ایّوب 17

۱ 1 «روح من تلف شده، و روزهایم تمام گردیده، و قبر برای من حاضر است.

My breath is exhausted; My days are at an end; The grave is ready for me.

۲ 2 به درستی که استهزاکنندگان نزد منند، و چشم من در منازعت ایشان دائم می‌ماند.

Are not revilers before me? And doth not my eye dwell upon their provocations?

۳ 3 الان گرو بده و به جهت من نزد خود ضامن باش. والا کیست که به من دست دهد؟

Give a pledge, I pray thee; be thou a surety for me with thee; Who is he that will strike hands with me?

۴ 4 چونکه دل ایشان را از حکمت منع کرده‌ای، بنابراین ایشان را بلند نخواهی ساخت.

Behold, thou hast blinded their understanding; Therefore thou wilt not suffer them to prevail.

۵ 5 کسی‌که دوستان خود را به تاراج تسلیم کند، چشمان فرزندانش تار خواهد شد.

He who delivereth up his friends as a prey, —The eyes of his children shall fail.

۶ 6 مرا نزدامت‌ها مثل ساخته است، و مثل کسی‌که بر رویش آب دهان اندازند شده‌ام.

He made me the by-word of the people; Yea, I have become their abhorrence.

۷ 7 چشم من از غصه کاهیده شده است، و تمامی اعضایم مثل سایه گردیده.

My eye therefore is dim with sorrow, And all my limbs are as a shadow.

۸ 8 راستان به‌سبب این، حیران می‌مانند وصالحان خویشتن را بر ریاکاران برمی انگیزانند.

Upright men will be astonished at this, And the innocent will rouse themselves against the wicked.

۹ 9 لیکن مرد عادل به طریق خود متمسک می‌شود، و کسی‌که دست پاک دارد، در قوت ترقی خواهدنمود.

The righteous will also hold on his way, And he that hath clean hands will gather strength.

۱۰ 10 «اما همه شما برگشته، الان بیایید و در میان شما حکیمی نخواهم یافت.

But as for you all, return, I pray! I find not yet among you one wise man.

۱۱ 11 روزهای من گذشته، و قصدهای من و فکرهای دلم منقطع شده است.

My days are at an end; My plans are broken off; Even the treasures of my heart.

۱۲ 12 شب را به روز تبدیل می‌کنند و باوجود تاریکی می‌گویند روشنایی نزدیک است.

Night hath become day to me; The light bordereth on darkness.

۱۳ 13 وقتی که امید دارم هاویه خانه من می‌باشد، وبستر خود را در تاریکی می‌گسترانم، (Sheol h7585)

Yea, I look to the grave as my home; I have made my bed in darkness. (Sheol h7585)

۱۴ 14 و به هلاکت می‌گویم تو پدر من هستی و به کرم که تومادر و خواهر من می‌باشی.

I say to the pit, Thou art my father! And to the worm, My mother! and, My sister!

۱۵ 15 پس امید من کجااست؟ و کیست که امید مرا خواهد دید؟

Where then is my hope? Yea, my hope, who shall see it?

۱۶ 16 تابندهای هاویه فرو می‌رود، هنگامی که با هم درخاک نزول (نماییم ).» (Sheol h7585)

It must go down to the bars of the under-world, As soon as there is rest for me in the dust. (Sheol h7585)
