اشعیا 18

۱ 1 وای بر زمینی که در آن آواز بالها است که به آن طرف نهرهای کوش می‌باشد.

Ho! thou land of the buzzing of wings, —Which is beyond the rivers of Ethiopia:

۲ 2 و ایلچیان به دریا و در کشتیهای بردی بر روی آبها می‌فرستد و می‌گوید: ای رسولان تیزروبروید نزد امت بلند قد و براق، نزد قومی که ازابتدایش تا کنون مهیب بوده‌اند یعنی امت زورآورو پایمال کننده که نهرها زمین ایشان را تقسیم می‌کند.

That sendeth by the sea, ambassadors Even in vessels of paper-reed, upon the face of the waters, —Go ye swift messengers Unto a nation drawn out and polished, Unto a people terrible from their beginning and onwards, —A nation most mighty and subduing, Whose land rivers have cut through.

۳ 3 ‌ای تمامی ساکنان ربع مسکون و سکنه جهان، چون علمی بر کوهها بلند گردد بنگرید وچون کرنا نواخته شود بشنوید.

All ye inhabitants of the world And ye, that dwell in the earth, —When there is lifted up an ensign on the mountains, Ye shall look, And when there is blown a horn, Ye shall hearken.

۴ 4 زیرا خداوند به من چنین گفته است که من خواهم آرامید و ازمکان خود نظر خواهم نمود. مثل گرمای صاف برنباتات و مثل ابر شبنم دار در حرارت حصاد.

For, thus, said Yahweh unto me, —I must be quiet I must look on in my fixed place of abode, —Like a bright heat on the light, Like a cloud of dew in the heat of harvest.

۵ 5 زیرا قبل از حصاد وقتی که شکوفه تمام شود وگل به انگور رسیده، مبدل گردد او شاخه‌ها را بااره‌ها خواهد برید و نهالها را بریده دور خواهدافکند.

For before harvest, when the bud is perfect, And, the blossom, becometh a ripening grape, Then will one cut down the twigs with pruning-hooks, And the tendrils, will he remove [and] cast down:

۶ 6 و همه برای مرغان شکاری کوهها ووحوش زمین واگذاشته خواهد شد. و مرغان شکاری تابستان را بر آنها بسر خواهند برد وجمیع وحوش زمین زمستان را بر آنها خواهندگذرانید.

They shall be left together. To the ravenous birds, of the mountains, And to the beast of the earth, —Then shall the ravenous bird, summer upon them, And, every beast of the earth, upon them, shall winter.

۷ 7 و در آن زمان هدیه‌ای برای یهوه صبایوت از قوم بلند قد و براق و از قومی که ازابتدایش تا کنون مهیب است و از امتی زورآور وپایمال کننده که نهرها زمین ایشان را تقسیم می‌کند به مکان اسم یهوه صبایوت یعنی به کوه صهیون آورده خواهد شد.

In that time, shall there be borne along. As a present unto Yahweh of hosts A people drawn out and polished, Even from a people terrible from their beginning and onwards, —nation most mighty and subduing Whose land rivers, have cut through, Unto the place of the Name of Yahweh of hosts. Mount Zion.
