That same day, when Jesus had left the house and was sitting by the sea,
2 ൨ വളരെ പുരുഷാരം അവന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വന്നുകൂടിയതുകൊണ്ട് അവൻ പടകിൽ കയറി ഇരുന്നു; പുരുഷാരം എല്ലാം കരയിൽ നിന്നു.
such great crowds gathered round him, that he got into a boat, and sat in it, while all the people stood on the beach.
3 ൩ അവൻ അവരോട് പലതും ഉപമകളിലൂടെ പ്രസ്താവിച്ചതെന്തെന്നാൽ: ഇതാ വിതയ്ക്കുന്ന ഒരുവൻ വിതയ്ക്കുവാൻ പുറപ്പെട്ടു.
Then he told them many truths in parables. ‘The sower,’ he began, ‘went out to sow; and,
as they were sowing, some seed fell along the path, and the birds came and ate it up.
5 ൫ ചിലത് പാറസ്ഥലത്ത് ഏറെ മണ്ണില്ലാത്ത ഇടത്ത് വീണു; മണ്ണിന് താഴ്ചയില്ലായ്കയാൽ ക്ഷണത്തിൽ മുളച്ചുവന്നു.
Some fell on rocky places, where it had not much soil, and, because the soil wasn’t deep, sprang up at once.
As soon as the sun had risen, it was scorched, and, because their roots were not deep enough, withered away.
Some, again, fell into the brambles; but the brambles shot up and choked it.
Some, however, fell on good soil, and yielded a return, sometimes one hundred, sometimes sixty, sometimes thirty fold.
Let those who have ears hear.’
10 ൧൦ പിന്നെ ശിഷ്യന്മാർ യേശുവിന്റെ അടുക്കൽവന്ന്: പുരുഷാരത്തോട് ഉപമകളായി സംസാരിക്കുന്നത് എന്തുകൊണ്ട് എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.
Afterwards his disciples came to him, and said, ‘Why do you speak to them in parables?’
11 ൧൧ അവൻ അവരോട് ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞത്: സ്വർഗ്ഗരാജ്യത്തിന്റെ മർമ്മങ്ങളെ അറിയുവാനുള്ള പദവി നിങ്ങൾക്ക് ലഭിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; ഇവർക്കോ ലഭിച്ചിട്ടില്ല.
‘To you,’ answered Jesus, ‘the knowledge of the hidden truths of the kingdom of heaven has been imparted, but not to those.
12 ൧൨ ആകയാൽ ഉള്ളവന് അധികം കൊടുക്കും; അവന് സമൃദ്ധിയുണ്ടാകും; ഇല്ലാത്തവനോടോ അവനുള്ളതും കൂടെ എടുത്തുകളയും.
For, to all who have, more will be given, and they will have abundance; but, from all who have nothing, even what they have will be taken away.
13 ൧൩ അതുകൊണ്ട് അവർ കാണുന്നു എങ്കിലും ഉള്ളതുപോലെ കാണാതെയും കേൾക്കുന്നു എങ്കിലും ഉള്ളതുപോലെ കേൾക്കാതെയും ഉള്ളതുപോലെ ഗ്രഹിക്കാതെയും ഇരിക്കയാൽ ഞാൻ ഉപമകളായി അവരോട് സംസാരിക്കുന്നു.
That is why I speak to them in parables, because, though they have eyes, they do not see, and though they have ears, they do not hear or understand.
