1 Ein song, ein salme; av Korahs born. Stor er Herren og høglova i vår Guds by, på hans heilage fjell.
[A Song. A Psalm by the sons of Korah.] Great is YHWH, and greatly to be praised, in the city of our God, in his holy mountain.
2 Fager i si høgd, ein fagnad for all jordi er Sions fjell, utkanten av nordheimen, staden til den store kongen.
Beautiful in elevation, the joy of the whole earth, is Mount Zion, in the far north, the city of the great King.
3 Gud er i hans hallar kjend som ei fast borg.
God has shown himself in her citadels as a refuge.
4 For sjå, kongarne kom saman og drog fram i lag.
For, look, the kings assembled themselves, they passed by together.
5 Dei såg - so vart dei forfærde, dei vart vitskræmde, flydde i bråhast.
They saw it, then they were amazed. They were dismayed. They hurried away.
6 Ein skjelv greip deim der, ei bivring som hjå ei barnsjuk kvinna.
Trembling took hold of them there, pain, as of a woman in travail.
7 Med austanvind bryt du sund Tarsis-skip.
With the east wind, you break the ships of Tarshish.
8 Liksom me hev høyrt, so hev me no set det i Herren, allhers drotts by, i vår Guds by, Gud gjer honom fast til æveleg tid. (Sela)
As we have heard, so we have seen, in the city of YHWH of hosts, in the city of our God. God will establish it forever. (Selah)
9 Me grundar på din nåde, Gud, midt i ditt tempel.
We have thought about your loving kindness, God, in the midst of your temple.
10 Som ditt namn, Gud, so er din pris alt til endarne av jordi; di høgre hand er full av rettferd.
As is your name, God, so is your praise to the farthest parts of the earth. Your right hand is full of righteousness.
11 Sionsfjellet gled seg, Juda døtter fagnar seg yver dine domar.
Let Mount Zion be glad. Let the daughters of Judah rejoice, Because of your judgments.
12 Gakk ikring Sion, far rundt um henne, tel hennar tårn!
Walk about Zion, and go around her. Number its towers.
13 Legg merke til hennar vollar, gakk igjenom hennar hallar, so de kann fortelja um det til den komande ætt.
Consider her defenses. Consider her palaces, that you may tell it to the next generation.
14 For denne Gud er vår Gud æveleg og alltid; han skal føra oss ut yver dauden.
For this God is our God forever and ever. He will guide us forever.
