1 Pedro 4

1 Visto que Cristo sofreu na carne, armai-vos também com o mesmo modo de pensar, pois quem sofreu na carne terminou com o pecado;

Forasmuch then as Christ has suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin;

2 para que, no resto do tempo na carne, não viva mais segundo os maus desejos humanos, mas sim segundo a vontade de Deus.

That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God.

3 Pois já basta, no tempo passado, termos feito a vontade dos pagãos, e andado em promiscuidades, desejos maliciosos, bebedeiras, orgias, festas de embriaguez, e abomináveis idolatrias.

For the time past of our life may suffice us to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, when we walked in lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine, revellings, banquetings, and abominable idolatries:

4 Como eles estranham vós não agirdes como eles, que correm em busca da extrema devassidão, por isso falam mal de vós.

Wherein they think it strange that all of you run not with them to the same excess of riot, speaking evil of you:

5 Eles terão de prestar contas ao que está pronto para julgar os vivos e os mortos.

Who shall give account (logos) to him that is ready to judge the quick and the dead.

6 Pois por isso o evangelho também foi pregado aos mortos, para que, mesmo que tenham sido julgados na carne segundo os critérios humanos, vivam em espírito segundo os critérios de Deus.

For for this cause was the gospel preached also to them that are dead, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit. (pneuma)

7 O fim de todas as coisas está próximo; portanto sede sóbrios, e vigiai em orações.

But the end of all things is at hand: be all of you therefore sober, and watch unto prayer.

8 Acima de tudo, tende fervoroso amor uns para com os outros; porque o amor cobre uma multidão de pecados.

And above all things have fervent love (agape) among yourselves: for love (agape) shall cover the multitude of sins.

9 Proporcionai hospitalidade uns aos outros, sem murmurações.

Use hospitality one to another without grudging.

10 Cada um sirva aos outros segundo o dom que recebeu, como bons administradores da variada graça de Deus.

As every man has received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.

11 Se alguém fala, que seja como as palavras de Deus; se alguém serve, [que sirva] segundo a força que Deus dá; a fim de que em tudo Deus seja glorificado por meio de Jesus Cristo. E a ele pertencem a glória e o poder para todo o sempre, Amém! (aiōn g165)

If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God gives: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen. (aiōn g165)

12 Amados, não estranheis o fogo ardente que vem sobre vós para vos provar, como se algo estranho estivesse vos acontecendo.

Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you:

13 Em vez disso, alegrai-vos em serdes participantes das aflições de Cristo; para que, também na revelação de sua glória vos alegreis com júbilo.

But rejoice, inasmuch as all of you are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, all of you may be glad also with exceeding joy.

14 Se vós sois insultados por causa do nome de Cristo, benditos sois; porque o Espírito da glória e de Deus repousa sobre vós.

If all of you be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are all of you; for the spirit (pneuma) of glory and of God rests upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified.

15 Porém nenhum de vós sofra como homicida, ladrão, malfeitor, ou como alguém que se intromete em assuntos alheios;

But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evildoer, or as a busybody in other men's matters.

16 Mas se [sofre] como cristão, não se envergonhe; ao contrário, glorifique a Deuscom esse nome;

Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf.

17 Pois já é tempo do julgamento começar pela casa de Deus; e se é primeiro conosco, qual será o fim daqueles que são desobedientes ao Evangelho de Deus?

For the time has come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?

18 E se o justo se salva com dificuldade, em que situação aparecerá o ímpio e pecador?

And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?

19 Portanto, os que sofrem segundo a vontade de Deus, confiem suas almas ao fiel Criador, fazendo o bem.

Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator.
