Gálatas 4
1 Ora, falarei mais das [crianças e herdeiros]: [O herdeiro é uma pessoa que ]controlará [posteriormente ]tudo que seu pai possui. Mas enquanto aquele herdeiro for criança, outros o [controlam, ]portanto ele é parecido a um escravo [MET].
Now, I [will further] discuss [children and heirs]: [An heir is a person who will later] control all that his father has. But as long as that heir is a child, others [control] him, with the result that he is just like a slave [MET].
2 Até [o dia previamente ]determinado por seu pai, [outras ]pessoas o supervisam e administram a propriedade dele.
Until the [day that] his father [previously] determined, [other] persons supervise him and manage his father’s property.
3 Semelhantemente, quando nós (incl) (OU, nós [excl] [judeus]) éramos [como ]criancinhas [MET], éramos obrigados a obedecer às regras e rituais relacionados às coisas externas e materiais. Estas regras nos controlavam como [os patrões controlam os seus escravos ][MET].
Likewise, when we [(inc)] (OR, we [(exc) Jews]) were [like] young children [MET], we were controlled by the spiritual powers of this world. They controlled us like [masters control their slaves] [MET].
4 Mas justamente no momento [MTY] [determinado anteriormente por Deus], ele mandou [Jesus], que era seu Filho/o homem que era também Deus—, para o mundo. Jesus nasceu de uma mãe [humana]. Ele era obrigado a obedecer às leis que [Deus deu a Moisés].
But exactly at the time [MTY] [that God had previously determined], he sent [Jesus], who is (his Son/the man who is also God), into the world. Jesus was born to a [human] mother. He had to obey the laws [that God gave to Moses].
5 Deus o mandou para que pudesse nos redimir, a nós que éramos obrigados a obedecer às leis de [Deus]. Ele desejava que todos recebêssemos de [Deus ]a categoria de sermos filhos dele [MET].
God sent Jesus in order that he might redeem us who had to obey [God’s] laws. God wanted us all to receive from [God] the status of being his children [MET].
6 Além disso, sabemos que somos filhos de Deus porque Deus mandou o Espírito, que está intimamente relacionado a seu Filho, para habitar no nosso interior. [O Espírito nos capacita a ]orar com fervor: “Pai/Papai!” [Isto comprova que somos filhos de Deus].
Furthermore, we know that we are God’s children because God sent the Spirit, who is intimately related to Jesus, to live in our (inner beings/hearts). [The Spirit enables us to] pray fervently, “Daddy, Father!” [This shows that we are God’s children].
7 Portanto, [por causa daquilo que Deus já fez, cada um ]de vocês não é mais [como ]escravo. Pelo contrário, [cada um de vocês ]é filho [de Deus]. Além disso, sendo [cada um de vocês ]filho [de Deus], Deus também o tornou um indivíduo que receberá tudo que ele prometeu.
So, [because of what God has done], no longer is [each of] you [like] a slave. Instead, [each of you is] a child [of God]. Furthermore, since [each of you is God’s] child, God has also made you his heir, [one who will receive all that he has promised].
8 Quando vocês não tinham ainda um relacionamento com Deus, serviam a deuses que realmente não existiam [MET], [justamente ]como os escravos [servem aos seus patrões ][MET].
When you did not have a relationship with God [MET], you served gods that really did not exist [MET]. You were their slaves.
9 Mas agora vocês chegaram a conhecer a Deus. Talvez [fosse melhor dizer que ]agora vocês são conhecidos de Deus {Deus conhece vocês}. [Portanto, agora estão agindo de uma forma muito tola]! —Vocês estão/Por que vocês estão— [RHQ] crendo novamente que, [por obedecerem ]às regras e rituais, [vocês se beneficiarão espiritualmente]!/? [Essas regras são ]ineficazes e inadequadas! –Vocês estão/Será que vocês estão—[RHQ] querendo [obedecer-lhas ]novamente [MET] como os escravos obedecem ao seu patrão./?