14 ൧൪ “നിങ്ങൾ കേട്ടുകൊണ്ടേയിരിക്കും, എന്നാൽ ഒരുവിധത്തിലും ഗ്രഹിക്കയില്ലതാനും; കണ്ടുകൊണ്ടേയിരിക്കും, എന്നാൽ ഒരുവിധത്തിലും മനസ്സിലാക്കുകയില്ലതാനും; ഈ ജനത്തിന്റെ ഹൃദയം മങ്ങിപ്പോയിരിക്കുന്നു; അവരുടെ ചെവി കേൾവിനിമിത്തം ഭാരമായിരിക്കുന്നു; അവരുടെ കണ്ണ് അവർ അടച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; അവർ കണ്ണ് കാണാതെയും ചെവി കേൾക്കാതെയും ഹൃദയംകൊണ്ട് ഗ്രഹിക്കാതെയും ഞാൻ അവരെ രൂപാന്തരപ്പെടുത്താതെയും സൗഖ്യമാക്കാതെയും ഇരിക്കേണ്ടതിനുതന്നെ”
In them is being fulfilled that prophecy of Isaiah which says – “You will hear with your ears without ever understanding, and, though you have eyes, you will see without ever perceiving,
for the mind of this nation has grown dense, and their ears are dull of hearing, their eyes also have they closed; otherwise some day they might perceive with their eyes, and with their ears they might hear, and in their mind they might understand, and might turn – and I might heal them.”
‘But blessed are your eyes, for they see, and your ears, for they hear;
17 ൧൭ ഏറിയ പ്രവാചകന്മാരും നീതിമാന്മാരും നിങ്ങൾ കാണുന്നത് കാണ്മാൻ ആഗ്രഹിച്ചിട്ട് കണ്ടില്ല; നിങ്ങൾ കേൾക്കുന്നത് കേൾക്കുവാൻ ആഗ്രഹിച്ചിട്ടും കേട്ടില്ല എന്നു ഞാൻ സത്യമായിട്ട് നിങ്ങളോടു പറയുന്നു.
for I tell you that many prophets and good people have longed for the sight of the things which you are seeing, yet never saw them, and to hear the things which you are hearing, yet never heard them.
‘Listen, then, yourselves to the parable of the sower.
19 ൧൯ ഒരുവൻ രാജ്യത്തിന്റെ വചനം കേട്ടിട്ട് മനസ്സിലാക്കാതെ ഇരുന്നാൽ ദുഷ്ടൻ വന്നു അവന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തിൽ വിതയ്ക്കപ്പെട്ടത് റാഞ്ചിക്കൊണ്ടുപോകുന്നു; ഇതത്രെ വഴിയരികെ വിതയ്ക്കപ്പെട്ടത്.
When anyone hears the message of the kingdom without understanding it, the evil one comes and snatches away what has been sown in their mind. This is the person meant by the seed which was sown along the path.
20 ൨൦ പാറസ്ഥലത്ത് വിതയ്ക്കപ്പെട്ടതോ, ഒരുവൻ വചനം കേട്ടിട്ട് ഉടനെ സന്തോഷത്തോടെ കൈക്കൊള്ളുന്നു എങ്കിലും തന്നിൽ തന്നെ വേരില്ലാതിരിക്കയാൽ അവന്റെ നിലനില്പ് ക്ഷണികമത്രേ.
By the seed which was sown on rocky places is meant the person who hears the message, and at once accepts it joyfully;
but, as they have no root, they stand for only a short time; and, when trouble or persecution arises because of the message, they fall away at once.
22 ൨൨ മുൾച്ചെടികൾക്കിടയിൽ വിതയ്ക്കപ്പെട്ടതോ, ഒരുവൻ വചനം കേൾക്കുന്നു എങ്കിലും ഈ ലോകത്തിന്റെ ചിന്തയും ധനത്തിന്റെ വഞ്ചനയും വചനത്തെ ഞെരുക്കീട്ട് ഫലമില്ലാത്തവനായി തീരുന്നതാകുന്നു. (aiōn g165)
By the seed which was sown among the brambles is meant the person who hears the message, but the cares of life and the glamour of wealth completely choke the message, so that it gives no return. (aiōn g165)
23 ൨൩ നല്ല നിലത്തു വിതയ്ക്കപ്പെട്ടതോ ഒരുവൻ വചനം കേട്ട് മനസ്സിലാക്കുന്നത് ആകുന്നു; അവൻ വാസ്തവമായി ഫലം നൽകുന്നവനും വർദ്ധിപ്പിക്കുന്നവനും ആകുന്നു; ചിലർ നൂറുമേനിയും അതിലധികവും, മറ്റുചിലർ അറുപതും മുപ്പതും മേനിയും വിളയിപ്പിക്കുന്നു.
