வரீயஸந்தீ⁴ தயோரேகா ஸீநயபர்வ்வதாத்³ உத்பந்நா தா³ஸஜநயித்ரீ ச ஸா து ஹாஜிரா|
Which things, indeed, may bear another meaning; for, the same, are two covenants, —one, indeed, from Mount Sinai, into bondage, bringing forth, the which is Hagar, —
25 யஸ்மாத்³ ஹாஜிராஸ²ப்³தே³நாரவதே³ஸ²ஸ்த²ஸீநயபர்வ்வதோ போ³த்⁴யதே, ஸா ச வர்த்தமாநாயா யிரூஸா²லம்புர்ய்யா: ஸத்³ரு’ஸீ²| யத: ஸ்வபா³லை: ஸஹிதா ஸா தா³ஸத்வ ஆஸ்தே|
And, the Hagar, is Mount Sinai, in Arabia, —she answereth, however, unto the present Jerusalem, for she is in bondage with her children;
26 கிந்து ஸ்வர்கீ³யா யிரூஸா²லம்புரீ பத்நீ ஸர்வ்வேஷாம் அஸ்மாகம்’ மாதா சாஸ்தே|
But, the Jerusalem above, is free, —the which is our mother;
27 யாத்³ரு’ஸ²ம்’ லிகி²தம் ஆஸ்தே, "வந்த்⁴யே ஸந்தாநஹீநே த்வம்’ ஸ்வரம்’ ஜயஜயம்’ குரு| அப்ரஸூதே த்வயோல்லாஸோ ஜயாஸ²ப்³த³ஸ்²ச கீ³யதாம்’| யத ஏவ ஸநாதா²யா யோஷித: ஸந்ததே ர்க³ணாத்| அநாதா² யா ப⁴வேந்நாரீ தத³பத்யாநி பூ⁴ரிஸ²: || "
For it is written—Be gladdened, O barren one! that wast not giving birth, break forth and shout, thou that wast not in birth-pains, —because, more, are the children of the deserted one, than of her that had the husband.
28 ஹே ப்⁴ராத்ரு’க³ண, இம்ஹாக் இவ வயம்’ ப்ரதிஜ்ஞயா ஜாதா: ஸந்தாநா: |
And, we, brethren, after the manner of Isaac, are children of a promise.
29 கிந்து ததா³நீம்’ ஸா²ரீரிகநியமேந ஜாத: புத்ரோ யத்³வத்³ ஆத்மிகநியமேந ஜாதம்’ புத்ரம் உபாத்³ரவத் ததா²து⁴நாபி|
But, just as, then, he that after the manner of the flesh had been born, did persecute him who [had been born] after the manner of the Spirit, thus, also now.
30 கிந்து ஸா²ஸ்த்ரே கிம்’ லிகி²தம்’? "த்வம் இமாம்’ தா³ஸீம்’ தஸ்யா: புத்ரஞ்சாபஸாரய யத ஏஷ தா³ஸீபுத்ர: பத்நீபுத்ரேண ஸமம்’ நோத்தராதி⁴காரீ ப⁴விய்யதீதி| "
But, what saith the scripture? Cast out the serving woman and her son; for in nowise shall the son of the serving woman inherit with the son of the free.
31 அதஏவ ஹே ப்⁴ராதர: , வயம்’ தா³ஸ்யா: ஸந்தாநா ந பூ⁴த்வா பாத்ந்யா: ஸந்தாநா ப⁴வாம: |
Wherefore, brethren, we are not children of a serving woman, but of the free: —