But now you have come to know God. Perhaps [it would be better to say that] now God knows you. [So now you are acting foolishly]! (You are again believing [that by obeying] rules and rites [you will benefit spiritually]! [RHQ] [Those rules are] ineffective and inadequate! You are wanting to [obey them] again [MET] like slaves obey their masters. [RHQ]
10 Vocês [não judeus ]observam cuidadosamente [os regulamentos e rituais judaicos relacionados ao sábado/aos ]dias de [descanso judaico(s), os primeiros dias de cada ]mês e [as épocas ]e anos especiais.
You [non-Jews] are carefully practicing [Jewish rules and rituals about what you should do] (on [Sabbaths/on Jewish days of rest]) and [on the first day of each] month and on [special] seasons and years.
11 Preocupo-me por [aquilo que ]vocês [estão fazendo. Não quero ]tê-los servido [tão ]exaustivamente em vão.
I (worry/am concerned) about your [mistaken ideas. I do not want] to have [so] strenuously served you in vain.
12 Meus irmãos crentes, quero incentivá-los fortemente a fazer como eu faço. [Deixem de pensar que sejam obrigados a obedecer os regulamentos e ritos/leis cerimoniais dos judeus. ]Quando eu estava com vocês, [não obedecia a todas as regras e ritos dos judeus], como vocês também [não lhes obedeciam]. [Naquele tempo ]vocês me tratavam de um modo completamente justo [LIT].
My fellow believers, I strongly urge you that you do as I do. [Stop thinking that you have to obey (Jewish rules and rituals/ceremonial laws]). [When I was with you], I [did not obey all the Jewish rules and rituals], just like you [did not obey them]. [At that time] you treated me entirely as you should have [LIT].
13 Vocês sabem que, da primeira vez que preguei a boa mensagem a vocês, [dirigi-me à sua região para recuperar minha saúde, pois estava fisicamente fraco].
You know that the first time I preached to you, [I went to your area to regain my health, because I was physically weak].
14 [Embora ]vocês pudessem ter-[me desprezado por ]eu estar fisicamente fraco, não me desprezaram nem agiram para comigo de uma forma desdenhosa. Pelo contrário, vocês me acolheram como [acolheriam ]um anjo de Deus. [Vocês me acolheram ]como [teriam acolhido ]o próprio Cristo Jesus!
[Although] you might have [despised me because] I was physically weak, you did not despise me or act contemptuously/disrespectfully toward me. Instead, you welcomed me like [you would welcome] an angel from God. [You welcomed me] like [you would welcome] Christ Jesus!
15 Estou decepcionado que agora vocês tenham / Será que vocês— [RHQ] esquecido/se esqueceram [que naquela ]época declararam [que estavam ]contentes [comigo]./? Posso testificar que vocês [teriam feito qualquer coisa para me ajudar]. Vocês teriam arrancado seus próprios olhos para me dar, [se tal gesto fosse me ajudar]!
(I am disappointed that you have forgotten [that then] you [declared that you were] pleased with [me]./Have you forgotten [that then] you [declared that you were] pleased with [me]?) [RHQ] I can testify that you [would have done anything to help me]. You would have gouged out your eyes [and] given them to me, [if that would have helped me]!
16 Por isso estou muito decepcionado que [agora ]vocês estejam agindo como se [RHQ] eu tivesse me tornado seu inimigo [por continuar ]pregando-lhes a verdadeira [mensagem sobre Cristo].
So I am very disappointed that you [now] act as though [RHQ] I have become hostile to you [because I have kept] speaking the true [message about Christ] to you.
17 Aqueles [que insistem em seguir os regulamentos judaicos se interessam ]zelosamente [por ]vocês, mas [o que eles fazem ]não é bom. Querem até proibir vocês de se associarem [comigo e com outros ]crentes [autênticos], pois desejam que vocês [se interessem ]zelosamente por eles, [não por nós].
Those [who are insisting on obeying Jewish rules] are eagerly [showing interest in] you, but [what they are doing is] not good. They even want you not to associate with [me and other true] believers, because they want you to eagerly show [interest in] them, [not in us].
18 Mas [como ]sempre nos anima ganhar o apreço dos outros, [eu gostaria ]que [vocês ]sempre [me estimem], e não somente quando estou com vocês.
But [just like] it always feels good to have others show that they appreciate you, [I would like you] always [to appreciate me], and not only when I am with you.