But by the seed which was sown on the good ground is meant the person who hears the message and understands it, and really yields a return, sometimes one hundred, sometimes sixty, sometimes thirty fold.’
24 ൨൪ അവൻ മറ്റൊരു ഉപമ അവർക്ക് പറഞ്ഞു കൊടുത്തു: സ്വർഗ്ഗരാജ്യം ഒരു മനുഷ്യൻ തന്റെ കൃഷിസ്ഥലത്ത് നല്ലവിത്ത് വിതച്ചതിനോട് സദൃശമാകുന്നു.
Another parable which Jesus told them was this – ‘The kingdom of heaven is compared to a person who sowed good seed in their field.
But, while everyone was asleep, their enemy came and sowed weeds among the wheat, and then went away.
So, when the blades of corn shot up, and came into ear, the weeds made their appearance also.
27 ൨൭ അപ്പോൾ ഭൂവുടയവന്റെ ദാസന്മാർ അവന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ചെന്ന്: യജമാനനേ, അങ്ങ് വയലിൽ നല്ലവിത്തല്ലയോ വിതച്ചത്? പിന്നെ കള എവിടെനിന്ന് വന്നു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.
The owner’s servants came to them, and said “Was not it good seed that you sowed in your field? Where, then, do the weeds in it come from?”
28 ൨൮ ഇതു ശത്രു ചെയ്തതാകുന്നു എന്നു അവൻ അവരോട് പറഞ്ഞു. ഞങ്ങൾ പോയി അത് പറിച്ചുകളയുവാൻ സമ്മതമുണ്ടോ എന്നു ദാസന്മാർ അവനോട് ചോദിച്ചു.
“An enemy has done this,” was the owner’s answer. “Do you wish us, then,” they asked, “to go and gather them together?”
“No,” said he, “because while you are pulling up the weeds you might uproot the wheat with them.
30 ൩൦ രണ്ടുംകൂടെ കൊയ്ത്തുവരെ വളരട്ടെ; കൊയ്ത്ത് കാലത്ത് ഞാൻ കൊയ്യുന്നവരോട് മുമ്പെ കള പറിച്ചുകൂട്ടി ചുട്ടുകളയേണ്ടതിന് കെട്ടുകളായി കെട്ടുവാനും ഗോതമ്പു എന്റെ കളപ്പുരയിൽ കൂട്ടിവയ്ക്കുവാനും കല്പിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
Let both grow side by side until harvest; and then I will say to the reapers, Gather the weeds together first, and tie them in bundles for burning; but bring all the wheat into my barn.”’
31 ൩൧ മറ്റൊരു ഉപമ അവൻ അവർക്ക് പറഞ്ഞു കൊടുത്തു: സ്വർഗ്ഗരാജ്യം ഒരു മനുഷ്യൻ എടുത്തു തന്റെ വയലിൽ വിതച്ച കടുകുമണിയോട് സദൃശം;
Another parable which he told them was this – ‘The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a person took and sowed in his field.
32 ൩൨ ഈ വിത്ത് അത് എല്ലാവിത്തിലും ചെറിയതെങ്കിലും വളർന്നപ്പോൾ സസ്യങ്ങളിൽ ഏറ്റവും വലുതായി, ആകാശത്തിലെ പറവകൾ വന്നു അതിന്റെ കൊമ്പുകളിൽ കൂട് കൂട്ടുവാൻ തക്കവണ്ണം വൃക്ഷമായി തീരുന്നു.
This seed is smaller than all other seeds, but, when it has grown up, it is larger than the herbs and becomes a tree, so that “the wild birds come and roost in its branches.”’
