Atos 14

1 E aconteceu em Icônio, que entraram juntos na sinagoga dos judeus, e falaram de tal maneira que creu uma grande multidão, tanto de judeus como de gregos.

And it came to pass in Iconium, that they went both together into the synagogue of the Jews, and so spoke, that a great multitude both of the Jews and also of the Greeks believed.

2 Mas os judeus incrédulos incitaram e irritaram os ânimos dos gentios contra os irmãos.

But the unbelieving Jews stirred up the Gentiles, and made their minds evil affected against the brethren.

3 Então eles ficaram [ali] por muito tempo, falando ousadamente no Senhor, o qual dava testemunho à palavra de sua graça, concedendo [que] sinais e milagres fossem feitos pelas mãos deles.

Long time therefore abode they speaking boldly in the Lord, which gave testimony unto the word (logos) of his grace, and granted signs and wonders to be done by their hands.

4 E a multidão da cidade se dividiu; e uns eram a favor dos judeus, e outros a favor dos apóstolos.

But the multitude of the city was divided: and part held with the Jews, and part with the apostles.

5 E fazendo-se uma rebelião, tanto de judeus como de gentios, juntos com seus líderes, para falarem mal deles, e os apedrejarem.

And when there was an assault made both of the Gentiles, and also of the Jews with their rulers, to use them despitefully, and to stone them,

6 E eles, sabendo [disto], fugiram para as cidades da Licaônia, [chamadas] Listra e Derbe; e à região ao redor.

They were ware of it, and fled unto Lystra and Derbe, cities of Lycaonia, and unto the region that lies round about:

7 E ali eles anunciavam ao Evangelho.

And there they preached the gospel.

8 E um certo homem em Listra estava sentado, tendo incapacidade nos pés, aleijado desde o ventre de sua mãe, que nunca tinha andado.

And there sat a certain man at Lystra, impotent in his feet, being a cripple from his mother's womb, who never had walked:

9 Este ouviu Paulo falando; o qual, olhando com atenção, e vendo que ele tinha fé para ser curado,

The same heard Paul speak: who steadfastly beholding him, and perceiving that he had faith to be healed,

10 Disse em alta voz: Levanta-te direito sobre teus pés. E ele saltou e andou.

Said with a loud voice, Stand upright on your feet. And he leaped and walked.

11 E as multidões, vendo o que Paulo tinha feito, levantaram suas vozes, dizendo em [língua] licaônica: Os deuses se fizeram semelhantes a homens, e desceram até nós.

And when the people saw what Paul had done, they lifted up their voices, saying in the speech of Lycaonia, The gods are come down to us in the likeness of men.

12 E chamaram a Barnabé de Júpiter; e a Paulo, de Mercúrio; porque este era o líder ao falar.

And they called Barnabas, Jupiter; and Paul, Mercurius, because he was the chief speaker. (logos)

13 E o sacerdote de Júpiter, que estava diante da cidade deles, trazendo touros e grinaldas à entrada da porta, ele, junto com as companhias, queria oferecer sacrifício [a eles].

Then the priest of Jupiter, which was before their city, brought oxen and garlands unto the gates, and would have done sacrifice with the people.

14 Mas os apóstolos Barnabé e Paulo, ao ouvirem [isto], rasgaram suas roupas, e saltaram entre a multidão, clamando,

Which when the apostles, Barnabas and Paul, heard of, they rent their clothes, and ran in among the people, crying out,

15 E dizendo: Homens, por que fazeis estais coisas? Também nós somos homens como vós, sujeitos às mesmas emoções; e vos anunciamos o Evangelho para que vos convertais destas vaidades para o Deus vivo, que fez o céu, a terra, o mar, e tudo quanto neles há.

And saying, Sirs, why do all of you these things? We also are men of like passions with you, and preach unto you that all of you should turn from these vanities unto the living God, which made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all things that are therein:

16 O qual nas gerações passadas deixou os os gentios andarem seus [próprios] caminhos.

Who in times past suffered all nations to walk in their own ways.

17 Ainda que, contudo, não tenha deixado a si mesmo sem testemunho, fazendo o bem desde o céu, dando-nos chuvas, e tempos frutíferos, [e] enchendo nossos corações de alimento e alegria.

Nevertheless he left not himself without witness, in that he did good, and gave us rain from heaven, and fruitful seasons, filling our hearts with food and gladness.

18 E tendo disto isto, apenas detiveram as multidões de que não fizessem sacrifícios a eles.

And with these sayings scarce restrained they the people, that they had not done sacrifice unto them.

19 Mas vieram [alguns] judeus de Antioquia, e de Icônio, e persuadiram a multidão; e apedrejando a Paulo, arrastaram [-no] para fora da cidade, pensando que ele estivesse morto.

And there came thither certain Jews from Antioch and Iconium, who persuaded the people, and having stoned Paul, drew him out of the city, supposing he had been dead.

20 Mas, tendo os discípulos ficado ao seu redor, ele se levantou, e entrou na cidade; e no dia seguinte saiu com Barnabé para Derbe.

Nevertheless, as the disciples stood round about him, he rose up, and came into the city: and the next day he departed with Barnabas to Derbe.

21 E tendo anunciado o Evangelho àquela cidade, e feito muitos discípulos, eles voltaram a Listra, e a Icônio, e a Antioquia,

And when they had preached the gospel to that city, and had taught many, they returned again to Lystra, and to Iconium, and Antioch,

22 Confirmando os ânimos dos discípulos, e exortando-os para que permanecessem na fé, e que nos é necessário entrar no Reino de Deus por meio de muitas aflições.

Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.

23 E tendo escolhido por votação anciãos para cada igreja, orando com jejuns, eles foram enviados ao Senhor, no qual tinham crido.

And when they had ordained them elders in every church, and had prayed with fasting, they commended them to the Lord, on whom they believed.

24 E tendo passado por Pisídia, vieram à Panfília.

And after they had passed throughout Pisidia, they came to Pamphylia.

25 E tendo falado a palavra em Perges, desceram a Atália.

And when they had preached the word (logos) in Perga, they went down into Attalia:

26 E dali navegaram para Antioquia, onde tinham sido encomendados à graça de Deus para a obra que eles [já] tinham cumprido.

And thence sailed to Antioch, from whence they had been recommended to the grace of God for the work which they fulfilled.

27 E ao chegarem, e reunirem a igreja, relataram quão grandes coisas Deus tinha feito com eles; e como ele tinha aberto a porta da fé aos gentios.

And when they were come, and had gathered the church together, they rehearsed all that God had done with them, and how he had opened the door of faith unto the Gentiles.

28 E eles ficaram ali não pouco tempo com os discípulos.

And there they abode long time with the disciples.