19 Vocês [que são como ]meus filhos, [mais uma vez ]me preocupo por vocês [MET] [e continuarei me ]preocupando até que seja desenvolvida exclusiva e [integralmente ]em vocês [a natureza de ]Cristo [MET] como uma criança se desenvolve [no útero da mãe].
You [who are like] my children, [once] again I am very worried/concerned about you [MET], [and I will continue to] be worried/concerned until Christ’s [nature becomes developed] in you [completely and wholeheartedly] [MET] [as a child] becomes developed [in his mother’s womb].
20 Mas desejo fortemente estar agora com vocês, para que possa falar-[lhes mais mansamente], pois não sei [o que fazer ]com relação a vocês [quando estamos afastados uns dos outros].
But I do wish that I could be with you now and that I might talk [more gently with you], because I do not know [what to do about] you [while we are apart].
21 Alguns de vocês desejam [obedecer ]todas as leis que Deus deu a Moisés. Digo: “Vocês [devem ]considerar/Será que vocês consideram— [RHQ] [as implicações daquilo que Moisés escreveu nas ]Escrituras./?
Some of you desire [to obey all the laws] that God gave Moses. [I say that] you [should] consider [RHQ] [the implications of what Moses wrote in] the Scriptures.
22 Está escrito {[Ele ]escreveu} que Abraão se tornou pai de dois filhos. Sua escrava, [Agar], deu à luz um filho, e sua [esposa Sara], que não era escrava, deu à luz ao outro.
[He] wrote that Abraham became the father of two sons. His female slave, [Hagar], bore one son, and his [wife Sarah], who was not a slave, bore the other.
23 Outrossim, [os filhos diferiam um do outro, pois Ismael, filho da ]escrava, nasceu naturalmente, ao passo que [Isaque, filho da ]sua esposa, que não era escrava, nasceu [milagrosamente ]como resultado daquilo que [Deus ]tinha prometido a [Abraão].
Also, [the sons differed. Ishmael], the [son born by] the female slave, was conceived naturally. But [Isaac], the [son born by] his wife who was not a slave, was conceived [miraculously] as a result of what [God] had promised [Abraham].
24 Estas coisas são dadas{[Estou lhes dizendo isto]} como exemplo. Estas [duas mulheres ]simbolizam duas alianças. [Deus fez ]a primeira [aliança, que incluía a obediência às leis que Deus deu a Moisés], no monte [Sinai. Já que aquela aliança obriga os que a aceitam a obedecer todos seus regulamentos ][MET], [é como uma mãe escrava que ]dá à luz filhos escravos. [Portanto], Agar, [a escrava, simboliza ]esta [aliança].
[I am telling you this] as an illustration. These [two women] symbolize two agreements. [God made] the first [agreement, which involved obeying the laws that God gave to Moses] at Sinai Mountain. [Because that agreement forces those who accept it to keep obeying all its rules] [MET], [it is like a slave mother who] gives birth to slaves. [So] Hagar, [the female slave, symbolizes] that [agreement].
25 Também / Até a [palavra ]“Agar” está relacionada [ao ]monte Sinai, [que fica ]na [terra ]da Arábia. [Agar, a escrava, também ]representa [a cidade ]de Jerusalém como ela é hoje em dia. A cidade de Jerusalém é [como ][MET] uma [mãe ]escrava, [e aqueles que moram lá ][PRS] [são como ]seus filhos escravos [MET] [porque todos devem obedecer às leis que Deus deu a Moisés].
Also, the [word] ‘Hagar’ is [associated with] Sinai Mountain, [which is] in Arabia [land. Hagar, the female slave, also] represents Jerusalem as it is today. Jerusalem is [like] [MET] a slave [mother, and those who live there] [PRS] [are like] her slave children [MET] [because they all must obey the laws that God gave to Moses].
26 Mas haverá uma [nova ]Jerusalém no céu [MTY], e nós [que lá iremos ]estamos livres [de ter que obedecer às leis para chegar lá. ]Nós [que estaremos lá a consideramos ]nossa cidade mãe [MET] [porque somos os verdadeiros filhos de Deus. Sara, a esposa que não era escrava, representa aquela nova Jerusalém. ]
But there will be a [new] Jerusalem in heaven [MTY], and we [who will go there] are free [from having to obey Jewish laws]. We [who belong to that city consider it to be] our mother [MET] [city because we are God’s true children].