33 ൩൩ അവൻ മറ്റൊരു ഉപമ അവരോട് പറഞ്ഞത്; “സ്വർഗ്ഗരാജ്യം ഒരു സ്ത്രീ മൂന്നുപറ മാവ് എടുത്ത് എല്ലാം പുളിച്ചുവരുവോളം ചേർത്തുവയ്ക്കുന്ന അല്പം പുളിച്ച മാവിനോടു സദൃശം”
This was another parable which Jesus related – ‘The kingdom of heaven is like some yeast which a woman took and covered up in three pecks of flour, until the whole had risen.’
Of all this Jesus spoke to the crowd in parables; indeed to them he used never to speak at all except in parables,
35 ൩൫ “ഞാൻ ഉപമ പ്രസ്താവിപ്പാൻ വായ് തുറക്കും; ലോകസ്ഥാപനം മുതൽ ഗൂഢമായത് ഉച്ചരിക്കും” എന്നു പ്രവാചകൻ പറഞ്ഞത് നിവൃത്തിയാകുവാൻ സംഗതിവന്നു.
in fulfilment of these words in the prophet – “I will speak to them in parables; I will utter things kept secret since the foundation of the world.”
36 ൩൬ അനന്തരം യേശു പുരുഷാരത്തെ പറഞ്ഞയച്ചിട്ട് വീട്ടിൽ വന്നു, ശിഷ്യന്മാർ അവന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ചെന്ന്: വയലിലെ കളയുടെ ഉപമ വിവരിച്ചുതരണം എന്നു അപേക്ഷിച്ചു. അതിന് അവൻ ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞത്:
Then Jesus left the crowd, and went into the house. Presently his disciples came to him, and said, ‘Explain to us the parable of the weeds in the field.’
He answered, ‘The sower of the good seed is the Son of Man.
The field is the world. By the good seed is meant the people of the kingdom. The weeds are the wicked,
and the enemy who sowed them is the devil. The harvest time is the close of the age, and the reapers are angels. (aiōn g165)
And, just as the weeds are gathered and burnt, so it will be at the close of the age. (aiōn g165)
41 ൪൧ മനുഷ്യപുത്രൻ തന്റെ ദൂതന്മാരെ അയയ്ക്കും; അവർ അവന്റെ രാജ്യത്തിൽനിന്നു പാപത്തെ ഉളവാക്കുന്ന സകലത്തേയും അധർമ്മം പ്രവർത്തിക്കുന്ന എല്ലാവരെയും കൂട്ടിച്ചേർത്തു
The Son of Man will send his angels, and they will gather from his kingdom all that hinders and those who live in sin,
and will throw them into the blazing furnace, where there will be weeping and grinding of teeth.
43 ൪൩ അന്ന് നീതിമാന്മാർ തങ്ങളുടെ പിതാവിന്റെ രാജ്യത്തിൽ സൂര്യനെപ്പോലെ പ്രകാശിക്കും. കേൾക്കുവാൻ ചെവിയുള്ളവൻ കേൾക്കട്ടെ.
Then will the righteous shine, like the sun, in the kingdom of their Father. If you have ears, listen.
44 ൪൪ സ്വർഗ്ഗരാജ്യം വയലിൽ ഒളിച്ചുവച്ച നിധിയോട് സദൃശം. അത് ഒരു മനുഷ്യൻ കണ്ട് മറച്ചിട്ട്, തന്റെ സന്തോഷത്താൽ ചെന്ന് തനിക്കുള്ളതൊക്കെയും വിറ്റ് ആ വയൽ വാങ്ങി.
‘The kingdom of heaven is like a treasure hidden in a field, which a person found and hid again, and then, in their delight, went and sold everything that they had, and bought that field.
‘Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant in search of choice pearls.
Finding one of great value, they went and sold everything that they had, and bought it.
