ارمیا 1

۱ 1 کلام ارمیا ابن حلقیا از کاهنانی که درعناتوت در زمین بنیامین بودند.

The words of Jeremiah son of Hilkiah, —of the priests who were in Anathoth, in the land of Benjamin:

۲ 2 که کلام خداوند در ایام یوشیا ابن آمون پادشاه یهودا درسال سیزدهم از سلطنت او بر وی نازل شد.

unto whom came the word of Yahweh, in the days of Josiah son of Amon king of Judah, —in the thirteenth year of his reign;

۳ 3 و درایام یهویاقیم بن یوشیا پادشاه یهودا تا آخر سال یازدهم صدقیا ابن یوشیا پادشاه یهودا نازل می‌شد تا زمانی که اورشلیم در ماه پنجم به اسیری برده شد.

it came also in the days of Jehoiakim son of Josiah, king of Judah, unto the end of the eleventh year of Zedekiah son of Josiah king of Judah, —as far as the carrying away of Jerusalem captive, in the fifth month.

۴ 4 پس کلام خداوند بر من نازل شده، گفت:

So then, the word of Yahweh came unto me, saying:

۵ 5 «قبل از آنکه تو را در شکم صورت بندم تو راشناختم و قبل از بیرون آمدنت از رحم تو راتقدیس نمودم و تو را نبی امت‌ها قرار دادم.»

Before I formed thee at thy birth, I took knowledge of thee, And before thy nativity, I hallowed thee, —A prophet to the nations, I appointed thee.

۶ 6 پس گفتم: «آه‌ای خداوند یهوه اینک من تکلم کردن را نمی دانم چونکه طفل هستم.»

Then said I—Ah! My Lord Yahweh! Lo! I know not how to speak, —For a child, am I!

۷ 7 اماخداوند مرا گفت: «مگو من طفل هستم، زیرا هرجایی که تو را بفرستم خواهی رفت و بهر‌چه تورا امر فرمایم تکلم خواهی نمود.

Then said Yahweh unto me, Do not say, A child, am, I,—For against whomsoever I send thee, shalt thou go, And whatsoever I command thee, shalt thou speak:

۸ 8 از ایشان مترس زیرا خداوند می‌گوید: من با تو هستم و تورا رهایی خواهم داد.»

Be not afraid of their faces, For with thee, am I, to deliver thee Declareth Yahweh.

۹ 9 آنگاه خداوند دست خود را دراز کرده، دهان مرا لمس کرد و خداوندبه من گفت: «اینک کلام خود را در دهان تو نهادم.

Then Yahweh put forth his hand, and touched my mouth, —and Yahweh said unto me, Lo! I have put my words in thy mouth.

۱۰ 10 بدان که تو را امروز بر امت‌ها و ممالک مبعوث کردم تا از ریشه برکنی و منهدم سازی و هلاک کنی و خراب نمایی و بنا نمایی و غرس کنی.»

See! I have set thee in charge this day, over the nations and over the kingdoms, To uproot and to break down, and to destroy and to tear in pieces, —To build and to plant.

۱۱ 11 پس کلام خداوند بر من نازل شده، گفت: «ای ارمیا چه می‌بینی؟ گفتم: «شاخه‌ای از درخت بادام می‌بینم.»

Moreover the Word of Yahweh came unto me saying, What canst thou see Jeremiah? And I said, A twig of an almond-tree, can I see.

۱۲ 12 خداوند مرا گفت: «نیکو دیدی زیرا که من بر کلام خود دیده بانی می‌کنم تا آن رابه انجام رسانم.»

Then said Yahweh unto me—Thou hast rightly seen, —for keeping watch, am I over my word to perform it.

۱۳ 13 پس کلام خداوند بار دیگر به من رسیده، گفت: «چه چیز می‌بینی؟» گفتم: «دیگی جوشنده می‌بینم که رویش از طرف شمال است.»

And the word of Yahweh came unto me a second time saying, What canst thou see? And I said, A boiling caldron, can I see, with, the front thereof, on the North.

۱۴ 14 و خداوند مرا گفت: «بلایی از طرف شمال بر جمیع سکنه این زمین منبسط خواهدشد.

Then said Yahweh unto me, —Out of the North, shall break forth calamity, against all the inhabitants of the land.

۱۵ 15 زیرا خداوند می‌گوید اینک من جمیع قبایل ممالک شمالی را خواهم خواند و ایشان آمده، هر کس کرسی خود را در دهنه دروازه اورشلیم و بر تمامی حصارهایش گرداگرد و به ضد تمامی شهرهای یهودا برپا خواهد داشت.

For behold me! calling for all the families of the kingdoms of the North, Declareth Yahweh, —and they shall come, and set every one his throne at the opening of the gates of Jerusalem and against all her walls round about, and against all the cities of Judah!

۱۶ 16 و بر ایشان احکام خود را درباره همه شرارتشان جاری خواهم ساخت چونکه مرا ترک کردند و برای خدایان غیر بخور‌سوزانیدند واعمال دستهای خود را سجده نمودند.

Then will I pronounce my judgments against them, concerning all their wickedness, —in that they have forsaken me and have burned incense unto other gods, and have bowed down to the works of their own hands,

۱۷ 17 پس توکمر خود را ببند و برخاسته، هر‌آنچه را من به توامر فرمایم به ایشان بگو و از ایشان هراسان مباش، مبادا تو را پیش روی ایشان مشوش سازم.

Thou, therefore, shalt gird thy loins, and arise, and speak unto them, all that, I, command thee, —be not dismayed because of them, lest I dismay thee before their face.

۱۸ 18 زیرااینک من تو را امروز شهر حصاردار و ستون آهنین و حصارهای برنجین به ضد تمامی زمین برای پادشاهان یهودا و سروران و کاهنانش و قوم زمین ساختم.

I, therefore—lo! I have set thee to-day as a fortified city, and as a pillar of iron and as walls of bronze, over all the land, —against the kings of Judah, against her princes, against her priests and against the people of the land.

۱۹ 19 و ایشان با تو جنگ خواهند کرداما بر تو غالب نخواهند آمد، زیرا خداوند می گوید: من با تو هستم و تو را رهایی خواهم داد.»

And they will fight against thee but shall not prevail against thee, —for with thee, am I, Declareth Yahweh, to deliver thee.

The Prophet Jeremiah
