Romanos 4
1 Que diremos pois ter achado Abrahão, nosso pae segundo a carne?
What then will we say that Avraham, our forefather, has found according to the flesh?
2 Porque, se Abrahão foi justificado pelas obras, tem de que se gloriar, mas não diante de Deus.
For if Avraham was justified by works, he has something to boast about, but not before God.
3 Pois, que diz a Escriptura? Creu Abrahão a Deus, e isso lhe foi imputado como justiça.
For what does the Scripture say? And Avraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness.
4 Ora áquelle que obra não lhe é imputado o galardão segundo a graça, mas segundo a divida.
Now to the one who works, the pay is not counted as a gift, but as an obligation.
5 Porém áquelle que não obra, mas crê n'aquelle que justifica o impio, a sua fé lhe é imputada como justiça.
But to him who does not work, but believes in him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is credited as righteousness.
6 Como tambem David declara bemaventurado o homem a quem Deus imputa a justiça sem as obras, dizendo:
Even as Dawid also pronounces blessing on the one to whom God counts righteousness apart from works,
7 Bemaventurados aquelles cujas maldades são perdoadas, e cujos peccados são cobertos:
"Happy are those whose lawless deeds are forgiven, and whose sins are covered.
8 Bemaventurado o homem a quem o Senhor não imputa o peccado.
Happy is the one whom the Lord will not charge with sin."
9 Vem pois esta bemaventurança sobre a circumcisão só, ou tambem sobre a incircumcisão? Porque dizemos que a fé foi imputada como justiça a Abrahão.
Is this blessing then pronounced on the circumcised, or on the uncircumcised also? For we say that faith was credited to Avraham as righteousness.
10 Como lhe foi pois imputada? Estando na circumcisão ou na incircumcisão? Não na circumcisão, mas na incircumcisão.
How then was it credited? When he was in circumcision, or in uncircumcision? Not in circumcision, but in uncircumcision.
11 E recebeu o signal da circumcisão, sello da justiça da fé que teve na incircumcisão, para que fosse pae de todos os que crêem, estando na incircumcisão; a fim de que tambem a justiça lhes seja imputada:
He received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith which he had while he was in uncircumcision, so that he might be the father of all those who believe, though they be in uncircumcision, that righteousness might also be credited to them.
12 E fosse pae da circumcisão, d'aquelles que não sómente são da circumcisão, mas que tambem andam nas pisadas da fé de nosso pae Abrahão, que tivera na incircumcisão.
The father of circumcision to those who not only are of the circumcision, but who also walk in the steps of that faith of our father Avraham, which he had in uncircumcision.
13 Porque a promessa de que havia de ser herdeiro do mundo não foi feita pela lei a Abrahão, ou á sua posteridade, mas pela justiça da fé.
For the promise to Avraham and to his descendants that he should be heir of the world was not through the law, but through the righteousness of faith.
14 Porque, se os que são da lei são herdeiros, logo a fé é vã e a promessa é aniquilada.
For if those who are of the law are heirs, faith is made void, and the promise is made of no effect.
15 Porque a lei obra a ira. Porque onde não ha lei tambem não ha transgressão.
For the law works wrath, for where there is no law, neither is there disobedience.
16 Portanto é pela fé, para que seja segundo a graça, a fim de que a promessa seja firme a toda a posteridade, não sómente á que é da lei, mas tambem á que é da fé de Abrahão, o qual é pae de todos nós;
For this cause it is of faith, that it may be according to grace, to the end that the promise may be sure to all the descendants, not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Avraham, who is the father of us all.
17 (Como está escripto: Por pae de muitas nações te constitui) perante aquelle no qual creu, a saber, Deus, o qual vivifica os mortos, e chama as coisas que não são como se já fossem.
As it is written, "I have made you a father of many nations." This is in the presence of him whom he believed: God, who gives life to the dead, and calls the things that are not, as though they were.
18 O qual, em esperança, creu contra a esperança, que seria feito pae de muitas nações, conforme o que lhe fôra dito: Assim será a tua descendencia.
Who hoped in spite of hopeless circumstances, with the result that he might become the father of many nations, according to that which had been spoken, "so will your descendants be."
19 E não enfraqueceu na fé, nem attentou para o seu proprio corpo já amortecido, pois era já de quasi cem annos, nem tão pouco para o amortecimento do ventre de Sarah.
And not being weak in faith, he considered his own body, which was as good as dead (he being about a hundred years old), and the deadness of Sarah's womb.
20 E não duvidou da promessa de Deus por desconfiança, mas foi fortificado na fé, dando gloria a Deus;
Yet, looking to the promise of God, he did not waver through unbelief, but grew strong through faith, giving glory to God,
21 E estando certissimo de que o que elle tinha promettido tambem era poderoso para o fazer.
and being fully assured that what he had promised, he was able also to perform.
22 Pelo que isso lhe foi tambem imputado como justiça.
And therefore "it was credited to him as righteousness."
23 Ora não só por elle está escripto, que lhe fosse imputado,
Now it was not written that it was credited to him for his sake alone,
24 Mas tambem por nós, a quem será imputado, os que cremos n'aquelle que dos mortos resuscitou a Jesus nosso Senhor;
but for our sake also, to whom it will be credited, who believe in him who raised Yeshua our Lord from the dead,
25 O qual por nossos peccados foi entregue, e resuscitou para nossa justificação.
who was delivered up for our trespasses, and was raised for our justification.