Or again, the kingdom of heaven is like a net which was cast into the sea, and caught fish of all kinds.
48 ൪൮ അത് നിറഞ്ഞപ്പോൾ മീൻ പിടുത്തക്കാർ അത് വലിച്ചു കരയ്ക്ക് കയറ്റി, ഇരുന്നുകൊണ്ട് നല്ലത് പാത്രങ്ങളിൽ കൂട്ടിവച്ചു, ചീത്തയായവ എറിഞ്ഞുകളഞ്ഞു.
When it was full, they hauled it up on the beach, and sat down and sorted the good fish into baskets, but threw the worthless ones away.
49 ൪൯ ഇങ്ങനെ തന്നേ ലോകാവസാനത്തിൽ സംഭവിക്കും; ദൂതന്മാർ പുറപ്പെട്ടു നീതിമാന്മാരുടെ ഇടയിൽനിന്ന് ദുഷ്ടന്മാരെ വേർതിരിക്കും. (aiōn g165)
So will it be at the close of the age. The angels will go out and separate the wicked from the righteous, (aiōn g165)
and will throw them into the blazing furnace, where there will be weeping and grinding of teeth.
‘Have you understood all this?’ Jesus asked. ‘Yes,’ they answered.
52 ൫൨ പിന്നെ യേശു അവരോട്: അതുകൊണ്ട് സ്വർഗ്ഗരാജ്യത്തിന് ശിഷ്യനായ് തീർന്ന ഏത് ശാസ്ത്രിയും തന്റെ നിക്ഷേപത്തിൽ നിന്നു പുതിയതും പഴയതും പുറത്തെടുക്കുന്ന ഒരു വീട്ടുടയവനോട് സദൃശനാകുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
Then he added, ‘So every teacher of the Law, who has received instruction about the kingdom of heaven, is like a householder who produces from his stores things both new and old.’
When Jesus had finished these parables, he withdrew from that place.
54 ൫൪ അതിനുശേഷം തന്റെ സ്വന്ത പ്രദേശങ്ങളിൽ പ്രവേശിച്ചു അവിടെയുള്ള ജനങ്ങളെ അവരുടെ പള്ളിയിൽ ഉപദേശിച്ചു. അപ്പോൾ അവർ യേശുവിന്റെ ഉപദേശത്തിൽ വിസ്മയിച്ചു: ഇവന് ഈ ജ്ഞാനവും വീര്യപ്രവൃത്തികളും എവിടെ നിന്നുലഭിച്ചു?
Going to his own part of the country, he taught the people in their synagogue in such a manner that they were deeply impressed. ‘Where did he get this wisdom?’ they said, ‘and the miracles?
55 ൫൫ ഇവൻ തച്ചന്റെ മകൻ അല്ലയോ? ഇവന്റെ അമ്മ മറിയ അല്ലയോ? ഇവന്റെ സഹോദരന്മാർ യാക്കോബ്, യോസെ, ശിമോൻ, യൂദാ എന്നവർ അല്ലയോ?
Isn’t he the carpenter’s son? Isn’t his mother called Mary, and his brothers James, and Joseph, and Simon, and Judas?
56 ൫൬ ഇവന്റെ സഹോദരികളും എല്ലാം നമ്മോടുകൂടെയില്ലയോ? ഇവന് ഇതു ഒക്കെയും എവിടെ നിന്നുലഭിച്ചു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു അവങ്കൽ ഇടറിപ്പോയി.
And his sisters, too – are not they all living among us? Where, then did he get all this?’
57 ൫൭ യേശു അവരോട്: ഒരു പ്രവാചകൻ തന്റെ പിതൃനഗരത്തിലും സ്വന്തഭവനത്തിലും അല്ലാതെ ബഹുമാനമില്ലാത്തവൻ അല്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
These things proved a hindrance to their believing in him. But Jesus said, ‘A prophet is not without honour, except in his own country and in his own house.’
He did not work many miracles there, because of their want of faith.