27 [Estas palavras que ]foram escritas {que Isaías escreveu} [nas Escrituras mostram que é verdade]: [Você ]se regozijará, [mulher ]estéril que não dá à luz filhos [agora]; [você ] não se controlará, mas gritará em voz alta, [você ]que [agora ]não dá à luz os filhos dolorosamente; você estará contente [porque a mulher] [cujo marido ]a abandonou dará à luz mais filhos do que [a mulher ]que tem marido.
[Our new city will have more people than those who live in Jerusalem now. It will be just like] Isaiah foretold about [the people whom he expected would come back to Jerusalem from exile. He expected that they would be more numerous than those who] were taken into exile. He wrote: [You who live in Jerusalem, you will] rejoice! Now you have no children, like a barren [woman] who does not give birth to [children! But some day you will] shout [joyfully], (without restraint/as loudly as you can), [even though now you are few in number, like a woman who] cannot give birth [to children, and you] feel deserted. [You will be very happy] because [you will have many children who will come to you. Those children will be] more than [the children] any woman with a husband [could have borne].
28 Agora, [meus ]irmãos crentes, vocês se tornaram filhos [de Deus como resultado de crermos ]na promessa [de Deus ]dada a nós, como [nasceu ]Isaque [como resultado de Abraão crer naquilo que Deus lhe prometeu ][MET].
Now, [my] fellow believers, you have become children [of God as a result of believing God’s] promise to us, as Isaac [was born as a result of Abraham believing what God promised to him] [MET].
29 [Também, bem como ]—[Ismael, filho de ]Abraão—, aquele que foi concebido naturalmente, —perseguiu/criou problemas para— Isaque, [o filho de Abraão ]que [foi concebido de forma sobrenatural ][MET], assim também [aqueles que acham que devemos obedecer às leis que Deus deu a Moisés para que Deus possa nos salvar estão ]— [perseguindo/criando problemas para— aqueles que confiam em Cristo, descendente de Abraão. ]
[Also, long ago Abraham’s son] Ishmael, the one who was conceived naturally, caused trouble for [Abraham’s son] Isaac, who [was conceived] supernaturally [MET]. Similarly, now [those who think that we must obey the laws that God gave Moses in order that God will save us are causing trouble for those who are trusting Abraham’s descendant, Christ].
30 Mas —são estas as/vocês se lembram das— [RHQ] palavras da Escritura [PRS]: “O filho [da mulher ]que não era escrava herdará [o que seu pai possui]. O filho da escrava com certeza não herdará aquelas coisas. Portanto, mande embora [daqui ]a escrava e seu filho [MET]!” [Isso significa que vocês com certeza devem expulsar dos seus grupos aqueles que insistem em que obedeçamos todas as leis que Deus deu a Moisés ][MET].
But these are [RHQ] the words in the Scriptures [PRS]: “The son of the [woman] who was not a slave will inherit [what his father has]. The female slave’s son will certainly not inherit those things. So send away from [this place] the female slave and her son [MET]!” [That means that you should certainly expel from your groups those who insist that we obey all the laws God gave Moses] [MET].
31 [Meus ]irmãos crentes, [Agar simboliza as leis que Deus deu a Moisés. Mas não somos os que devem obedecer todas as leis que Deus deu a Moisés ][MET]. [Por isso ]não somos [os descendentes espirituais da ]escrava [Agar ][MET]. Mas [os descendentes de Sara são aqueles que nasceram como resultado de crerem naquilo que Deus prometeu a Abraão. Por isso somos ]os descendentes [espirituais de Sara, a mulher ]que não era escrava [MET].
[My] fellow believers, [Hagar symbolizes the laws that God gave to Moses. But we are not those who must obey all the laws that God gave to Moses] [MET]. [So] we are not [the] female slave [Hagar’s spiritual] descendants [MET]. But [Sarah’s descendants are those who were born as a result of believing what God promised to Abraham. So we are] the [spiritual] descendants of [Sarah, the woman] who was not a slave [MET].
