نحمیا 6

۱ 1 بازسازی حصار و چون سنبلط و طوبیا و جشم عربی و سایر دشمنان ما شنیدند که حصار را بناکرده‌ام و هیچ رخنه‌ای در آن باقی نمانده است، باآنکه درهای دروازه هایش را هنوز برپا ننموده بودم،

And it came to pass, when it was reported to Sanballat and Tobiah and to Geshem the Arabian and to the rest of our enemies, that I had built the wall, and there was left therein no breach, —though, up to that time, the doors, had I not set up in the gates,

۲ 2 سنبلط و جشم نزد من فرستاده، گفتند: «بیاتا در یکی از دهات بیابان اونو ملاقات کنیم.» اماایشان قصد ضرر من داشتند.

that Sanballat and Geshem sent unto me, saying, Come! and let us meet together in the villages, in the valley of Ono, —But, they, were plotting to do me harm.

۳ 3 پس قاصدان نزد ایشان فرستاده گفتم: «من درمهم عظیمی مشغولم و نمی توانم فرود آیم، چراکار حینی که من آن را ترک کرده، نزد شما فرودآیم به تعویق افتد.»

So I sent unto them messengers, saying, A great work, am, I, doing, and cannot come down, —wherefore should the work cease whilst I leave it, and come down unto you?

۴ 4 و ایشان چهار دفعه مثل این پیغام به من فرستادند و من مثل این جواب به ایشان پس فرستادم.

Yet they sent unto me, according to this message, four times, —and I replied to them according to this answer.

۵ 5 پس سنبلط دفعه پنجم خادم خود رابه همین طور نزد من فرستاد و مکتوبی گشوده دردستش بود،

Then Sanballat sent unto me, according to this message, a fifth time, by his young man, —with an open letter, in his hand:

۶ 6 که در آن مرقوم بود: «در میان امت‌ها شهرت یافته است و جشم این را می‌گویدکه تو و یهود قصد فتنه انگیزی دارید و برای همین حصار را بنا می‌کنی و تو بروفق این کلام، می‌خواهی که پادشاه ایشان بشوی.

wherein was written—Among the nations, it is reported, and, Gashmu, saith it, that, thou and the Jews, are plotting to rebel, for which cause, thou art building the wall, —and, thou, art to become their king, according to these words.

۷ 7 و انبیا نیزتعیین نموده تا درباره تو در اورشلیم ندا کرده گویند که در یهودا پادشاهی است. و حال بروفق این کلام، خبر به پادشاه خواهد رسید. پس بیا تا باهم مشورت نماییم.»

Moreover also, prophets, hast thou set up to make proclamation concerning thee in Jerusalem, saying, He hath become king in Judah! Now, therefore, will it he reported to the king, according to these words. Now, therefore, come, and let us take counsel together.

۸ 8 آنگاه نزد او فرستاده گفتم: «مثل این کلام که تو می‌گویی واقع نشده است، بلکه آن را از دل خود ابداع نموده‌ای.»

Then sent I unto him, saying, Nothing hath been done, according to these words, which thou art saying, —but, out of thine own heart, art thou feigning them.

۹ 9 زیرا جمیع ایشان خواستند ما را بترسانند، به این قصد که دستهای ما را از کار باز دارند تا کرده نشود. پس حال‌ای خدا دستهای مرا قوی ساز.

For, they all, were seeking to put us in fear, saying, Their hands will slacken from the work, and it will not be accomplished. Now, therefore, strengthen thou my hands!

۱۰ 10 و به خانه شمعیا ابن دلایا ابن مهیطبئیل رفتم و او در را بر خود بسته بود، پس گفت: «در خانه خدا در هیکل جمع شویم و درهای هیکل راببندیم زیرا که به قصد کشتن تو خواهند آمد. شبانگاه برای کشتن تو خواهند آمد.»

When, I, came into the house of Shemaiah, son of Delaiah, son of Mehetabel, he, being shut in, he said, Let us meet together in the house of God, in the midst of the temple, and let us close the doors of the temple, for they are coming to slay thee, yea, by night, are they coming to slay thee.

۱۱ 11 من گفتم: «آیا مردی چون من فرار بکند؟ وکیست مثل من که داخل هیکل بشود تا جان خودرا زنده نگاه دارد؟ من نخواهم آمد.»

Then said I, Should, such a man as I, flee? Who then, being such as I, would enter the temple to save his life? I will not enter.

۱۲ 12 زیرا درک کردم که خدا او را هرگز نفرستاده است بلکه خودش به ضد من نبوت می‌کند و طوبیا و سنبلطاو را اجیر ساخته‌اند.

Then perceived I, that lo! it was, not God, who had sent him, —though, a prophecy, he had spoken concerning me, but, Tobiah and Sanballat, had hired him:

۱۳ 13 و از این جهت او را اجیرکرده‌اند تا من بترسم و به اینطور عمل نموده، گناه ورزم و ایشان خبر بد پیدا نمایند که مرا مفتضح سازند.

to this end, hired, he was, to the end that I might be afraid and do so, and might sin, —and it might serve them for an evil report, to the end they might bring reproach upon me.

۱۴ 14 ‌ای خدایم، طوبیا و سنبلط را موافق این اعمال ایشان و همچنین نوعدیه نبیه و سایر انبیا راکه می‌خواهند مرا بترسانند، به یاد آور.

Have remembrance, O my God, of Tobiah and of Sanballat, according to these their doings, —moreover also, of Noadiah the prophetess, and of the rest of the prophets, who would have put me in fear.

۱۵ 15 پس حصار در بیست و پنجم ماه ایلول درپنجاه و دو روز به اتمام رسید.

So the wall was finished, on the twenty-fifth of Elul, —in fifty-two days.

۱۶ 16 و واقع شد که چون جمیع دشمنان ما این را شنیدند و همه امت هایی که مجاور ما بودند، این را دیدند، درنظر خود بسیار پست شدند و دانستند که این کاراز جانب خدای ما معمول شده است.

And it came to pass, when all our enemies heard, and all the nations that were round about us saw, that they fell greatly in their own eyes, and took knowledge that, from God, had this work been wrought.

۱۷ 17 و در آن روزها نیز بسیاری از بزرگان یهودا مکتوبات نزد طوبیا می‌فرستادند و مکتوبات طوبیا نزد ایشان می‌رسید،

Moreover, in those days, were the nobles of Judah busy with their letters which were going unto Tobiah, —and those of Tobiah were coming unto them;

۱۸ 18 زیرا که بسا از اهل یهودا با اوهمداستان شده بودند، چونکه او داماد شکنیا ابن آره بود و پسرش یهوحانان، دختر مشلام بن برکیارا به زنی گرفته بود،

for, many in Judah, had taken an oath to him, because he was in marriage affinity with Shecaniah son of Arah, —and, Jehohanan his son, had taken the daughter of Meshullam, son of Berechiah.

۱۹ 19 و درباره حسنات او به حضور من نیز گفتگو می‌کردند و سخنان مرا به اومی رسانیدند. و طوبیا مکتوبات می‌فرستاد تا مرابترساند.

Moreover, his good deeds, were they telling before me, and, my affairs, were they carrying out to him, —letters, did Tobiah send to put me in fear.
